This study was aimed to investigate the factors influencing long-term survival on patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia. Here, we present a single center retrospective study with long-term follow-up to explore the prognostic factors and a rationale of the using of ATRA, chemotherapy and As(2)O(3) in the treatment of newly diagnosed APL patients. In total, 222 patients, 184 achieved complete remission (CR) with the CR rate of 82.

It is the problems facing acupuncture and moxibustion medicines in our country that the course of modernization has a tendency to deviating guidance of TCM theories; the course of internalization lacks legislative guarantee; the kinds of diseases treated decrease year by year; professional structures shrink, with lower therapeutic fee, and acupuncture and moxibustion are divorced from each other, making it develop slowly; income of acupuncturists is low so as to a large number of talent outflow; international talent for acupuncture and moxibustion lack systematical and scientific training. Objective: To control the medicinal plant diseases with the preparation of Trichoderma harzianum.
Method: Antagonistic action of the preparation to the pathogens of the medicinal plants in vitro, and controling effects of the preparation on these diseases in greenhouse and in the field were tested.
Result: The test in vitro showed that Trichoderma harzianum, used as a biocontrol factor, had stronger antagonistic action to Fusarium equiseti, Sclerotinia sp.

A new technique for reduction mammaplasty or mastopexy techniques is presented, which the authors call the dermal bra. The surgical steps are described point by point. A series of 36 patients underwent reduction mammaplasty or mastopexy by means of this technique from January of 1998 to April of 2001.

In order to investigate the changes of molybdenum (Mo), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn) and seleniumin (Se) level in serum of tuberculosis patients, the concentrations of Mo, Zn, Cu, Mn and Zn in serum of 30 tuberculosis patients and 30 health controls were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spetrometry. The results showed that compared with the control group, the levels of Mo, Zn, Cu, and Se in the serum of tuberculosis patients decreased significantly (P < 0.001), but the change of Mn was insignificant (P > 0.

Objective: To explore the effects of the reconstruction of both eyebrows with scalp flaps with pedicles supplied by superficial temporal arteries.
Methods: The parietal branch of the superficial temporal and its anastomotic branch of occipital artery at temporoparietal region on the same side were designed as the pedicles, with which two scalp flaps on temporoparietal and temporo-occipital regions with reverse directions were employed to restore the eyebrows on both sides.
Results: Four patients were treated with this method with satisfactory appearance and survival rate (100%).

Aim: To study the neurotrophic effects of (-) and (+)clausenamide on frontal cortex neurons in culture.
Methods: The activity of the choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) was determined by spectrophotometric method; protein content was assayed by Folin phenol method.
Results: (-)Clausenamide increased the activity of ChAT and protein content in cultured neurons, as well as stimulated proliferation of neuronal cells, support survival and neurite outgrowth of neurons.
