Background: Acetaminophen serves as a standard antipyretic and analgesic agent in the intensive care unit (ICU). However, the association between its administration and acute kidney injury (AKI) among critically ill patients remains controversial, particularly lacking research in patients with Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). Our aim was to explore the potential relationship between early acetaminophen administration and AKI in critically ill patients with concurrent CDI.

A highly sensitive sulfur dioxide (SO) photoacoustic gas sensor was developed for the sulfur hexafluoride (SF) decomposition detection in electric power systems by using a novel 266 nm low-cost high-power solid-state pulse laser and a high -factor differential photoacoustic cell. The ultraviolet (UV) pulse laser is based on a passive -switching technology with a high output power of 28 mW. The photoacoustic signal was normalized to the laser power to solve the fluctuation of the photoacoustic signal due to the power instability of the UV laser.

Serious electron leakage and poor hole injection efficiency are still challenges for deep ultraviolet AlGaN-based light-emitting diodes with a traditional structure in achieving high performance. Currently, the majority of research works concentrate on optimizing the structures of the electron blocking layer (EBL) and last quantum barrier (LQB) separately, rather than considering them as an integrated structure. Therefore, in this study, an Al-content-varied AlGaN composite last quantum barrier (CLQB) layer is proposed to replace the traditional EBL and LQB layers.

Key Laboratory of New Technology for Construction of Cities in Mountain Area, School of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400000, China.

According to the mechanical characteristics of joints in steel-concrete composite bridge decks under the combined bending and shear, improved joint details with simple structure and convenient construction were studied, including lapped U-bars, lapped headed bars, and lapped hook bars. In order to test the mechanical properties of the three joint details and compare them with the existing lapped/welded linear bars, the tests of five specimens were carried out. The cracking load, ultimate load, failure mode, crack pattern, and reinforcement strain were analyzed.

Investigation of Shear Behavior in High-Strength Bolt Connectors for Steel-Concrete Composite Beams.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Key Laboratory of New Technology for Construction of Cities in Mountain Area, School of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400045, China.

High-strength bolt connectors, known for their robust strength and ease of disassembly, are suitable not only for the construction of new steel-concrete composite beams but also for reinforcing existing composite or steel beams. Static push-out tests were performed on nine specimens to examine their shear behavior. The primary failure mode was observed at the steel-concrete interface, characterized by the tensile-shear failure of the bolt and localized crushing of the concrete beneath the bolt.

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Near-Range RF Sensing ICs and Microsystems (NJUST), Ministry of Education, School of Electronic and Optical Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing 210094, China.

Frequency-selective surfaces (FSSs) have attracted great attention owing to their unique feature to manipulate transmission performance over the frequency domain. In this work, a filtering antenna-filtering antenna (FA-FA) FSS with a wide passband and double-side sharp roll-off characteristics is presented by inter-using the filtering antenna and receiving-transmitting metasurface methods. First, a dual-polarized filtering antenna element was designed by employing a parasitic band-stop structure with an L-probe feed.

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Biorheological Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, College of Bioengineering, Chongqing University, No. 174 Shazheng Road, Chongqing, 400044, China.

Direct electrochemical detection of miRNA biomarkers in tumor tissue interstitial fluid (TIF) holds great promise for adjuvant therapy for tumors in the perioperative period, yet is limited by background interference and weak signal. Herein, a wash-free and separation-free miRNA biosensor based on photoexcited electro-driven reactive oxygen channeling analysis (LEOCA) is developed to solve the high-fidelity detection in physiological samples. In the presence of miRNA, nanoacceptors (ultrasmall-size polydopamine, uPDA) are responsively assembled on the surface of nanodonors (zirconium metal-organic framework, ZrMOF) to form core-satellite aggregates.
