Objective: We previously reported that genetic ablation of (Fibroblast Growth Factors Receptors) FGFR1 in knee cartilage attenuates the degeneration of articular cartilage in adult mice, which suggests that FGFR1 is a potential targeting molecule for osteoarthritis (OA). Here, we identified R1-P1, an inhibitory peptide for FGFR1 and investigated its effect on the pathogenesis of OA in mice induced by destabilization of medial meniscus (DMM).

Design: Binding ability between R1-P1 and FGFR1 protein was evaluated by enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA) and molecular docking.

It has been reported that overactivation of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1 is an important characteristic found in most non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) samples. Here, we identified a FGFR1 inhibitory peptide R1-P2 and investigated its effects on the lung cancer cells growth and angiogenesis and . Our results demonstrate that R1-P2 bound to human FGFR1 protein, and efficiently blocked the binding of FGF2 to FGFR1 in A549 and NCI-H460 cells.

The inhibition effects and mechanisms of chlorinated methane, anthraquinone and acetylene on methanogenesis in the anaerobic digestion process of biodegradable solid wastes were investigated. It was found that both chloroform and acetylene could effectively inhibit methanogens. Acetylene inhibited the activity of methanogens, while chloroform inhibited metabolic process of methanogenesis.

Unlabelled: This paper presents two new ideas. The first one is to apply the Viola integral waveform method to analyze the heart sounds recorded by an electric stethoscope, and the multi-scale moment analysis is proposed to locate each cycle of heart sounds. A fast algorithm for calculating characteristic waveform (CW) and characteristic moment waveform (CMW) of heart sound can be expressed by the Viola integral method, and their calculation time has nothing to do with their scales.

The feasibility and the accuracy of the correlation coefficient (CC) method for the determination of particle positions along the optical axis in digital particle holography were verified by validation experiments. A translation system capable of high precision was used to move the particle objects by exact known distances between several different positions. The particle positions along the optical axis were calculated by the CC method and compared with their exact values to obtain the errors of the focus plane determination.

A new set of descriptors was derived from a matrix of three structural variables of the natural amino acid, including van der Waal's volume, net charge index and hydrophobic parameter of side residues. They were selected from many properties of amino acid residues, which have been validated being the key factors to influence the interaction between peptides and its protein receptor. They were then applied to structure characterization and QSAR analysis on bitter tasting di-peptide, agiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor and bactericidal peptides by using multiple linear regression (MLR) method.

In the present paper, the 45 X 45 energy matrix of the 3d2 ions in trigonal symmetry with the strong-field-coupling mechanism is established. The forty-five optical energy levels and five EPR parameters (including the zero-field splitting D, g factors g//, g perpendicular and hyperfine structure constants A//, A perpendicular) of ZnO : V3+ cryst are calculated from the diagonalization of this complete energy matrix. The calculated results are in agreement with the observed values.

Detoxification of chromium slag by chromate resistant bacteria.

This paper presented direct detoxification of chromium slag by using microorganisms. Our work showed that a bacterial consortium isolated from chromium slag can efficiently accelerate Cr(VI) leaching rate and remove it. The chromate resistant bacterial consortium consists of three strains.
