Oncolytic vaccinia virus (VVs) based immunotherapy is a rapidly developing treatment for gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. Conventional treatments, such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery achieve good effects in early-stage GI cancers, but effects are limited in advanced disease. Immunotherapy has limited efficacy in GI cancers due to tumor heterogeneity and complex immunosuppressive mechanisms.

Sulfate (SO) is a pivotal inorganic anion with essential roles in mammalian physiology. NaS1, a member of solute carrier 13 family and divalent anion/sodium symporter family, functions as a Na-sulfate cotransporter, facilitating sulfate (re)absorption across renal proximal tubule and small intestine epithelia. While previous studies have linked several human disorders to mutations in the gene, its transport mechanism remains unclear.

Purpose: To translate and cross-culturally adapt Fukushima Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Scale into a Simplified Chinese version (FLS-25-SC), and evaluate the reliability and validity of FLS-25-SC in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis.
Methods: Test-retest reliability was assessed by Intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC). Construct validity was analyzed by correlations between FLS-25-SC and the Swiss Spinal Stenosis (SSS) Questionnaire, Visual analogue scale (VAS) as well as the short form (36) health survey (SF-36).

Objective: This network meta-analysis aims to explore the efficacy and safety of neuroprotective agents in patients with ischemic stroke and attempts to identify which drug is the most effective in improving outcomes for patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) through a ranking method.
Methods: We comprehensively searched the PubMed, Medline, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane library databases from their establishment to 30 June 2024. Data were extracted from the studies identified, and their quality was assessed using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool or the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS).

Objective: This study aims to clearly define the effects of Banxia-Yiyiren on the gut microbiota and its metabolites in a para-chlorophenylalanine-induced insomnia model and the possible underlying mechanisms involved.
Materials And Methods: We employed 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) gene sequencing combined with metabonomic analysis to explore the mutual effects of the PCPA-induced insomnia model and the gut microbiota and the intrinsic regulatory mechanism of Banxia-Yiyiren on the gut microbiota and metabolites in the PCPA-induced insomnia model.
Results: Banxia-Yiyiren was identified by mass spectrometry to include amino acids, small peptides, nucleotides, organic acids, flavonoids, fatty acids, lipids, and other main compound components.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells plays key roles in the pathogenesis of multiple vitreoretinal diseases, leading to profound and permanent vision loss. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are widespread and functional endogenous RNAs that could regulate gene expression in eukaryotes. The functions of circRNAs in mediating EMT has been reported in several diseases.

Background: The rapid development of neurosurgical techniques, such as awake craniotomy, has increased opportunities to explore the mysteries of the brain. This is crucial for deepening our understanding of motor control and imagination processes, especially in developing brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies and improving neurorehabilitation strategies for neurological disorders.
Objective: This study aimed to analyze brain activity patterns in patients undergoing awake craniotomy during actual movements and motor imagery, mainly focusing on the motor control processes of the bilateral limbs.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) and cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) are neurodegenerative disorders characterized by the pathological deposition of amyloid-beta (Aβ) in the brain. Although both conditions share common pathogenic pathways, they exhibit distinct cellular manifestations and disease progression. This study focused on the differential expression and role of astrocytic colony-stimulating factor 1 (CSF1) in these diseases.

Persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) is the principal etiological factor of cervical cancer. Considering the gradual progression of cervical cancer, the early, rapid, sensitive, and specific identification of HPV, particularly HR-HPV types, is crucial in halting the advancement of the illness. Here, we established a rapid, highly sensitive, and specific HR-HPV detection platform, leveraging the CRISPR/Cas12a assay in conjunction with multienzyme isothermal rapid amplification.

Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) can cause life-threatening central nervous system infection. Changes in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) metabolites may reflect critical aspects of host responses and end-organ damage in neuro infection and neuroinflammation. In this study, we applied an untargeted metabolomics screen of CSF samples to investigate the metabolites profile and explore biomarkers for TBEV infection.

Background: The underlying mechanism of human umbilical-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) therapy for renal senescence in post-acute kidney injury (post-AKI) remains unclear. Unopposed mitochondrial fusion-based mitochondrial elongation is required for cellular senescence. This study attempted to dissect the role of hUC-MSCs therapy in modulating mitochondrial elongation-related senescence by hUC-MSCs therapy in post-AKI.

Background: Deep partial-thickness burns have a significant impact on both the physical and mental health of patients. Our previous study demonstrated human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) could enhance the healing of severe burns in small animal burn models, such as rats. Furthermore, our team has developed a deep partial-thickness burn model in Bama miniature pigs, which can be utilized for assessing drug efficacy in preclinical trials for wound healing.
