Infections caused by () have emerged as a global public health concern because of high pathogenicity of this bacterium. Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) have a lower likelihood of promoting drug resistance and offer targeted treatment, thereby reducing potential adverse effects; however, the therapeutic potential of mAbs targeting i has not been fully characterized. In this study, mAbs against the outer membrane proteins (OMPs) of were isolated in a high-throughput manner.

Purpose: Existing literatures on the potential impact of soy protein consumption on kidney function present conflicting findings. In this study, a meta-analysis has been conducted to assess the impact of soy protein consumption in comparison to animal protein consumption among individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Methods: A structured electronic search was conducted on Medline, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library for randomized controlled trials published up to March 2024.

Phosphorothioation serves as a DNA backbone modification mechanism, wherein a sulfur atom substitutes the nonbridging oxygen atom within the phosphodiester, facilitated by the gene products of dndABCDE or sspABCD. The combination of dndABCDE with dndFGH forms a bona fide defense system, where the DndFGH protein complex exhibits DNA nickase and DNA translocase activities to prevent phage invasion. In this study, we identified that dndI, co-transcribed with dndFGH, can independently couple with iscS-dndBCDE as an anti-phage defense system.

Background: Lupus nephritis (LN) is the most common cause of kidney injury in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients and is associated with increased mortality. DNA methylation, one of the most important epigenetic modifications, has been reported as a key player in the pathogenesis of SLE. Hence, our article aimed to explore DNA methylation in CD4 T cells from LNs to identify additional potential biomarkers and pathogenic genes involved in the progression of LN.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a form of clonal plasma cell malignancy that associates with clinical manifestations such as anemia, hypercalcemia, bone pain, and renal impairment. Approximately 20-50% of MM patients at initial diagnosis experience renal injury, a vital complication that significantly influences prognosis and quality of life. This review seeks to clarify the multifaceted mechanisms of renal injury in MM, scrutinizing the pathogenic role of monoclonal proteins, the impact of hypercalcemia, and direct renal infiltration by plasma cells.

Objective: To explore the potential of metanephric mesenchymal cells (MMCs) for osteogenesis and naringin's ability to enhance this process and its molecular mechanism.
Methods: Porcine MMCs at 70 days of gestation were used as tool cells, cultured in osteogenic induction medium, identified by immunocytochemistry staining. Osteogenic potential of porcine MMCs and naringin's ability to enhance this process was tested by detecting changes in cell viability, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, the expression of runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), osteopontin (OPN) and osteocalcin (OCN), and the formation of mineralized nodules, and the application of the p38 signaling pathway inhibitor SB203580 vitiated the osteogenesis-promoting effect of naringin.

Purpose: Renal interstitial fibrosis is a pathological manifestation of the progression of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Dendrobium officinale polysaccharides (DOP), one of the major active components of Dendrobium officinale, have hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects and are used clinically to treat diabetes. However, the role of DOP in delaying DKD progression remains unclear.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) can cause distal cardiac dysfunction; however, the underlying mechanism is unknown. Oxidative stress is proved prominent in AKI-induced cardiac dysfunction, and a possible bridge role of oxidative-stress products in cardio-renal interaction has been reported. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the critical role of circulating reactive oxygen species (ROS) in mediating cardiac dysfunction after bilateral renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI).

The number of anti-neutrophil cytoplasm antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV), anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease and double-positive patients (DPPs) following the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine reported in the literature is increasing, we reviewed the reported cases of AAV, anti-GBM disease and DPPs subsequent to COVID-19 vaccination, and compared the disparities in DPPs who received the COVID-19 vaccination and those who did not. We did not observe any differences in clinical phenotype of AAV, anti-GBM disease and DPPs before and after severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccination.

Aim: Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are more susceptible to endothelial dysfunction and cardiovascular disease (CV). Remote ischemic preconditioning (rIPC) has been proven efficient in improving endothelial function and lowering the risk of CV. However, the safety and effect of rIPC on endothelial function in patients with CKD have not been effectively assessed.

Aging-associated renal dysfunction promotes the pathogenesis of chronic kidney disease. Mitochondrial dysfunction in renal tubular epithelial cells is a hallmark of senescence and leads to accelerated progression of renal disorders. Dysregulated calcium profiles in mitochondria contribute to aging-associated disorders, but the detailed mechanism of this process is not clear.

Retinoid-related orphan receptor gamma t (RORγt) is the lineage-specific transcription factor for T helper 17 (Th17) cells. Our previous study demonstrated that STAT3 likely participates in the activation of RORCE2 (a novel enhancer of the RORγt gene) in Th17 cells. However, the detailed mechanism is still unclear.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Controversy persists regarding the treatment of immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN), thereby highlighting the demand for safer more effective therapeutic drugs. Although supplementary treatment using Yi-Shen-Hua-Shi (YSHS) granules has distinct advantages with respect to improving renal function in IgAN, a lack of clarity regarding the underlying mechanisms limits their clinical application.
Aim Of The Study: In this study, we aimed to elucidate the therapeutic mechanisms underlying the efficacy of YSHS granules in the treatment of IgAN.

Neurotrophic keratopathy is a persistent defect of the corneal epithelium, with or without stromal ulceration, due to corneal nerve deficiency caused by a variety of etiologies. The treatment options for neurotrophic keratopathy are limited. In this study, an ophthalmic solution was constructed from a chitosan-based thermosensitive hydrogel with long-term release of murine nerve growth factor (CTH-mNGF).
