One major quantitative trait loci and candidate gene for salt tolerance were identified on chromosome 3 from a new soybean mutant derived from gamma-ray irradiation, which will provide a new genetic resource for improving soybean salt tolerance. Soil salinity is a worldwide problem that reduces crop yields, but the development of salt-tolerant crops can help overcome this challenge. This study was conducted with the purpose of evaluating the morpho-physiological and genetic characteristics of a new salt-tolerant mutant KA-1285 developed using gamma-ray irradiation in soybean (Glycine max L.

Purpose: This study aimed to compare long-term clinical outcomes according to the use of emergency medical services (EMS) in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) who arrived at the hospital within 12 hr of symptom onset.

Materials And Methods: A total of 13104 patients with acute myocardial infarction were enrolled in the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry-National Institutes of Health from October 2011 to December 2015. Of them, 2416 patients with STEMI who arrived at the hospital within 12 hr were divided into two groups: 987 patients in the EMS group and 1429 in the non-EMS group.

Six new 8---hydroxybenzylflavonol glycosides were isolated from a hot water extract of pumpkin ( Duch.) tendril and elucidated as 8---hydroxybenzylquercetin 3--rutinoside, 8---hydroxybenzoylquercetin 3--β-D-glucopyranoside, 8---hydroxybenzylkaempferol 3--(α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→6)-β-D-galactopyranoside, 8---hydroxybenzoylkaempferol 3--rutinoside, 8---hydroxybenzylisorhamnetin 3--rutinoside, and 8---hydroxybenzylisorhamnetin 3--(α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→6)-β-D-galactopyranoside. Their chemical structures were determined using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electrospray ionization-mass spectrometer (ESIMS) analyses.

Digital panoramic radiographs are useful for diagnosis of osteoporosis in Korean postmenopausal women.

Gerodontology

June 2016

Department of Periodontology, School of Dentistry, Dental Science Research Institute, Chonnam National University, Gwangju, Korea.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine whether digital panoramic radiographs could be used for the diagnosis of osteoporosis through evaluation of the radiographs based on the correlation with bone mineral density (BMD).

Methods: One hundred and ninety-four post-menopausal women were selected from participants who had participated in the Dong-gu study. Panoramic radiographic indices measured are mental index (MI), mandibular cortical index (MCI) and simple visual estimation (SVE).
