Currently approved vaccines have been successful in preventing the severity of COVID-19 and hospitalization. These vaccines primarily induce humoral immune responses; however, highly transmissible and mutated variants, such as the Omicron variant, weaken the neutralization potential of the vaccines, thus, raising serious concerns about their efficacy. Additionally, while neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) tend to wane more rapidly than cell-mediated immunity, long-lasting T cells typically prevent severe viral illness by directly killing infected cells or aiding other immune cells.

Severe acne, characterized by cysts and nodules, can significantly impact a patient's self-image and quality of life [1]. In China, first-line treatments for severe acne typically include oral isotretinoin, topical benzoyl peroxide, and oral or topical antibiotics [2]. However, due to concerns about safety, oral isotretinoin and antibiotics are not recommended for lactating women, posing challenges in treating acne in this population and often leading to emotional distress.

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most prevalent malignant tumor in male, and bone metastasis occurs in about 70% of patients with advanced disease. The STING pathway, an innate immune signaling mechanism, has been shown to play a key role in tumorigenesis, metastasis, and cancerous bone pain. Hence, exploring regulatory mechanism of STING in PCa bone metastasis will bring novel opportunities for treating PCa bone metastasis.

The Shexiang Zhuifeng Zhitong Ointment with the effects of dispelling wind, removing dampness, dissipating cold, and relieving pain is used for treating arthralgia, muscular pain, and sprain pain caused by cold-dampness obstruction. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Shexiang Zhuifeng Zhitong Ointment in relieving the pain due to knee osteoarthritis(syndrome of cold-dampness obstruction), a randomized, double-blind, parallel controlled, multicenter clinical trial was conducted. The stratified randomization method was used to randomize the 240 subjects into a treatment group and a control group in a ratio of 1∶1.

Background: The left-behind children (LBC), children and adolescents aged 0-18 whose parents have migrated for economic purposes for extended periods exceeding three months, present a unique social concern. These children remain in their place of household registration, often under the guardianship of relatives, while receiving compulsory education. LBC with growing Internet addiction (IA) have made it urgent to take a close look at the mechanisms and effective interventions for them.

Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI), a prevalent stroke-related complication, can lead to severe brain damage. Inflammation is a crucial factor in CIRI pathogenesis, and the complement component 3a receptor (C3aR) could be a key mediator in the post-CIRI inflammatory cascade. In this study, the role of C3aR in CIRI was investigated utilizing a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model in C3aR knockout (KO) mice.

Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are both systemic immunoreactive diseases, and their pathogenesis depends on the interaction between genes and environmental factors. There are no reports of UC with SLE in China, but six cases of SLE with UC have been reported in China. The combination of these two diseases has distinct effects on the pathogenesis of both diseases.

Spiritual self-care is defined as a set of patient-centered or family-centered spiritual activities aimed at promoting health and well-being. In chronic diseases such as cancer, the responsibility for care typically falls on the patient or their family, necessitating an accurate assessment of the patient's self-care practices to achieve this goal. The objective of this study was to translate, culturally adapt, and examine the psychometrics of the Persian version of the spiritual self-care practice scale (SSCPS) in cancer patients.

An accessory cavitated uterine mass (ACUM) is a very rare obstructive genital malformation characterized by pelvic pain and severe dysmenorrhea. It is easily mistaken for other obstructive genital malformations in women, such as cystic uterine adenomyosis or cystic degeneration of uterine fibroids. This case report describes a 30-year-old patient with a huge uterine cornual mass.

Activation of microglia is accompanied by increased expression of its receptors and release of inflammatory mediators. Acupuncture and its developed electroacupuncture (EA) have been recommended as an alternative therapy for migraine and are widely used for relieving migraine-associated pain.

Myocardial fibrosis (MF) is a pivotal pathological process implicated in various cardiovascular diseases, particularly heart failure. Astragaloside IV (AS-IV), a natural compound derived from Astragalus membranaceus, possesses potent cardioprotective properties. However, the precise molecular mechanisms underlying its anti-MF effects, particularly in relation to senescence, remain elusive.

Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) has become the third leading cause of hospital-acquired AKI, which seriously threatens the health of patients. To date, the precise pathogenesis of CI-AKI has remained not clear and may be related to the direct cytotoxicity, hypoxia and ischemia of medulla, and oxidative stress caused by iodine contrast medium, which have diverse physicochemical properties, including cytotoxicity, permeability and viscosity. The latest research shows that microRNAs (miRNAs) are also involved in apoptosis, pyroptosis, and autophagy which caused by iodine contrast medium (ICM), which may be implicated in the pathogenesis of CI-AKI.

The incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) due to ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is increasing. There is no effective treatment for AKI, and because of this clinical challenge, AKI often progresses to chronic kidney disease, which is closely associated with poor patient outcomes and high mortality rates. Small extracellular vesicles from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSC-sEVs) play increasingly vital roles in protecting tissue function from the effects of various harmful stimuli owing to their specific biological features.

Excessive inflammatory response and increased oxidative stress play an essential role in the pathophysiology of ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced acute kidney injury (IRI-AKI). Emerging evidence suggests that lipoxin A4 (LXA4), as an endogenous negative regulator in inflammation, can ameliorate several I/R injuries. However, the mechanisms and effects of LXA4 on IRI-AKI remain unknown.
