UVB radiation induces inflammatory and oxidative stress responses, contributing to skin damage, yet the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. N-Myc downstream-regulated gene 2 (NDRG2), an emerging stress-associated gene, remains unexplored in UVB-induced skin injury. In this study, we detected skin NDRG2 expression after UVB irradiation for the first time and further used Ndrg2 knockout mice to clarify the role of NDRG2 in UVB-induced skin injury.

Scar formation resulting from burns or severe trauma can significantly compromise the structural integrity of skin and lead to permanent loss of skin appendages, ultimately impairing its normal physiological function. Accumulating evidence underscores the potential of targeted modulation of mechanical cues to enhance skin regeneration, promoting scarless repair by influencing the extracellular microenvironment and driving the phenotypic transitions. The field of skin repair and skin appendage regeneration has witnessed remarkable advancements in the utilization of biomaterials with distinct physical properties.

The issue of hearing protection in the presence of noise pollution is of great importance in the fields of environmental science and clinical medicine. Currently, the clinical significance of Klotho in relation to hearing has not been revealed. The aim of this study was to examine the correlation between serum Klotho levels and Pure Tone Average (PTA) hearing thresholds among individuals in the U.

The incorporation of vasculature is known to be effective in tissue or organ functional regeneration. However, a vague understanding of the interaction between epidermal appendages and their vascular niches is a foremost obstacle to obtaining sweat gland (SG)-specific vasculature units. Here, we map their precise anatomical connections and report that the interplay between SG cells (SGCs) and the surrounding vascular niche is key for glandular development and homeostasis maintenance.

Eccrine sweat gland (SG) restrictedly exists in mouse foot pads indicating that mouse plantar dermis (PD) contains the SG lineage-restricted niches. However, it is still unclear how these niches can affect stem cell fate towards SG. In this study, we tried to find the key cues by which stem cells sense and interact with the SG lineage-specific niches both in vivo and in vitro.

Aims: Anti-angiotherapy (Bevacizumab) is currently regarded as a promising option for glioma patients who are resistant to temozolomide (TMZ) treatment. But ongoing clinical research failed to meet therapeutic expectations. This study aimed to explore the pivotal genetic feature responsible for TMZ and Bevacizumab resistance in glioma patients.

Glioma is a malignant tumor with the highest incidence among all brain tumors (about 46% of intracranial tumors) and is the most common primary intracranial tumor. Among them, glioblastoma (GBM) is highly malignant and is one of the three refractory tumors with the highest mortality rate in the world. The survival time from glioblastoma diagnosis to death is only 14-16 months for patients with standard treatment such as surgery plus radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Background: Sweat glands (SGs) and hair follicles (HFs) are two important cutaneous appendages that play crucial roles in homeostatic maintenance and thermoregulation, and their interaction is involved in wound healing. SGs can be regenerated from mesenchymal stem cell-laden 3D bioprinted scaffolds, based on our previous studies, whereas regeneration of HFs could not be achieved in the same model. Due to the lack of an model, the underlying molecular mechanism of the interaction between SGs and HFs in regeneration could not be fully understood.

Mesenchymal cells (MSCs) are an attractive option as seed cells for bioprinting. However, loss of stemness and undesired differentiation reduces their effectiveness. In this study, 12 nm bioactive nanoparticles (BNPs) which could release silicon (Si) ions were used to enhance the properties of alginate/gelatin hydrogel bioink to maintain MSC stemness.

Objective: Glioma is a devastating disease lacking effective treatment. Tumor electric field therapy is emerging as a novel non-invasive therapy. The current study evaluates the efficacy and safety of a self-designed tumor electric field therapy system (TEFTS ASCLU-300) in a rat orthotopic transplantation model of glioma.

Background: Glioma-related epilepsy (GRE) is defined as symptomatic epileptic seizures secondary to gliomas, it brings both heavy financial and psychosocial burdens to patients with diffuse glioma and significantly decreases their quality of life. To date, there have been no clinical guidelines that provide recommendations for the optimal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for GRE patients.
Methods: In March 2017, the Joint Task Force for GRE of China Association Against Epilepsy and Society for Neuro-Oncology of China launched the guideline committee for the diagnosis and treatment of GRE.
