There are many kinds and dosage forms of Chinese patent medicines for external use on the market, which are widely used in clinical departments. The common adverse reactions of Chinese patent medicines for external use are skin reactions, and those for the rare severe diseases include palpitation, chest tightness, dyspnea, and anaphylactic shock. At present, World Health Organization(WHO), International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use(ICH),the United States, the European Union, and Asia-Pacific countries(such as Japan and South Korea) have not issued any pharmacovigilance guideline of Chinese patent medicines for external use.

In 2019, the newly revised Drug Administration Law of the People's Republic of China was issued and implemented, clearly proposing that China should establish a pharmacovigilance system. As a new traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) dosage form created in China, TCM injections have been widely used in clinic, and its pharmacovigilance has attracted much attention. In response to this situation, the project team convened a group of clinical, pharmaceutical and evidence-based medicine experts from all over the country to form an expert group, which formulated the Pharmacovigilance guidelines for clinical application of traditional Chinese medicine injections in strict accordance with the requirements of the group standards of the Chinese Association of Chinese Medicine.

September 2024

State Key Laboratory of Animal Biotech Breeding, Institute of Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing 100193, China. Electronic address:

The uncertainty resulting from missing genotypes in low-coverage whole-genome sequencing (LCWGS) data complicates genotype imputation. The aim of this study is to find out an optimal strategy for accurately imputing LCWGS data and assess its effectiveness for genomic prediction (GP) and genome-wide association study (GWAS) on economically important traits of Large White pigs. The LCWGS data of 1 423 Large White pigs were imputed using three different strategies: (1) using the high-coverage whole-genome sequencing (HCWGS) of 30 key progenitors as the reference panel (Ref_LG); (2) mixing HCWGS of key progenitors with LCWGS (Mix_HLG) and (3) self-imputation in LCWGS (Within_LG).

August 2024

State Key Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry for Life Science, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210023, China.

The dynamics of ion transport at the interface is the critical factor for determining the performance of an electrochemical energy storage device. While practical applications are realized in concentrated electrolytes and nanopores, there is a limited understanding of their ion dynamic features. Herein, we studied the interfacial ion dynamics in room-temperature ionic liquids by transient single-particle imaging with microsecond-scale resolution.

June 2024

Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Critical Care Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine, Southeast University, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between tumor cell-released autophagosomes (TRAPs) and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in breast cancer, focusing on how TRAPs contribute to lung metastasis.
  • Through various experimental methods, the research reveals that TRAPs stimulate NET formation in neutrophils via a specific signaling pathway, leading to immune suppression that aids cancer progression.
  • The findings suggest that targeting TRAP-induced NETs can enhance T-cell function and reduce breast cancer metastasis, indicating potential therapeutic strategies involving DNase I and anti-PD-L1 antibodies.

  • This study investigates how stir-frying affects the chemical composition and visual characteristics (chromaticity) of Mori Cortex, a traditional herbal material.
  • It establishes the chemical fingerprints of both raw and stir-fried Mori Cortex, showing that they maintain high similarity despite changes in content.
  • The findings suggest that moderate stir-frying leads to an optimal balance, as excessive heat reduces key chemical components, while also indicating that visual color changes can help assess the quality of the stir-frying process.
