The scarcity of cost-effective and durable iridium-free anode electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) poses a significant challenge to the widespread application of the proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer (PEMWE). To address the electrochemical oxidation and dissolution issues of Ru-based electrocatalysts, an electron-donating modification strategy is developed to stabilize WRuO under harsh oxidative conditions. The optimized catalyst with a low Zirconium doping (Zr, 1 wt.

The design and synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with outstanding light-harvesting and photoexcitation for artificial photocatalytic CO reduction is an attractive but challenging task. In this work, a novel aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-active ligand, tetraphenylpyrazine (PTTBPC) is proposed and utilized for the first time to construct a Zr-MOF photocatalyst via coordination with stable Zr-oxo clusters. Zr-MOF is featured by a scu topology with a two-fold interpenetrated framework, wherein the PTTBPC ligands enable strong light-harvesting and photoexcitation, while the Zr-oxo clusters facilitate CO adsorption and activation, as well as offer potential sites for further metal modification.

Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), which typically occurs in patients between the ages of 10 and 18, can be caused by a variety of reasons, and no definitive cause has been found. Early diagnosis of AIS or timely recognition of progression is crucial for the prevention of spinal deformity and the reduction of the risk of surgery or postponement. However, it remains a significant challenge.

Unlabelled: The KREMEN1 (KRM1) protein is a cellular receptor for multiple enteroviruses that cause hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), including coxsackievirus CVA2, CVA3, CVA4, CVA5, CVA6, CVA10, and CVA12. The molecular basis for the broad recognition of these viruses by the KRM1 receptor remains unclear. Here, we report the indispensable role of the completely conserved VP2 capsid protein residue K140 (designated K2140) in mediating receptor recognition and infection by CVA10 and other KRM1-dependent enteroviruses.

The present paper comprises a systematic survey of trematodes and acanthocephalans based on helminthological examinations of 64 specimens of 14 species of freshwater fishes, belonging to six families of four fish orders, mostly from localities in Hubei Province, central China, collected in the autumn of 2002. A total of 15 trematode species (in 12 families) and 5 acanthocephalan species (in four families) was recorded. Almost all parasites are briefly described and illustrated and problems concerning their morphology, taxonomy, hosts and geographical distribution are discussed.

Nuclear Factor Y (NF-Y) represents a group of transcription factors commonly present in higher eukaryotes, typically consisting of three subunits: NF-YA, NF-YB, and NF-YC. They play crucial roles in the embryonic development, photosynthesis, flowering, abiotic stress responses, and other essential processes in plants. To better understand the genome-wide NF-Y domain-containing proteins, the protein physicochemical properties, chromosomal localization, synteny, phylogenetic relationships, genomic structure, promoter -elements, and protein interaction network of NtNF-Ys in tobacco ( L.

The concepts of planetary boundaries are influential in the sustainability literature and assist in delineating the 'safe operating spaces' beyond which critical Earth system processes could collapse. Moving away from our current trajectory towards 'hothouse Earth' will require knowledge of how Earth systems have varied throughout the Holocene, and whether and how far we have deviated from past ranges of variability. Such information can inform decisions about where change could be resisted, accepted or where adaptation is inevitable.

Enhancer clusters, pivotal in mammalian development and diseases, can organize as enhancer networks to control cell identity and disease genes; however, the underlying mechanism remains largely unexplored. Here, we introduce eNet 2.0, a comprehensive tool for enhancer networks analysis during development and diseases based on single-cell chromatin accessibility data.

Ice melting, a common yet complex phenomenon, remains incompletely understood. While theoretical studies suggest that preexisting defects in ice generate "off-lattice" water molecules, triggering bulk ice melting, direct experimental evidence of their form has been lacking as the transparent and transient nature of ice poses significant challenges for observation with current techniques. Here, we introduce an ice-melting-induced lyophilization (IMIL) technique that employs graphene-based nanoprobes to replicate and track liquid evolution within melting bulk ice.

Our recent investigations on the function of Drosophila CG11700 and CG32744 (Ubi-p5E) genes using CRISPR/Cas9 deletion technology could not repeat or confirm the results on CG11700 shown in our previous study which was based on P-element excision assay (Zhan et al. 2012). Here by CRISPR/Cas9 editing, we generated mutants of CG32744 with the whole gene body fully deleted from the genome, and truncated mutants of CG11700 with N-terminal 103 aa deleted out of its total 301 aa peptide sequence.

The pathogenesis of thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) in Marfan syndrome (MFS) is generally attributed to vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) pathologies. However, the role of immune cell-mediated inflammation remains elusive. Single-cell RNA sequencing identified a subset of CX3CR1+ macrophages mainly located in the intima in the aortic roots and ascending aortas of Fbn1C1041G/+ mice, further validated in MFS patients.

Achieving ultrahigh permeance and superoleophobicity is crucial for membrane application. Here, we demonstrated that a poly(ionic liquid)/PES hydrogel membrane can achieve dual goals. The high polarity of the ionic liquids induces the water molecules on the membrane surface to be arranged more ordered, as verified by molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and advanced femtosecond sum frequency generation (SFG) vibrational spectroscopy.

Background: There is a lack of clinical evidence on the efficacy and safety of transitioning from a thrice-daily pre-mixed insulin or basal-prandial regimen to insulin deglu-dec/aspart (IDegAsp) therapy, with insufficient data from the Chinese popu-lation.
Aim: To demonstrate the efficacy, safety, and treatment satisfaction associated with the transition to IDegAsp in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: In this 12-week open-label, non-randomized, single-center, pilot study, patients with T2DM receiving thrice-daily insulin or intensive insulin treatment were transitioned to twice-daily injections of insulin IDegAsp.

Defining metabolic health is critical for the earlier reversing of metabolic dysfunction and disease, and fasting-based diagnosis may not adequately assess an individual's metabolic adaptivity under stress. We constructed a novel Health State Map (HSM) comprising a Health Phenotype Score (HPS) with fasting features alone and a Homeostatic Resilience Score (HRS) with five time-point features only ( = 30, 60, 90, 180, 240 min) following a standardized mixed macronutrient tolerance test (MMTT). Among 111 Chinese adults, when the same set of fasting and post-MMTT data as for the HSM was used, the mixed-score was highly correlated with the HPS.

Hypoxia, caused by rapid tumor growth and insufficient oxygen supply, is a defining characteristic of numerous solid tumors and exerts a significant influence on tumor growth, metastasis, and invasion. Early diagnosis and effective killing of tumor cells are crucial for cancer treatment. In recent years, the emergence of nanomaterials has overcome the difficulties in the delivery of chemotherapeutic drugs and contrast agents to tumor area.

Stem cell transplantation is a promising strategy to establish neural relays in situ for spinal cord injury (SCI) repair. Recent research has reported short-term survival of exogenous cells, irrespective of immunosuppressive drugs (ISD), results in similar function recovery, though the mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to validate this short-term repair effect and the potential mechanisms in large animals.
