High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) has been recently shown as a rapidly developing new technique for non-invasive ablation of local tumors whose therapeutic efficiency can be significantly improved by changing the tissue acoustic environment (AET). Currently, the method of changing AET is mainly to introduce a medium with high acoustic impedance, but there are some disadvantages such as low retention of the introduced medium in the target area and a short residence time during the process. In our strategy, anaerobic bacterium Bifidobacterium longum (B.

Uterine sarcomas constitute a rare heterogeneous group of gynecological malignancies with aggressive characteristics and poor prognosis. They have similar clinical features to benign leiomyomata making them difficult to reliably identify prior to hysterectomy. The preoperative prediction of uterine sarcoma remains a clinical dilemma.

The BMSCs migration was researched from cell and animal experiments. In the cell experiment, the BMSCs was treated using LIPUS (30 mW/cm, 20 min/day, 2 days), and the wound healing and transwell migration were observed.

The hypoxic region microenvironment reduces the susceptibility of the cancer cells to radiotherapy and anticancer drugs of the solid tumors. However, the reduced oxygen surroundings provide an appreciable habitat for anaerobic bacteria to colonize and proliferate. Herein, we present a biocompatible bacteriabased system that can deliver poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA) nanoparticles(PLGA NPs) specifically targeting into solid tumor to achieve precision imaging and treatment.

High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a noninvasive thermal ablation technique for the treatment of benign and malignant solid masses. To improve the efficacy of HIFU ablation, we developed poly (lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) nanoparticles encapsulating perfluoropentane (PFP) and hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether (HMME) as synergistic agents (HMME+PFP/PLGA). Two-step biotin-avidin pre-targeting technique was applied for the HIFU ablation.

High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) has been recently regarded to be a new type of technique for non-invasive ablation of local tumors and HIFU synergists could significantly improve its therapeutic efficiency. The therapeutic efficiency of HIFU is greatly limited by the low retention of HIFU synergists in the target area and short residence time. This study aimed to explore a method to increase the deposition of HIFU synergists in tumors.

Background: Multi-echo gradient echo (GRE) sequence with bipolar readout gradients can reduce achievable echo spacing and thus have higher acquisition efficiency compared to unipolar readout gradients for fat fraction (FF) quantification. However, the eddy current induced phase (EC-phase) in a bipolar sequence corrupts the phase consistency between echoes and can lead to inaccurate fat quantification.
Methods: A hierarchical iterative linear-fitting algorithm (HILA) was proposed for EC-phase correction.

An important reason for the failure of current antifungal drugs is related to biofilm formation, mostly associated with implanted medical devices. The present study investigated the synergistic antifungal efficacy of low-frequency and low-intensity ultrasound combined with amphotericin B (AmB)-loaded poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles (AmB-NPs) against biofilms.

To develop biomaterials for inducing osteogenic and angiogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is crucial for bone repair. In this study, we employed titania nanotubes (TNT) as drug nanoreservoirs to load deferoxamine (DFO), and then deposited chitosan (Chi) and gelatin (Gel) multilayer as coverage structure via layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly technique, resulting in TNT-DFO-LBL substrates. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and contact angle measurements were employed to characterize the physical and chemical properties of the substrates.

Purpose: Real-time monitoring is important for the safety and effectiveness of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy. Magnetic resonance imaging is the preferred imaging modality for HIFU monitoring, with its unique capability of temperature imaging. For real-time temperature imaging, higher temporal resolution and larger spatial coverage are needed.

Unlabelled: We used surface-modified titanium (Ti) substrates with a multilayered structure composed of chitosan-catechol (Chi-C), gelatin (Gel) and hydroxyapatite (HA) nanofibers, which were previously shown to improve osteogenesis, as a platform to investigate the interaction of osteogenesis and angiogenesis during bone healing. Combined techniques of Transwell co-culture, wound healing assay, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), western blotting and immunohistochemical staining were used to evaluate adhesion, morphology and migration of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Ad-MSCs) and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) grown on different Ti substrates. We investigated the effect of substrates on the osteogenic differentiation of Ad-MSCs and reciprocal paracrine effects of Ad-MSCs on HUVECs or vice versa.
