Study protocol: A national cross-sectional study on psychology and behavior investigation of Chinese residents in 2023.

Introduction: This study protocol specifies the primary research line and theoretical framework of the 2023 Survey of the Psychology and Behavior of the Chinese Population. It aims to establish a consistent database of Chinese residents' psychological and behavioral surveys through multi-center and large-sample cross-sectional surveys to provide robust data support for developing research in related fields. It will track the public's physical and psychological health more comprehensively and systematically.

Associations Between Atherosclerosis and Subsequent Cognitive Decline: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Background: This study aimed to examine whether baseline atherosclerosis was associated with subsequent short-term domain-specific cognitive decline.

Methods And Results: This research was based on the BRAVE (Beijing Research on Aging and Vessel) study, a population-based prospective cohort study of adults aged 40 to 80 years, free of dementia. At baseline (wave 1, 2019), cognitive assessments and atherosclerosis measures, including carotid intima-media thickness, carotid plaques, coronary artery calcification, and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity were conducted.

MASS cohort: Multicenter, longitudinal, and prospective study of the role of microbiome in severe pneumonia and host susceptibility.

The MASS cohort comprises 2000 ICU patients with severe pneumonia, covering community-acquired pneumonia, hospital-acquired pneumonia, and ventilator-associated pneumonia, sourced from 19 hospitals across 10 cities in three provinces. A wide array of samples including bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, sputum, feces, and whole blood are longitudinally collected throughout patients' ICU stays. The cohort study seeks to uncover the dynamics of lung and gut microbiomes and their associations with severe pneumonia and host susceptibility, integrating deep metagenomics and transcriptomics with detailed clinical data.

However, despite growing interest, the concept and specifics of PCC remain unclear. This consensus document addresses this gap by providing a literature review and a clear definition of PCC and outlines its main components as observed in real-world practice.

Optimization and validation of a virus-like particle pseudotyped virus neutralization assay for SARS-CoV-2.

Spike-protein-based pseudotyped viruses were used to evaluate vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they cannot be used to evaluate the envelope (E), membrane (M), and nucleocapsid (N) proteins. The first generation of virus-like particle (VLP) pseudotyped viruses contains these four structural proteins, but their titers for wild-type severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are relatively low, even lower for the omicron variant, rendering them unsuitable for neutralizing antibody detection.

Using a SARS-CoV-2 proteome microarray that contained viral antigenic peptides, we analyzed the characteristics of the humoral response in patients with coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) in a longitudinal study. Mutations in PHEX gene (located at Xp22.1) in XLH alter bone mineral metabolism, resulting in diverse skeletal, dental, and other extraskeletal abnormalities that become evident in early childhood and persist into adolescence and adult life.

Methods: We examined the literature on personality theory based on triadic interaction decision theory, and summarized and compared the findings with studies of the Big Five personality characteristics. A literature review method was used to explore the implications of personality theory for public decision-making in Chinese communities.

Phenolic compounds, antioxidant activity and sensory evaluation of sea buckthorn ( L.) leaf tea.

Sea buckthorn leaf tea, an emerging potential functional beverage product, has not yet had appropriate product standards and corresponding quality evaluation methods, and its poor taste directly affects the acceptance of the population, thus limiting its market consumption potential. In this study, two major packaging forms of sea buckthorn leaf tea available in the Chinese market were selected. The contents of total phenolics, total flavonoids, and 10 phenolic compounds, as well as the in vitro antioxidant capacity and sensory characteristics of sea buckthorn leaf tea were analyzed.
