Sepsis is a common critical illness characterized by high mortality rates and a significant disease burden. In the context of sepsis-induced organ dysfunction, the lungs are among the initial organs affected, which may progress to acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Recent studies have highlighted the crucial roles of mitophagy and ferroptosis in the development and progression of sepsis-induced ALI/ARDS.

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a complex multifactorial disease, in which genetic factors account for 50% of the risk of osteoarthritis. This study investigated the association between ITLN1, XCL2 and DOT1L variants and KOA risk in the Han population.
Methods: We applied Agena MassARRAY technology platform to genotype five single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 710 KOA patients and 709 controls.

Background: Insomnia is a clinical problem of significant public health importance; however, the underlying pathogenesis of this disorder is not comprehensively understood.
Methods: To identify potential treatment targets and unfold one of the gaps that were involved in insomnia pathological mechanisms, we employed a tandem mass tag-based (TMT) quantitative proteomics technology to detect differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in serum from patients with insomnia and controls. DEPs were further analyzed by bioinformatics platforms.

Background: Ivabradine has potent actions in reducing heart rate and improving clinical outcomes of chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). At present, only the short-acting formulation of ivabradine is available that needs to be administered twice daily.
Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the role of ivabradine hemisulfate sustained release (SR), a novel long-acting formulation of ivabradine dosed once daily, in stable patients with HFrEF.

Abnormal expression of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) is frequently linked to the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC). This work explored the function of lncRNA deleted in lymphocytic leukemia 2 (DLEU2) in CRC and the epigenetic mechanism. Candidate oncogenes in CRC were predicted using a GSE146587 dataset.

Background: Osteopontin plays critical roles in osteoarthritis (OA) by regulating the functions of osteoclasts. It is known that osteopontin can induce the expression of lncRNA HOX transcript antisense RNA (HOTAIR), indicating the involvement of HOTAIR in OA. This study was carried out to investigate the role of HOTAIR in OA.

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of acupuncture at Sifeng (EX-UE10) combined with Wang's Baochi Pills in the treatment of pediatric malnutrition, so as to provide a more effective method for pediatric malnutrition.
Methods: A total of 201 children with malnutrition were randomly divided into combined treatment group (=102) and control (Baochi Pill) group (=99). The children in the combined treatment group were treated by acupuncture stimulation of Sifeng (EX-UE10, till no more yellowish-white effusion out) and oral administration of Wang's Baochi Pills, and those in the control group treated by oral administration of Wang's Baochi Pills only.

BACKGROUND We clarified the imaging features of Brucella spondylitis to enhance our understanding of the disease and to minimize misdiagnosis. MATERIAL AND METHODS Imaging data (X-ray, computed tomography [CT], and magnetic resonance imaging [MRI] data) of 72 Brucella spondylitis patients treated from 2010 to 2017 were retrospectively analyzed; diagnoses was made by evaluating laboratory and pathological data. RESULTS X-ray films revealed changes in intervertebral space heights, the number of lateral osteophytes, and bone destruction, which were more severe in the following order: lumbosacral vertebrae (56 cases, 77.
