Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to explore how lncRNA SNHG12 influences the transition of macrophages to myofibroblasts in cancer-associated fibroblast-derived extracellular vesicles in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
  • Researchers isolated extracellular vesicles from NSCLC tissue and examined their composition, while also investigating the interactions among lncRNA SNHG12, miR-181a-5p, and Smad3.
  • The findings revealed that lncRNA SNHG12 promotes the transformation of M2 macrophages into myofibroblasts, significantly increasing Smad3 expression through its interaction with miR-181a-5p.

In this research, we investigated the role of PIK3R6, a regulatory subunit of PI3Kγ, known for its tumor-promoting properties, in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC). Utilizing the UALCAN website, we found PIK3R6 upregulated in CCRCC, correlating with lower survival rates. We compared PIK3R6 expression in CCRCC tumor tissues and adjacent normal tissues using immunohistochemistry.

Z-ligustilide preferentially caused mitochondrial dysfunction in AML HL-60 cells by activating nuclear receptors NUR77 and NOR1.

Chin Med

September 2023

College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Chinese Medicine, Southwest University, 2 Tiansheng Road, Beibei District, Chongqing, 400715, China.

Background: Nuclear receptors NUR77 and NOR1 were identified as critical targets in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) therapy. Previously, we showed that Z-ligustilide (Z-LIG) selectively targeted AML by restoring NUR77 and NOR1. However, its downstream mechanisms are yet to be elucidated.

Insight into crustacean cathepsins: Structure-evolutionary relationships and functional roles in physiological processes.

Fish Shellfish Immunol

August 2023

Cancer Center, Medical Research Institute, Southwest University, Chongqing, 400716, China; State Key Laboratory of Resource Insects, Southwest University, Chongqing, 400716, China. Electronic address:

Cathepsins belong to a group of proteins that are present in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms and have an extremely high degree of evolutionary conservation. These proteins are functionally active in extracellular environments as soluble enzymatic proteins or attached to plasma membrane receptors. In addition, they occur in cellular secretory vesicles, mitochondria, the cytosol, and within the nuclei of eukaryotic cells.

The interaction between bacteria and insects can significantly impact a wide range of different areas because bacteria and insects are widely distributed around the globe. The bacterial-insect interactions have the potential to directly affect human health since insects are vectors for disease transmission, and their interactions can also have economic consequences. In addition, they have been linked to high mortality rates in economically important insects, resulting in substantial economic losses.

Objective: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is recognized as one of the primary causes of global cancer-related mortality. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) participate in NSCLC cell progression. This study probed the potential mechanism of lncRNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 12 (SNHG12) in cisplatin (DDP)-resistance in NSCLC cells.

Visual Assay for Methicillin-Resistant Based on Rolling Circular Amplification Triggering G-Quadruplex/Hemin DNAzyme Proximity Assembly.

Anal Chem

February 2023

Key Laboratory of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics (Ministry of Education), College of Laboratory Medicine, Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing 400016, P.R. China.

Nowadays, infections caused by methicillin-resistant (MRSA) have constituted a new challenge for anti-infective treatment. Precise identification and rapid clinical diagnostics of MRSA from other methicillin-sensitive strains entail assays with robust diagnostic efficiency and simple operation steps. Sensitive detection of MecA gene is promising to indicate MRSA infection, but it is challenged by the lack of isothermal and simple strategies.

Analysis of Visual Risk Factors of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury of Knee Joint.

J Clin Med

September 2022

Department of Sports Medicine, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, No.107 on Yanjiang Road West, Guangzhou 510120, China.

This study aimed to explore whether the defect of visual function is a risk factor of knee anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sports injury and to provide a theoretical basis for the primary prevention of ACL sports injury. This cross-sectional study included 392 participants divided into two groups: the sports injury group (287 with sports injury of knee) and the control group (105 healthy volunteers). Participants in the sports injury group were further divided into the ACL-Intact group (133) and the ACL-Deficient group (154).

Guidelines for the prevention and management of children and adolescents with COVID-19.

Eur J Pediatr

December 2022

Department of Nephrology Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, National Clinical Research Center for Child Health and Disorders, Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Child Development and Disorders, Chongqing Key Laboratory of Pediatrics, Chongqing, China.

Unlabelled: Children are the future of the world, but their health and future are facing great uncertainty because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In order to improve the management of children with COVID-19, an international, multidisciplinary panel of experts developed a rapid advice guideline at the beginning of the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020. After publishing the first version of the rapid advice guideline, the panel has updated the guideline by including additional stakeholders in the panel and a comprehensive search of the latest evidence.

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the common liver disease characterized by hepatic steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis; there are no approved drugs to treat this disease because of incomplete understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms of NASH. Milk fat globule-epidermal growth factor-factor 8 (MFG-E8), a multifunctional glycoprotein, has shown anti-inflammation and antifibrosis. Here, MFG-E8 was shown to play a key role in NASH progression.

Background: Rapid Advice Guidelines (RAG) provide decision makers with guidance to respond to public health emergencies by developing evidence-based recommendations in a short period of time with a scientific and standardized approach. However, the experience from the development process of a RAG has so far not been systematically summarized. Therefore, our working group will take the experience of the development of the RAG for children with COVID-19 as an example to systematically explore the methodology, advantages, and challenges in the development of the RAG.
