Currently approved vaccines have been successful in preventing the severity of COVID-19 and hospitalization. These vaccines primarily induce humoral immune responses; however, highly transmissible and mutated variants, such as the Omicron variant, weaken the neutralization potential of the vaccines, thus, raising serious concerns about their efficacy. Additionally, while neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) tend to wane more rapidly than cell-mediated immunity, long-lasting T cells typically prevent severe viral illness by directly killing infected cells or aiding other immune cells.

Severe acne, characterized by cysts and nodules, can significantly impact a patient's self-image and quality of life [1]. In China, first-line treatments for severe acne typically include oral isotretinoin, topical benzoyl peroxide, and oral or topical antibiotics [2]. However, due to concerns about safety, oral isotretinoin and antibiotics are not recommended for lactating women, posing challenges in treating acne in this population and often leading to emotional distress.

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most prevalent malignant tumor in male, and bone metastasis occurs in about 70% of patients with advanced disease. The STING pathway, an innate immune signaling mechanism, has been shown to play a key role in tumorigenesis, metastasis, and cancerous bone pain. Hence, exploring regulatory mechanism of STING in PCa bone metastasis will bring novel opportunities for treating PCa bone metastasis.

The stratified randomization method was used to randomize the 240 subjects into a treatment group and a control group in a ratio of 1∶1.

Background: The left-behind children (LBC), children and adolescents aged 0-18 whose parents have migrated for economic purposes for extended periods exceeding three months, present a unique social concern. These children remain in their place of household registration, often under the guardianship of relatives, while receiving compulsory education. LBC with growing Internet addiction (IA) have made it urgent to take a close look at the mechanisms and effective interventions for them.

Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI), a prevalent stroke-related complication, can lead to severe brain damage. Inflammation is a crucial factor in CIRI pathogenesis, and the complement component 3a receptor (C3aR) could be a key mediator in the post-CIRI inflammatory cascade. In this study, the role of C3aR in CIRI was investigated utilizing a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model in C3aR knockout (KO) mice.

Refractory autoimmune hemolytic anemia in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus and ulcerative colitis: A case report.

Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are both systemic immunoreactive diseases, and their pathogenesis depends on the interaction between genes and environmental factors. There are no reports of UC with SLE in China, but six cases of SLE with UC have been reported in China. The combination of these two diseases has distinct effects on the pathogenesis of both diseases.

Spiritual self-care is defined as a set of patient-centered or family-centered spiritual activities aimed at promoting health and well-being. In chronic diseases such as cancer, the responsibility for care typically falls on the patient or their family, necessitating an accurate assessment of the patient's self-care practices to achieve this goal. The objective of this study was to translate, culturally adapt, and examine the psychometrics of the Persian version of the spiritual self-care practice scale (SSCPS) in cancer patients.

This case report describes a 30-year-old patient with a huge uterine cornual mass.

The study explores the impact of predictive nursing interventions on pressure ulcers (PUs) in elderly bedridden patients. A total of 120 elderly bedridden patients from the Central Hospital of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture between August 2019 and August 2023 were selected as the subjects of the study and were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group using a random number table method. The control group received conventional nursing care, while the observation group received predictive nursing interventions.
