Importance: Optimal blood pressure (BP) control after successful reperfusion with endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for patients with acute ischemic stroke is unclear.
Objective: To determine whether intensive BP management during the first 24 hours after successful reperfusion leads to better clinical outcomes than conventional BP management in patients who underwent EVT.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Multicenter, randomized, open-label trial with a blinded end-point evaluation, conducted across 19 stroke centers in South Korea from June 2020 to November 2022 (final follow-up, March 8, 2023).

Purpose: The da Vinci SP robotic system enables three double-jointed wristed instruments and a fully wristed three-dimensional camera to be placed through a single port. This study presents our experience with robot-assisted ureteral reconstruction using the SP system and reports its outcomes.
Materials And Methods: Between December 2018 and April 2022, a single surgeon performed robotic ureteral reconstruction using the SP system in 39 patients: 18 underwent pyeloplasty and 21 received ureteral reimplantation.

Abnormal communication between endothelial cells (ECs) and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) promotes vascular diseases, including atherogenesis. ETS variant transcription factor 2 (ETV2) plays a substantial role in pathological angiogenesis and the reprogramming of ECs; however, the role of ETV2 in the communication between ECs and VSMCs has not been revealed. To investigate the interactive role of ETV2 in the EC to VSMC phenotype, we first showed that treatment with a conditioned medium from ETV2-overexpressed ECs (Ad-ETV2 CM) significantly increased VSMC migration.

Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) clinically benefits cancer treatment. However, the ICI responses are only achieved in a subset of patients, and the underlying mechanisms of the limited response remain unclear. 160 patients with non-small cell lung cancer treated with anti-programmed cell death protein-1 (anti-PD-1) or anti-programmed death ligand-1 (anti-PD-L1) are analyzed to understand the early determinants of response to ICI.

Introduction: Recurrent ischemic stroke (RIS) is associated with increased mortality and poor outcomes. Therefore, secondary prevention is critical for reducing the risk of recurrent stroke. Previous studies have found sex differences in risk factors in patients with first-ever stroke; however, the results have been inconsistent for recurrent stroke.

Background And Aims: The nutrition support team (NST) comprises doctors, nutritionists, pharmacists, and nurses who provide intensive nutritional treatment designed for each patient by evaluating their nutritional status of hospitalized patients. This study aimed to identify the clinical characteristics of patients referred to the NST among those admitted to a tertiary hospital and to understand the factors affecting their clinical course and changes in pressure sore grades.
Methods: This study included 1,171 adult patients aged 18 years or older referred to the NST at a tertiary hospital in a metropolitan city between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2020.

Purpose: We evaluated the change in patient quality of life after the use of a hydrophilic-coated catheter (SpeediCath) in adults requiring intermittent catheterization (IC).
Methods: This was a multicenter, open-label, observational study using the Patient Perception of Intermittent Catheterization (PPIC) questionnaire and the Intermittent Self-Catheterization questionnaire (ISC-Q) and safety at 12 and 24 weeks in adult patients who had already used other type of catheters prior to switching to SpeediCath or in patients undergoing self-IC for the first time for any reason.
Results: Among a total of 360 subjects, 215 (59.

Rationale: Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute inflammatory polyneuropathy related to infection with bacteria or virus and vaccination. Cases of GBS after coronavirus infection-19 (COVID-19) vaccination have been reported. However, cases of GBS after inoculation with mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines, especially mRNA-1273, have rarely been reported compared to after inoculation with adenovirus vector-based COVID-19 vaccines.

Background: Comparisons of the gut microbiome of lean and obese humans have revealed that obesity is associated with the gut microbiome plus changes in numerous environmental factors, including high-fat diet (HFD). Here, we report that two species of Bifidobacterium are crucial to controlling metabolic parameters in the Korean population.
Results: Based on gut microbial analysis from 99 Korean individuals, we observed the abundance of Bifidobacterium longum and Bifidobacterium bifidum was markedly reduced in individuals with increased visceral adipose tissue (VAT), body mass index (BMI), blood triglyceride (TG), and fatty liver.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nano-sized membranous structures involved in intercellular communication and various physiological and pathological processes. Here, we present a novel method for rapid (within 15 min), large-scale production of high-purity EVs using eMTDΔ4, a peptide derived from Noxa. The treatment of mesenchymal stem cells derived from human Wharton's jelly after trypsinization and subsequent eMTDΔ4 stimulation in a chemically defined sucrose buffer with orbital shaking led to a substantial increase (approximately 30-fold) in EV production with markedly high purity (approximately 45-fold).

Human CtIP maintains genomic integrity primarily by promoting 5' DNA end resection, an initial step of the homologous recombination (HR). A few mechanisms have been suggested as to how CtIP recruitment to damage sites is controlled, but it is likely that we do not yet have full understanding of the process. Here, we provide evidence that CtIP recruitment and functioning are controlled by the SIAH2 E3 ubiquitin ligase.

: This study aims to elucidate the positive rate and the clinicopathological significance of surgical margin after radical prostatectomy (RP) through a meta-analysis. : This meta-analysis finally used 59 studies, including the information about the positive surgical margin (PSM) and those clinicopathological significances after RP. The subgroup analysis for the estimated rates of PSM was evaluated based on types of surgery, grade groups, and pathological tumor (pT) stages.

Vertebrobasilar insufficiency, a condition characterized by poor blood flow to the posterior portion of the brain, can cause headaches. However, the exact underlying mechanism is not yet fully understood. The patient enrolled in our study reported experiencing intermittent headaches radiating from the left shoulder, similar to chronic tension-type headaches.

Benzimidazole anthelmintic agents have been recently repurposed to overcome cancers resistant to conventional therapies. To evaluate the anti-cancer effects of benzimidazole on resistant cells, various cell death pathways were investigated in 5-fluorouracil-resistant colorectal cancer cells. The viability of wild-type and 5-fluorouracil-resistant SNU-C5 colorectal cancer cells was assayed, followed by Western blotting.
