Background: Primary hypertension significantly impacts global cardiovascular health, contributing to increased mortality rates and posing a substantial public health challenge. Recognizing the growing evidence supporting non-pharmacological interventions (NPIs) for controlling primary hypertension, our study employs Network Meta-Analysis (NMA) to comprehensively assess their efficacy.
Methods: This review updates a prior systematic review by searching for original literature on NPIs for primary hypertension from 2013 to 2024.

Background: The therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) may be partly attributed to their secretion growth factors, cytokines and chemokines. In various preclinical studies, the use of MSC-conditioned media (CM) has demonstrated promising potential for promoting vascular repair.
Methods: To gain a comprehensive understanding of the variations in conditioned media derived from different sources of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) including umbilical cord, adipose and bone marrow, we investigated their reparative effects on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) subjected to damage induced by high glucose.

Traditional wound closure methods often present several issues, including additional puncture wounds, adverse effects from anesthesia, and noticeable scarring. Inspired by embryonic wound healing, a Janus hydrogel (PG/Au-Asp@PCM) is designed to manipulate non-invasive wound closure by photothermal-responsive self-contraction of PG/Au-Asp@PCM, which is attributed to the shape memory behavior of PG/Au-Asp@PCM under near-infrared (NIR). Wherein, gelatin acts as a thermally reversible "switch" and polyacrylamide creates stable and cross-linked "net-points".

Background: The emerging incidence of pathogenic liver conditions is turning into a major concern for global health. Induction of pyroptosis in hepatocytes instigates cellular disintegration, which in turn liberates substantial quantities of pro-inflammatory intracellular substances, thereby accelerating the advancement of liver fibrosis. Consequently, directing therapeutic efforts towards inhibiting pyroptosis could potentially serve as an innovative approach in managing inflammation related chronic hepatic disorders.

Objective: This study compared ocular and cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (oVEMP and cVEMP) among individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD) without dizziness, with nonspecific dizziness (dizziness without orthostatic hypotension), or with dizziness combined with orthostatic hypotension.
Materials And Methods: We prospectively analyzed 30 of each of the three types of individuals who were admitted to Yongchuan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University (Chongqing, China) between June 2022 and April 2023. The three groups received oVEMP and cVEMP measurements using an electromyography-evoked potential system.

Autophagy is a lysosome-dependent cellular degradation pathway that responds to a variety of environmental and cellular stresses, which is defective in aging and age-related diseases, therefore, targeting autophagy with small-molecule activators has potential therapeutic benefits. In this study, we successfully completed the first total synthesis of Ivesinol, an identified antibacterial natural product, and efficiently constructed a library of its analogs. To measure the effect of Ivesinol analogs on autophagic activity, we performed cell imaging-based screening approach, and observed that several Ivesinol analogs exhibited potent autophagy-regulating activity.

Up to half of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, for which effective treatment options are lacking, resulting in a poor prognosis. Over the past few years, the combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-angiogenic targeted therapy has proven highly efficacious in treating advanced HCC, significantly extending patients' survival and providing a potential for sequential curative surgery. After sequential curative hepatectomy or liver transplantation following conversion therapy, patients can receive long-term survival benefits.

Effective repair of large bone defects through bone tissue engineering (BTE) remains an unmet clinical challenge. Successful BTE requires optimal and synergistic interactions among biocompatible scaffolds, osteogenic factors, and osteoprogenitors to form a highly vascularized microenvironment for bone regeneration and osseointegration. We sought to develop a highly effective BTE system by using 3D printed citrate-based mPOC/hydroxyapatite (HA) composites laden with BMP9-stimulated human urine stem cells (USCs).

Nephrotic syndrome (NS) represents a prevalent syndrome among various chronic kidney disease pathologies and is known for its higher severity and worse prognosis compared with chronic glomerulonephritis. Understanding its pathogenesis and identifying more effective treatment modalities have long been a concern of kidney specialists. With the introduction of the gut-kidney axis concept and the progress in omics technologies, alterations in the gut microbiota have been observed in primary and secondary NS.

Liver metastasis is the primary factor contributing to unfavorable prognosis in colorectal cancer (CRC). Although N-glycosylation is implicated in metastasis, there is a notable paucity of comprehensive studies addressing the N-glycosylation proteomics associated with liver metastasis in CRC. In this study, N-glycosylated proteins and N-glycosylation sites of differential expression between primary lesions and paired liver metastatic lesions are identified.

Abstract: We aim to investigate the optimal timing for surgical interventions to maximize patient benefit.
Background: The guidelines recommending a minimum deferral of six months for non-cardiac surgeries following drug-eluting stent percutaneous coronary intervention (DES-PCI) do not adequately address the requirements for individuals undergoing gastrointestinal cancer surgery (GCS).
Methods: The study encompassed 2,501 patients treated from January 2017 to December 2021, all of whom underwent GCS within one year after DES-PCI.

Background: Compassion fatigue is a significant issue in nursing, affecting both registered nurses and nursing students, potentially leading to burnout and reduced quality of care. During internships, compassion fatigue can shape nursing students' career trajectories and intent to stay in the profession. Identifying those at high risk is crucial for timely interventions, yet existing tools often fail to account for within-group variability, limiting their ability to accurately predict compassion fatigue risk.

Pathological vascular remodeling (VR) is characterized by structural and functional alterations in the vascular wall resulting from injury, which significantly contribute to the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). The vascular wall consists primarily of endothelial cells (ECs), vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), and adventitial fibroblasts (AFs), whose interactions are crucial for both the formation of the vascular system and the maintenance of mature blood vessels. Disruptions in the communication between these cell types have been implicated in the progression of VR.
