Cerebral ischemia-induced pyroptosis contributes to the dissemination of neuroinflammation, and Nod-like receptor protein-3 (NLRP3) inflammasome plays a key role in this process. Previous studies have indicated that Genistein-3'-sodiumsulfonate (GSS) can inhibit neuroinflammation caused by cerebral ischemia, exert cerebroprotective effects, but its specific mechanism has not been comprehensively understood. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of GSS on ischemic stroke-induced cell pyroptosis.

Prior work highlighted that procrastination and impulsivity shared a common neuroanatomical basis in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, implying a tight relationship between these traits. However, theorists hold that procrastination is motivated by avoiding aversiveness, while impulsivity is driven by approaching immediate pleasure. Hence, exploring the common and distinct neural basis underlying procrastination and impulsivity through functional neuroimaging becomes imperative.

Herein, we present that treating -(2-oxo-2-phenylethyl) substituted 2-pyridones with styrenes in DMSO/HO at 120 °C affords 1,6-carboannulated 2-pyridone scaffolds with up to 79% yield. This protocol provides a simple and efficient method for obtaining complicated bicyclic 2-pyridones through a radical cascade reaction. Additionally, we have successfully synthesized 27 target compounds, which confirms the practicality and wide applicability of the proposed reaction.

Background: Although the information on the validation status of electronic sphygmomanometer (ES) devices in use in health care institutions and households is much more clinically relevant than that of ES models available on the market, it remains insufficient.
Methods: A national survey was conducted across all administrative regions of mainland China to assess the validation status of ESs. Fifty-eight cities were selected with stratification by municipality, provincial capital, and other cities, and health care institutions and households in each city were chosen by convenience to identify ES devices in use according to the study protocol.

Objectives: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder, but no drugs can cure this disease. Chalcones possess good antioxidant activity, anti-neuroinflammatory activity, neuroprotective effects, inhibitory effects on Aβ aggregation, and Aβ disaggregation ability. Therefore, chalcones are ideal lead compounds, and the discovery of novel anti-AD agent-based chalcones is necessary.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), a fundamental biomacromolecule in living organisms, serves as the carrier of genetic information. Beyond its role in encoding biological functions, DNA's inherent ability to hybridize through base pairing has opened new avenues for its application in biological sciences. This review introduces DNA nanotechnology and DNA-encoded library (DEL), and highlights their shared design principles related to DNA assembly.

Spin-orbit coupling (SOC) induced nontrivial bandgap and complex Fermi surface has been considered to be profitable for thermoelectrics, which, however, is generally appreciable only in heavy elements, thereby detrimental to practical application. In this study, the SOC-driven extraordinary thermoelectric performance in a light 2D material Fe₂S₂ is demonstrated via first-principles calculations. The abnormally strong SOC, induced by electron correlation through 3d orbitals polarization, significantly renormalizes the band structures, which opens the bandgap via Fe 3d orbitals inversion, exposes the second conduction valley with weak electron-phonon coupling, and aligns the energy of Fe 3d and S 3p orbitals with divergent momentum in valence band.

In this study, a supramolecular fluorescent material was constructed by using double-cavity twisted cucurbit[14]uril (tQ[14]) and positively charged Astrazon Pink FG (APFG) based on the non-covalent host-guest interaction for the first time. The thermodynamic parameters of the APFG@tQ[14] in aqueous solution were determined by isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), the results indicated that the spontaneous assembly of APFG@tQ[14] is mainly driven by enthalpy. The intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) effect induced the APFG@tQ[14] probe to emit a strong orange-red fluorescence.

This study explores the residents' behavioral determinants of ecological conservation in rural tourism development, focusing on resident participation to promote sustainable development in the tourism industry. By integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the Norm Activation Model (NAM), it examines the roles of subjective norm, responsibility attribution, ecological environmental risk perception, and human capital in shaping ecological conservation behavior. Based on data from 331 valid responses collected through a questionnaire survey, structural equation model (SEM) was performed using SPSS and AMOS to analyze ecological conservation behavior.

As a crucial drug target, KRAS can regulate most cellular processes involving guanosine triphosphate (GTP) hydrolysis. However, the mechanism of GTP hydrolysis has remained controversial over the past decades. Here, several different GTP hydrolysis mechanisms catalyzed by wild-type KRAS (WT-KRAS) and KRAS mutants were discussed via four QM/MM calculation models.

Polymers and dendrimers are macromolecules, possessing unique and intriguing characteristics, that are widely applied in self-assembled functional materials, green catalysis, drug delivery and sensing devices. Traditional approaches for the structural characterization of polymers and dendrimers involve DLS, GPC, NMR, IR and TG, which provide their physiochemical features and ensemble information, whereas their unimolecular conformation and dispersion also are key features allowing to understand their transporting profile in confined ionic nanochannels. This work demonstrates the nanopore approach for the determination of charged homopolymers, neutral block copolymer and dendrimers under distinct bias potentials and pH conditions.

In-situ tumor vaccination remains challenging due to difficulties in the exposure and presentation of tumor-associated neoantigens (TANs). In view of the central role of lipid metabolism in cell fate determination and tumor-immune cell communication, here we report a photo-controlled lipid metabolism nanoregulator (PLMN) to achieve robust in-situ adjuvant-free vaccination, which is constructed through hierarchically integrating photothermal-inducible arachidonate 15-lipoxygenase (ALOX15)-expressing plasmids, cypate and FIN56 into cationic liposomes. Near-infrared light (NIR) stimulation triggers on-demand ALOX15 editing and causes excessive accumulation of downstream pro-ferroptosis lipid metabolites.
