Objective: To assess the impacts of electroacupuncture (EA) on the gait, oxidative stress, inflammatory reaction, and protein degradation in the rats of denervated skeletal muscle atrophy, and explore the potential mechanism of EA for alleviating denervated skeletal muscle atrophy.
Methods: Forty male SD rats, 8 weeks old, were randomly assigned to a sham-surgery group, a model group, an EA group, and a p38 MAPK inhibitor group, with 10 rats in each group. The right sciatic nerve was transected to establish a rat model of denervated skeletal muscle atrophy in the model group, the EA group and the p38 MAPK inhibitor group.

Theranostic applications in atherosclerosis plaque microenvironment-triggered nanoplatforms are significantly compromised by the complex synthesis procedure, non-specific distribution, and limited therapeutic function. Therefore, development of a facile and feasible method to construct a pathology-based stimuli-responsive nanoplatform with satisfactory theranostic performance remains a demanding and highly anticipated goal. Herein, a novel class of multifunctional supra-carbon dots (CDs), denoted as MM@Ce-CDs NPs, by a simple nanoassembly and a subsequent coating with macrophage membrane (MM), is developed for the targeted reactive oxygen species-trigged theranostic and positive regulation of the pathological plaque microenvironment in AS.

Geese, both wild and domestic, are generally considered part of the natural reservoir for influenza A viruses. The highly pathogenic H5 Goose/Guangdong avian influenza virus lineage that is still causing outbreaks worldwide was first detected in domestic geese in 1996. However, while wild geese might have a somewhat restricted role in the influenza ecosystem, the role of domestic geese is little studied.

Background: Return to work (RTW) serves as an indication for young and middle-aged colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors to resume their normal social lives. However, these survivors encounter significant challenges during their RTW process. Hence, scientific research is necessary to explore the barriers and facilitating factors of returning to work for young and middle-aged CRC survivors.

Background: Laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) can be challenging due to the difficulty of establishing a retrohepatic tunnel under laparoscopy. Dissecting the third hepatic hilum before parenchymal transection often leads to significant liver mobilization, tumor compression, and bleeding from the short hepatic veins (SHVs). This study introduces a novel technique utilizing the ventral avascular area of the inferior vena cava (IVC), allowing SHVs to be addressed after parenchymal transection, thereby reducing surgical complexity and improving outcomes in in situ LLR.

Chronic diabetic wounds present significant treatment challenges due to their complex microenvironment, often leading to suboptimal healing outcomes. Hydrogen sulfide (HS), a crucial gaseous signaling molecule, has shown great potential in modulating inflammation, oxidative stress and extracellular matrix remodeling, which are essential for effective wound healing. However, conventional HS delivery systems lack the adaptability required to meet the dynamic demands of different healing stages, thereby limiting their therapeutic efficacy.

Mucormycosis is considered a rare but highly lethal fungal infection, often occurring in patients with poorly controlled diabetes or immunosuppression. Pulmonary mucormycosis progresses rapidly and is often associated with pulmonary infarction and hemoptysis. In this case report, we presented a young, immunocompetent female patient with newly diagnosed diabetes who was diagnosed early with infection through metagenomic next-generation sequencing.

Background: Early differentiation between spinal tuberculosis (STB) and acute osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) is crucial for determining the appropriate clinical management and treatment pathway, thereby significantly impacting patient outcomes.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of deep learning (DL) models using reconstructed sagittal CT images in the differentiation of early STB from acute OVCF, with the aim of enhancing diagnostic precision, reducing reliance on MRI and biopsies, and minimizing the risks of misdiagnosis.
Methods: Data were collected from 373 patients, with 302 patients recruited from a university-affiliated hospital serving as the training and internal validation sets, and an additional 71 patients from another university-affiliated hospital serving as the external validation set.

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is primarily driven by inflammatory processes within the cochlea, where noise exposure triggers the activation of the NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, leading to an inflammatory cascade. The interaction between increased NLRP3 expression and NF-κB activity can further amplify cochlear inflammation. Our findings reveal that (R)-PFI-2 hydrochloride, a selective inhibitor of the SETD7 enzyme, effectively inhibits the activation of the cochlear NF-κB pathway, suppresses the release of pro-inflammatory factors, and prevents inflammasome assembly.

Background And Objectives: Despite achieving ideal reperfusion (eTICI = 3) through endovascular treatment (EVT), some acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients still experience poor outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tirofiban in AIS patients with ideal reperfusion, focusing on its effects in large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) and cardioembolic (CE) stroke.
Methods: A total of 474 AIS patients from the RESCUE-BT database were included.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) represents the commonly occurring cardiac arrhythmia and the main factor leading to stroke and heart failure. Hydrogen (H2) is a gaseous signaling molecule that has the effects of anti-inflammation and antioxidation. Our study provides evidence that hydrogen decreases susceptibility to AngII-mediated AF together with atrial fibrosis.

Introduction: Laennec's capsule serves as a critical anatomical landmark in anatomical liver resection. Despite its potential, a lack of large-scale prospective studies limits the widespread use of the Laennec approach for minimally invasive hepatectomy. This multicenter cohort study aimed to compare the outcomes of the traditional and Laennec approaches in minimally invasive anatomical hepatectomy across multiple centers in China.

Background: Acetaminophen serves as a standard antipyretic and analgesic agent in the intensive care unit (ICU). However, the association between its administration and acute kidney injury (AKI) among critically ill patients remains controversial, particularly lacking research in patients with Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). Our aim was to explore the potential relationship between early acetaminophen administration and AKI in critically ill patients with concurrent CDI.

Cluster of differentiation 36 (CD36) is a transmembrane glycoprotein with the ability to bind to multiple ligands and perform diverse functions. Through the recognition of long-chain fatty acids, proteins containing thrombospondin structural homology repeat domains such as thrombospondin-1, and molecules with molecular structures consistent with danger- or pathogen-associated molecular patterns, CD36 participates in various physiological and pathological processes of the body. CD36 is widely expressed in various cell types, including hepatocytes and KCs in the liver, where it plays a pivotal role in lipid metabolism, inflammation, and oxidative stress.
