Background: Mitochondria, as the energy factories of cells, are involved in a wide range of vital activities, including cell differentiation, signal transduction, the cell cycle, and apoptosis, while also regulating cell growth. However, current pharmacological treatments for stroke are challenged by issues such as drug resistance and side effects, necessitating the exploration of new therapeutic strategies.
Objective: This review aims to summarize the regulatory effects of natural compounds targeting mitochondria on neuronal mitochondrial function and metabolism, providing new perspectives for stroke treatment.

Objective: To establish and validate a model based on hyperdense middle cerebral artery sign (HMCAS) radiomics features for predicting hemorrhagic transformation (HT) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) after endovascular treatment (EVT).
Methods: Patients with AIS who presented with HMCAS on non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) at admission and underwent EVT at three comprehensive hospitals between June 2020 and January 2024 were recruited for this retrospective study. A radiomics model was constructed using the HMCAS radiomics features most strongly associated with HT.

Autophagy is a lysosome-dependent cellular degradation pathway that responds to a variety of environmental and cellular stresses, which is defective in aging and age-related diseases, therefore, targeting autophagy with small-molecule activators has potential therapeutic benefits. In this study, we successfully completed the first total synthesis of Ivesinol, an identified antibacterial natural product, and efficiently constructed a library of its analogs. To measure the effect of Ivesinol analogs on autophagic activity, we performed cell imaging-based screening approach, and observed that several Ivesinol analogs exhibited potent autophagy-regulating activity.

Background: Compassion fatigue is a significant issue in nursing, affecting both registered nurses and nursing students, potentially leading to burnout and reduced quality of care. During internships, compassion fatigue can shape nursing students' career trajectories and intent to stay in the profession. Identifying those at high risk is crucial for timely interventions, yet existing tools often fail to account for within-group variability, limiting their ability to accurately predict compassion fatigue risk.

Background: The progression of triple-negative breast cancer is shaped by both tumor cells and the surrounding tumor microenvironment (TME). Within the TME, tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) represent a significant cell population and have emerged as a primary target for cancer therapy. As antigen-presenting cells within the innate immune system, macrophages are pivotal in tumor immunotherapy through their phagocytic functions.

Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is a special type of chronic pancreatitis with clinical symptoms of obstructive jaundice and abdominal discomfort; this condition is caused by autoimmunity and marked by pancreatic fibrosis and dysfunction. Previous studies have revealed a close relationship between early pancreatic atrophy and the incidence rate of diabetes in type 1 AIP patients receiving steroid treatment. Shimada performed a long-term follow-up study and reported that the pancreatic volume (PV) of these patients initially exponentially decreased but then slowly decreased, which was considered to be an important factor related to diabetes; moreover, serum IgG4 levels were positively correlated with PV during follow-up.

Background: Perineural administration of dexmedetomidine (PN-DEX) can enhance the efficacy of local anesthetics used in regional nerve blocks while decreasing the median effective concentration (EC50) of these anesthetics. Intranasal administration of dexmedetomidine (IN-DEX) is more accessible for sedation during regional anesthesia because of its non-invasive systemic administration and demonstrates synergism with local anesthetic. However, it remains unclear whether IN-DEX affects the EC50 of local anesthetics used in caudal blocks.
