Studies have suggested volatile anaesthetics may alleviate depression and anxiety symptoms in patients. However, there is a paucity of research in this area. We wanted to determine the association between volatile anaesthetics and depression/anxiety symptoms in elderly patients within 7 days after surgery.

Purpose: Prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography (PSMA-PET) guided targeted biopsy has shown potential for detecting more prostate cancer (PCa) cases. However, relying exclusively on imaging may risk missing lesions, an issue that could be addressed by incorporating radiation-guided technology. Accordingly, we aimed to develop a novel PSMA radiotracer with a long half-life, [Cu]Cu-DOTA-PSMA-3Q, and evaluate its targeting accuracy.

Infections caused by () have emerged as a global public health concern because of high pathogenicity of this bacterium. Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) have a lower likelihood of promoting drug resistance and offer targeted treatment, thereby reducing potential adverse effects; however, the therapeutic potential of mAbs targeting i has not been fully characterized. In this study, mAbs against the outer membrane proteins (OMPs) of were isolated in a high-throughput manner.

It is well-known that childhood obesity is associated with various adult gastrointestinal diseases, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) being no exception. However, previous epidemiological observational studies, while reporting a correlation between the 2, have left the question of a causal relationship inconclusive. This study aims to use a 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to assess the causal relationship between childhood obesity and IBD as well as its subtypes (ulcerative colitis [UC] and Crohn disease [CD]).

Purpose: Existing literatures on the potential impact of soy protein consumption on kidney function present conflicting findings. In this study, a meta-analysis has been conducted to assess the impact of soy protein consumption in comparison to animal protein consumption among individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Methods: A structured electronic search was conducted on Medline, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library for randomized controlled trials published up to March 2024.

Phosphorothioation serves as a DNA backbone modification mechanism, wherein a sulfur atom substitutes the nonbridging oxygen atom within the phosphodiester, facilitated by the gene products of dndABCDE or sspABCD. The combination of dndABCDE with dndFGH forms a bona fide defense system, where the DndFGH protein complex exhibits DNA nickase and DNA translocase activities to prevent phage invasion. In this study, we identified that dndI, co-transcribed with dndFGH, can independently couple with iscS-dndBCDE as an anti-phage defense system.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are pivotal in the distant metastasis of tumors, serving as one of the primary materials for liquid biopsy. They hold significant clinical importance in assessing prognosis, predicting efficacy, evaluating therapeutic outcomes, and studying recurrence, metastasis, and resistance mechanisms in cancer patients. Nevertheless, the rareness and heterogeneity of CTC and the complexity of metastasis make the clinical application of CTC detection confront many challenges, which may need to be settled by some practical strategies.

Objectives: This paper aims to investigate the application of intraoral scanning and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) registration implant robot in dental implant surgery.
Methods: The data of 40 cases with dental defect of robot-assisted implantation from November 2023 to May 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. Before the operation, the intraoral scan data and CBCT data of the positioning markers were automatically fused with the initial CBCT images, and the registration error was calculated.

Background: Excessive oxidative stress is known to cause endothelial dysfunction and drive cardiovascular diseases (CVD). While telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) shows protective effects against oxidative stress in rodents and is associated to human flow-mediated dilation in CVD, its regulatory mechanisms in human vascular systems under pathological oxidative stress require further investigation.
Methods: Human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) were used to create vascular organoids (VOs).

Purpose: Combination immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) with chemotherapeutic agents has proven to be highly promising in cancer therapy. However, low response rate, immune-related adverse events, and lack of effectively targeted co-delivery strategy are still major hurdles to overcome for this combination therapeutic regimen. Herein, programmed death-L1 (PD-L1) antibody modified and dihydrotanshinone I (DHT) loaded nanoparticle was prepared for tumor targeting drug delivery, thus achieving immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) and immunogenic cell death (ICD) synergistic anti-tumor effects.

Methods: A total of 506 HCC patients who underwent preoperative US-CEUS examinations from 8 hospitals between July 2020 and June 2023 were enrolled. According to the MVI status, all the patients were classified, and HCC differentiation was assessed by using Edmondson-Steiner (ES) grading: MVI-negative (M0) and low-grade ES (GI/II) (MN-L, n = 297) and MVI-positive (M1/M2) and/or high-grade ES (GIII/IV) (MP-H, n = 209).

Objectives: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the quantitative flow ratio (QFR) for hemodynamic exploration of intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis, using the invasive cerebrovascular pressure ratio (CVPR) and resting full-cycle ratio (RFR) as reference standards.
Materials And Methods: Patients with symptomatic unifocal intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis were included. The CVPR was defined as the ratio of the proximal and distal pressures.

Voice is a vital tool for human communication, and its health spans across various stages of an individual's life cycle. This article discuss the importance of voice health from a lifecycle perspective, exploring the needs of voice, phonatory organ changes, the main etiologies and their incidence, the impact on social function, and treatment of voice disorders at different stages (childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age). During childhood, due to incomplete vocal cords development and weak behavioral control, the incidence of voice disorders is high, which adversely affects children's psychological and social function development.

Fluoride, a naturally occurring element found in water, soil, food, and atmospheric precipitation, can lead to fluorosis and various health issues when consumed excessively. However, the mechanism of fluorosis is still under investigation. This study utilizes Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism to investigate the effects of fluoride exposure on biological systems and to explore the mechanisms by which curcumin mitigates fluoride-induced toxicity.

The pan-immune-inflammation value reflects the systemic inflammatory response, and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes indicate a local immune response in rectal cancer. However, the association between systemic inflammatory response, as indicated by the pan-immune-inflammation value, and local immune responses in rectal cancer remains unclear. This study analyzed 915 treatment-naïve rectal cancer patients from the Peking Union Medical College Hospital and PLA General Hospital (PLAGH) cohorts who underwent radical surgery to investigate the relationship between the pan-immune-inflammation value and immune responses.
