The quality of life of queer individuals in India is a result of a complex sociopolitical climate which is what this study aims to explore through qualitative methodology. Previous research has explored the social factors that impact the wellbeing of LGBT individuals in western countries, while the impact of politics on the wellbeing of marginalized groups is still largely unexplored. Through thematic analysis, this study found that family support and peer networks are the two most important social structures that determine the quality of life of LGBT emerging adults in India, whereas the impact of politics on wellbeing depends on the level of political awareness of the participants and their socio-political privilege in terms of caste, class and gender.

Small molecule targeted inhibitor therapies often have several drawbacks, including limited oral bioavailability, quick metabolism, toxic effects that limit dosage, and poor water solubility. This study aims to develop a nanodrug self-delivery system that does not require a carrier by utilizing the self-assembly of camptothecin (CPT) and dihydroartemisinin (DHA). CPT/DHA nanoparticles (NPs) with varying diameters can be synthesized without requiring further carrier materials or chemical modifications by changing the CPT-to-DHA ratio (10:1, 5:1, 2:1, 1:1).

Through the course of the last few decades researchers have observed that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) can act as a breeding ground for transformative positive changes to develop in the face of adversity. This process of enhanced growth is systematically studied as 'Post Traumatic Growth' (PTG). Though there is an existing association between ACE and PTG, yet there is a paucity of studies that explores the mediating variables in this relationship.

Nontoxic, stable, and experimentally realized lead-free halide double perovskites, CsAgBiX (X = Br, Cl), attracted much attention for solar cell applications. However, their reduced electronic dimensionality and indirect (wide) bandgap, limiting solar energy absorption efficiency, are not mostly suitable. To address such issues, we employ the computationally efficient DFT-1/2 + SOC method to study the electronic structure of cation-ordered and cation-disordered materials comparatively.

Background: Contrary to traditional notions of emerging adulthood as a period free from parental pressures, the prolonged transition to adulthood in contemporary society implies that parental influence remains a significant factor in the lives of emerging adults. This presents a potential challenge to emerging adults, as navigating independence while managing parental expectations can result in adverse psychological outcomes. The present study examined the relationship between perceived parental expectations and fear of negative evaluation (FNE) and the mediating role of maladaptive perfectionism.

EDSSR: a secure and power-aware opportunistic routing scheme for WSNs.

Sci Rep

November 2024

Department of Computer Science, Applied College, Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, P.O. Box 84428, Riyadh, 11671, Saudi Arabia.

Motivated by the pivotal role of routing in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and the prevalent security vulnerabilities arising from existing protocols, this research tackles the inherent challenges of securing WSNs. Many current WSN routing protocols prioritize computational efficiency but lack robust security measures, making them susceptible to exploitation by malicious actors. The prevalence of reactive protocols, chosen for their lower bandwidth consumption, exacerbates security concerns, as proactive alternatives require more resources for maintaining network routes.

Design and performance evaluation of a multi-load and multi-source DC-DC converter for efficient electric vehicle power systems.

Sci Rep

October 2024

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, Sustainable Energy Center of Excellence, Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

This paper introduces the design and comprehensive performance evaluation of a novel Multi-Load and Multi-Source DC-DC converter tailored for electric vehicle (EV) power systems. The proposed converter integrates a primary battery power source with a secondary renewable energy source-specifically, solar energy-to enhance overall energy efficiency and reliability in EV applications. Unlike conventional multi-port converters that often suffer from cross-regulation issues and limited scalability, this converter ensures stable power distribution to various EV subsystems, including the motor, air conditioning unit, audio systems, and lighting.

Parents' responses to youth positive affect (PA) have been dichotomized as enhancing and dampening. This dichotomy may not fit with cultural scripts about emotion in communities where a balance between positive and negative emotions is preferred. To assess parents' PA socialization in a culturally relevant manner for urban, middle-class families in India, we developed a new measure of parental goals about happiness and adapted the Responses to Adolescent Happy Affect Scale (RAHAS).
