Soil fungi are essential to ecosystem processes, yet their elevational distribution patterns and the ecological mechanisms shaping their communities remain poorly understood and actively debated, particularly in arid regions. Here, we investigated the diversity patterns and underlying mechanisms shaping soil fungal communities along an elevational gradient (1,707-3,548 m) on the northern slope of the Central Kunlun Mountains in northwest China. Results indicated that the dominant phyla identified across the seven elevational gradients were and , displaying a unimodal pattern and a U-shaped pattern in relative abundance, respectively.

Railway bridges with lower beam bottom clearances in windblown sand areas tend to accumulate sand particles on the sides of the beams, which seriously impacts railway safety. To investigate the effect of beam clearance height on wind-sand movement near the surface, and to determine the minimum clearance height for railway bridges in such areas, computational fluid dynamics using the Euler-Euler two-phase flow model was employed to simulate the wind-sand flow field beneath bridges with different heights. The results indicated that as clearance height increased, both the high-speed area above the bridge and acceleration area under the bridge increased, while the turbulence area on the leeward side remained unchanged.

The black bream () is an economically important species widely distributed in China, with its geographic populations potentially having undergone differentiations and local adaptations. In this study, we presented a chromosome-level genome assembly of this species and investigated genetic differentiations of its populations that are allopatric (the northern one) and sympatric (the Poyang Lake) to its kin species, the blunt-snout bream (), using whole genome resequencing analysis. The results showed that the genome size of black bream was 1.

Broad-temperature optical thermometry necessitates materials with exceptional sensitivity and stability across varied thermal conditions, presenting challenges for conventional systems. Here, we report a lead-free, vacancy-ordered perovskite Cs2TeCl6, that achieves precise temperature sensing through a novel combination of self-trapped excitons (STEs) photoluminescence (PL) lifetime modulation and unprecedented fifth-order phonon anharmonicity. The STEs PL lifetime demonstrates a highly temperature-sensitive response from 200 to 300 K, ideal for low-to-intermediate thermal sensing.

Background: The inability of damaged neurons to regenerate and of axons to establish new functional connections leads to permanent functional deficits after spinal cord injury (SCI). Although astrocyte reprogramming holds promise for neurorepair in various disease models, it is not sufficient on its own to achieve significant functional recovery.
Methods: A rat SCI model was established using a spinal cord impactor.

Chemical modifications are widely used in research fields such as quantitative proteomics and interaction analyses. Chemical-modification targets can be roughly divided into four categories, including those that integrate isotope labels for quantification purposes, probe the structures of proteins through covalent labeling or cross-linking, incorporate labels to improve the ionization or dissociation of characteristic peptides in complex mixtures, and affinity-enrich various poorly abundant protein translational modifications (PTMs). A chemical modification reaction needs to be simple and efficient for use in proteomics analysis, and should be performed without any complicated process for preparing the labeling reagent.

Van der Waals (vdW) contact has been widely regarded as one of the most potential strategies for exploiting low-resistance metal-semiconductor junctions (MSJs) based on atomically thin transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), but this method is still not efficient due to weak metal-TMD interfacial interactions. Therefore, an understanding of interfacial interactions between metals and TMDs is essential for achieving low-resistance contacts with weak Fermi level pinning (FLP). Herein, we report how the interfacial interactions between metals and TMDs affect the electrical contacts by considering more than 90 MSJs consisting of a semiconducting TMD channel and different types of metal electrodes, including bulk metals, MXenes, and metallic TMDs.

Decentralized testing using multiplex lateral flow assays (mLFAs) to simultaneously detect multiple analytes can significantly enhance detection efficiency, reduce cost and time, and improve analytic accuracy. However, the challenges, including the monochromatic color of probe particles, interference between different test lines, and reduced specificity and sensitivity, severely hinder mLFAs from wide use. In this study, we prepared polydopamine (PDA)-coated dyed cellulose nanoparticles (dCNPs@P) with tunable colors as the probe for mLFAs.

Perovskite quantum dots (QDs) are high-efficiency optoelectronic materials attracting great interest, but further improvement in the luminescence efficiency is crucial for their application. In this work, we enhance both the spontaneous emission rate and the photoluminescence (PL) intensity of CsPbBr QDs by coupling them to a high quality () factor SiO microdisk cavity. Compared to conventional metal plasmonic cavities, the dielectric cavity structure suppresses the effects of quenching and energy transfer, which could introduce complex fluctuations and nonradiative decays.
