The development of efficient and targeted methods for delivering DNA in vivo has long been a major focus of research. In this study, we introduce a gene Delivery approach Admitted by small Metabolites, named gDAM, for the efficient and targeted delivery of naked DNA into astrocytes in the adult brains of mice. gDAM utilizes a straightforward combination of DNA and small metabolites, including glycine, L-proline, L-serine, L-histidine, D-alanine, Gly-Gly, and Gly-Gly-Gly, to achieve astrocyte-specific delivery of naked DNA, resulting in transient and robust gene expression in these cells.

This study investigated the effects of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii polysaccharides (CRPs) on retarding the retrogradation of japonica rice starch (JS) and glutinous rice starch (GS). Structure characterization revealed that CRPs, with an average molecular weight of 505 kDa, mainly consisted of glucose, mannose, and galactose and featured a triple-helix structure. CRPs could reduce the storage modulus increment of JS during the cooling process by interacting with amylose, thereby inhibiting gel network formation.

Key Laboratory of Biology and Genetic Improvement of Horticultural Crops-South China/Guangdong Litchi Engineering Research Center, College of Horticulture, South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, China. Electronic address:
Seed development is one of the most important agricultural traits, determining both the crop yield and quality of fleshy fruits. A typically abortive litchi cultivar, Guiwei, exhibits heterogeneity in seed size across production areas, years, and individual trees. Previous studies have shown that 'Guiwei' seed development failure is associated with endosperm arrest and chilling conditions.

A comprehensive understanding of cadmium (Cd) migration in soils near contaminated hotspots is crucial for optimizing remediation efforts and ensuring crop health. This study investigates agricultural soils from four sites in mining and sewage-irrigation areas, assessing the impact of inorganic and organic fertilizer application on soil Cd remobilization. Results revealed that fertilization, particularly with mineral phosphorus, disrupts soil stability, substantially increases short-term Cd mobility in vulnerable regions.

As sensors in the gut, tuft cells integrate a complex array of luminal signals to regulate the differentiation fate of intestinal stem cells (ISCs), which trigger a loop of tuft cell-ISC-goblet cell after parasitic infection. As a plant-derived alkaloid, Matrine plays a prominent role for standardizing ISC functions in Eimeria necatrix (EN)-exposed chicks. In this study, we investigated the modulation effects of Matrine on the specific intestinal epithelial cell loop in EN-exposed chicks in vivo and intestinal organoids (IOs) ex vivo.

Praziquantel (PZQ) is the most effective treatment for schistosomiasis, commonly administered as a racemic mixture of the two enantiomers. Despite many reports on the pharmacokinetics of PZQ, the stereoselective pharmacokinetics of PZQ and its major metabolite 4-hydroxypraziquantel (4-OH-PZQ) remain poorly understood in goats. In this study, the chiral LC-MS/MS method was further optimized for separating and quantifying PZQ, trans-4-OH-PZQ, and cis-4-OH-PZQ and their enantiomers and then applied for the molecular pharmacokinetics of three analytes in black goat plasma.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to find the potential mechanism of two Lactobacillus ( L11 and LR) on ameliorating obesity, including lipid metabolism and gut microbiota. The two isolates have been studied to have good characterization in vitro, but in vivo studies in modulating lipid metabolism and gut microbiota were not studied.
Methods: In this study, mice with HFD supplemented with L11 or LR exhibited slower obesity progression, including reduced weight gain, abdominal fat accumulation, liver damage, inflammation, and adipose lesions.

Different origins and qualities can lead to differences in the taste and aroma of tea; however, the impacts of origin and quality on the taste and aroma characteristics of Wuyi rock tea and Huizhou rock tea have rarely been studied. In this study, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and sensory evaluation methods were used to compare the quality components of Wuyi rock tea and Huizhou rock tea. The sensory evaluation showed that they each have their own characteristics, but the overall acceptability of Wuyi rock tea is ahead of Huizhou rock tea ( < 0.

In 2022, human breast cancer (HBC) and canine mammary tumors (CMTs) remained the most prevalent malignant tumors worldwide, with high recurrence and lethality rates, posing a significant threat to human and dog health. The development of breast cancer involves multiple signaling pathways, highlighting the need for effective inhibitory drugs that target key proteins in these pathways. This article reviews the dysregulation of the EGFR, PI3K/AKT/mTOR, Hippo, pyroptosis, and PD-1/PD-L1 signaling pathways in HBC and CMT, as well as the corresponding drugs used to inhibit tumor growth, with the aim of providing theoretical support for the development of more efficient drugs.

, one of the world's most destructive invasive species, is known for causing significant ecological and economic harm. While extensive research has focused on its growth characteristics, secondary metabolites, and control measures, its chemical interactions with the environment-particularly the role of flavonoids in shaping soil microbial communities-remain underexplored. In this study, we identified and quantified ten flavonoids from root exudates using UPLC-MS, including Hispidulin, Isorhamnetin, and Mikanin.

The histone acetylation modification is a conservative post-translational epigenetic regulation in fungi. It includes acetylation and deacetylation at the lysine residues of histone, which are catalyzed by histone acetyltransferase (HAT) and deacetylase (HDAC), respectively. The histone acetylation modification plays crucial roles in fungal growth and development, environmental stress response, secondary metabolite (SM) biosynthesis, and pathogenicity.
