Background: Breast cancer stands as a globally significant contributor to both incidence rates and mortality among women. Approximately 10-15 % of women will face a diagnosis of an advanced yet potentially treatable stage of the disease. When individuals diagnosed with locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) exhibit resistance to preoperative chemotherapy and experience tumor progression, they unfortunately forfeit the opportunity for surgical intervention, thereby diminishing the prospects for a radical cure.

Although N6-methyladenosine (m6A) regulators and lncRNAs influence the carcinogenesis of thyroid cancer (THCA), the association between m6A-related lncRNAs and THCA remains unexplored. Therefore, we have developed and validated a prognostic model based on m6A-related lncRNAs and mRNAs in THCA. Data from the Cancer Genome Atlas were used to analyze the expression and prognostic characteristics of m6A-related lncRNAs and mRNAs in THCA.

The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a central role in tumor initiation, development, immune escape, and clinical treatment. Hypoxia, an important characteristic of the TME, mediates vascular endothelial factor (VEGF) signaling through direct or indirect mechanisms. Directly, hypoxia promotes the expression of VEGF through hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) induction.

The construction of libraries of stereoisomers of natural products serves as an important approach to investigating the correlation between the stereostructure and biological activity. However, the total synthesis and isomerzation of polycyclic scaffolds with multiple chrial centers are rare. Spirooliganin (), a new skeleton natural product isolated from the plant , was structurally characterized by comprehensive analysis of NMR spectroscopic data and ECD which revealed an unprecedented 5-6-6-6-7 polycyclic framework with six chiral centers.

Article Synopsis
  • This study explored how computed tomography (CT) radiomics can predict HER2 status in gastric cancer patients, aiming to improve understanding of tumor characteristics.
  • It involved the analysis of CT images from 132 patients who underwent surgery, using a training group of 90 and a test group of 42 to develop and validate predictive models.
  • The results indicated that the arterial phase (AP) radiomics model effectively distinguished HER2-negative cases with good accuracy, demonstrating the potential of using standard CT images in oncological assessments.

Prediction of the Depth of Tumor Invasion in Gastric Cancer: Potential Role of CT Radiomics.

Acad Radiol

August 2020

Department of General Surgery, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College. No. 1, Shuaifuyuan, Dongcheng District, Bejing 100730, P.R.China.

Rationale And Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the value of computed tomography (CT) radiomics for the differentiation between T2 and T3/4 stage lesions in gastric cancer.

Materials And Methods: A total of 244 consecutive patients with pathologically proven gastric cancer were retrospectively included and split into a training cohort (171 patients) and a test cohort (73 patients). Preoperative arterial phase and portal phase contrast enhanced CT images were retrieved for tumor segmentation and feature extraction by using a dedicated postprocessing software.
