This study investigates the efficacy of a solar-powered single-stage distillation system for treating domestic wastewater, supplemented with complex conductivity analysis. Domestic wastewater samples were collected from a municipal manhole in El Jadida, Morocco, over a 24-h period. The single-stage distillation system, designed for domestic wastewater treatment, utilizes heat to vaporize the wastewater, followed by condensation to produce pure liquid water.

The study aims to synthesize two green pyrazole compounds, -((1-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-4-nitroaniline (L4) and ethyl 5-methyl-1-(((4-nitrophenyl)amino)methyl)-1-pyrazole-3-carboxylate (L6), and test their action as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel (CS) in a 1 M HCl solution. Both chemical and electrochemical methods, namely, gravimetric measurements (WL), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were used to assess the efficiency of the investigated molecules. DFT calculations at B3LYP/6-31++G (d, p) and molecular dynamics simulation were used to carry out quantum chemical calculations in order to link their electronic characteristics with the findings of experiments.

Hassan First University of Settat, Higher Institute of Health Sciences, Laboratory of Health Sciences and Technologies, Settat, Morocco.

The exact factors predicting outcomes following traumatic brain injury (TBI) remain elusive. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we examined factors influencing outcomes in adult patients with TBI, from 3 months to 1 year after injury. A search of four electronic databases-PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect-yielded 29 studies for review and 16 for meta-analysis, in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines.

The molecular electron density theory (MEDT) was employed to examine the [4 + 2] cycloaddition reaction between (E)-N-((dimethylamino)methylene)benzothioamide (1) and (S)-3-acryloyl-4-phenyloxazolidin-2-one (2) at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) design level. Parr functions and energy studies clearly show that this reaction is regio- and stereoselective, in perfect agreement with experimental results. By evaluating the chemical mechanism in terms of bond evolution theory (BET) and electron localization function (ELF), which divulges a variety of variations in the electron density along the reaction path, a single-step mechanism with highly asynchronous transition states structures was revealed.

This comprehensive review critically examines the application of proteomics in understanding sperm cryoinjury mechanisms in livestock animals, in the context of the widespread use of semen cryopreservation for genetic conservation. Despite its global adoption, cryopreservation often detrimentally affects sperm quality and fertility due to cryoinjuries. These injuries primarily arise from ice crystal formation, osmotic shifts, oxidative stress, and the reorganization of membrane proteins and lipids during freezing and thawing, leading to premature capacitation-like changes.

February 2024

Hassan First University of Settat, Higher Institute of Health Sciences, Laboratory of Sciences and Health Technologies, Settat, 26000, Morocco.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major public health problem. In Morocco, few studies have focused on COPD in primary health care facilities, whose main mission is prevention. The aim of our work is thus to assess the prevalence of COPD and to study the factors associated with this silent disease among users of health care facilities in Morocco.

As the significance and complexity of solar panel performance, particularly at their maximum power point (MPP), continue to grow, there is a demand for improved monitoring systems. The presence of variable weather conditions in Maroua, including potential partial shadowing caused by cloud cover or urban buildings, poses challenges to the efficiency of solar systems. This study introduces a new approach to tracking the Global Maximum Power Point (GMPP) in photovoltaic systems within the context of solar research conducted in Cameroon.

Context: Aflatoxins are the most harmful mycotoxins that cause human and animal health concerns. Aflatoxin M (AFM) is the primary hydroxylated metabolite of aflatoxin B and is linked to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma and immunotoxicity in humans and animals. Because of the important role of dairy products in human life, especially children, AFM is such a major concern to humans because of its frequent occurrence in dairy products at concentrations high enough to cause adverse effects to human and animal health.

The field of adsorption is seen with mistrustfulness by Scientific Society. One of these reasons is that many users of adsorption do not have knowledge of several concepts of physical chemistry, and they spread misconceptions throughout the literature. One point that is usually found to be wrong in papers published even in prestigious Journals involving adsorption is the thermodynamics of adsorption, the use of linearization for modeling the equilibrium and kinetics of adsorption, and other misconceptions related to adsorption.
