Introduction: Diabetic ocular complications include sight-threatening consequences and decreased corneal sensitivity, characterized by decreased tear production, corneal sensitivity and delayed corneal epithelial wound healing. The pathogenesis of diabetic corneal disorders remains largely unknown. Growing evidence implies the participation of immune cells in the development of diabetic corneal diseases.

Safety and precision of frontal trajectory of lateral habenula deep brain stimulation surgery in treatment-resistant depression.

Introduction: The lateral habenula (LHb) is a promising deep brain stimulation (DBS) target for treatment-resistant depression (TRD). However, the optimal surgical trajectory and its safety of LHb DBS are lacking.

Methods: We reported surgical trajectories for the LHb in six TRD patients treated with DBS at the General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army between April 2021 and May 2022.

Gm614 Protects Germinal Center B Cells From Death by Suppressing Caspase-1 Transcription in Lupus-Prone Mice.

Only a few signaling pathways have been reported in germinal center (GC) B-cell proliferation and death. In this study, we showed that a novel uncharacterized Gm614 protein is highly expressed in GC B cells from lupus-prone mice. Critically, ablation of this GC B-cell-specific Gm614 promoted GC B-cell death and mitigation of autoimmune symptoms, whereas overexpression protected GC B cells from death and exacerbated autoimmune symptoms.

Background And Aims: There is inconsistent evidence that behavioural support to promote smoking reduction is effective at increasing smoking cessation. We examined the effectiveness of brief physician advice together with four very brief telephone calls in promoting smoking cessation among Chinese men via reduction compared with equivalent advice on diet and exercise.

Design: A two-group pragmatic randomized controlled trial.
