Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) are ectopic immune cell clusters formed in nonlymphoid tissues affected by persistent inflammation, such as in cancer and prolonged infections. They have features of the structure and function of secondary lymphoid organs, featuring central CD20+ B cells, surrounded by CD3+ T cells, CD21+ follicular dendritic cells, and CD68+ macrophages, with a complex vascular system. TLS formation is governed by lymphotoxin-α1β2, TNF, and chemokines like CCL19, CCL21, and CXCL13, differing from secondary lymphoid organ development in developing later in life at sites of chronic inflammation.

Vascular endothelial growth factor D (VEGF-D), a ligand for vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR3), is a diagnostic biomarker of LAM and is associated with lymphatic circulation abnormalities. This study explored the interaction between LAM cells and lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) and the effects of rapamycin on this interaction, which may help to identify new targets for LAM treatment.

In this context, this article systematically reviews the epidemiological characteristics of vaginal atresia and explores its etiology from multiple perspectives, including developmental processes, genetic factors, and environmental factors, emphasizing the importance of genetic susceptibility and environmental interactions in the pathogenesis of the condition.

Serpina3k lactylation protects from cardiac ischemia reperfusion injury.

Lactate produced during ischemia-reperfusion injury is known to promote lactylation of proteins, which play controversial roles. By analyzing the lactylomes and proteomes of mouse myocardium during ischemia-reperfusion injury using mass spectrometry, we show that both Serpina3k protein expression and its lactylation at lysine 351 are increased upon reperfusion. Both Serpina3k and its human homolog, SERPINA3, are abundantly expressed in cardiac fibroblasts, but not  in cardiomyocytes.
