Accurate characterisation of seismic source mechanisms in mining environments is crucial for effective hazard mitigation, but it is complicated by the presence of anisotropic geological conditions. Neglecting anisotropic effects during moment tensor (MT) inversion introduces significant distortions in the retrieved source characteristics. In this study, we investigated the impact of ignoring anisotropy during MT inversion on the reliability of hazard assessment.

The impact of rock bolts on the mechanical behavior of nonpersistent joints, including the intricate interactions between the joints, rock bridges, and rock bolts, has received limited investigation despite their effectiveness in reinforcing rock mass discontinuities. In order to tackle this issue, a variety of normal stresses were applied during direct shear tests conducted on artificial rock-like specimens with nonpersistent joints, both bolted and unbolted. Meanwhile, to measure the deformation in the rock bridge and joint plane region, a set of strain gauges were implemented.

In the course of pipe jacking construction, the carrying-soil effect frequently arises, influenced by factors such as excavation unloading, ongoing disturbance from successive pipe sections, and the progressive accumulation of soil adhesion. The pipe jacking slurry serves as a critical agent for friction reduction and strata support, essential for the secure advancement of the construction process. This study introduces the Microbial-Induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation (MICP) technology into the realm of pipe jacking slurry, aiming to enhance its friction-reduction capabilities and the stability of the soil enveloping the pipe.

Affected by weakening effect of water in the goaf, the bearing capacity of coal pillar reduced, and coal pillar rock burst is prone to occur, which is a serious threat to mine safety in production. In order to study the equivalent width and stability of coal pillar in water-rich coal seam, taking the section coal pillar of a working face as the research object, combined with laboratory test, theoretical analysis, simulation and engineering practice, the stress, elastic core area width, damage degree and energy accumulation of 36Â m water-immersed coal pillar and 26Â m, 28Â m, 30Â m, 32Â m, 36Â m unimmersed coal pillars are analyzed. The research results show that: (1) The reasonable width of coal pillar under flooded and unflooded conditions is 36.

Many conditions, such as pulmonary edema, bleeding, atelectasis or collapse, lung cancer, and shadow formation after radiotherapy or surgical changes, cause Lung Opacity. An unsupervised cross-domain Lung Opacity detection method is proposed to help surgeons quickly locate Lung Opacity without additional manual annotations. This study proposes a novel method based on adversarial learning to detect Lung Opacity on chest X-rays.

Underground coal excavation has caused a series of geological disasters and environmental problems, especially coal mining subsidence. Backfill-strip mining, which combines the advantages of strip mining and backfill mining, can reduce subsidence and improve the recovery rate of coal. Therefore, predicting the impact of backfill-strip mining on the surface environment and strata structure is essential for the better development of backfill-strip mining technology.

Biodegradable plastics (BPs) and lignite, both rich in organic matter, present significant challenges for efficient conversion into clean energy. This study examined the anaerobic co-digestion of BPs and lignite under controlled laboratory conditions. The results demonstrated that the co-digestion of polylactic acid (PLA) and lignite (at a 1:2 mass ratio, with 5Â g PLA and 10Â g lignite as the model system) rapidly acclimated to the anaerobic environment, enhancing cumulative biogas production by 57Â % compared to the mono-digestion of lignite alone.

Background: Neuroblastoma (NB), the most prevalent solid tumor in children, arises from sympathetic nervous system and accounts for 15% of pediatric cancer mortality. This malignancy exhibits substantial genetic and clinical heterogeneity, thus complicating treatment strategies. Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1), a key enzyme catalyzing polyADP-ribosylation (PARylation), plays critical roles in various cellular processes, and contributes to tumorigenesis and aggressiveness.

The extensive mining of bastnasite (CeFCO) has caused pollution of lanthanum (La), cerium (Ce), and fuorine (F) in the surrounding farmland soil, severely threatening the safety of the soil ecosystem. However, the interaction effects of various chemical fractions of La, Ce, and F on the composition of microbial communities are unclear. In our study, high-throughput sequencing was performed based on the pot experiments of four types of combined pollution soils, i.

Coal gangue (CG) is an industrial solid waste produced by coal mining and separation that is considered to have a significant effect on the soil or water environment when exposed to the air, exacerbating ecological pollution. The comprehensive utilization of CG has always been a difficult problem due to the complex mineralogical characteristics. Producing concrete aggregates with CG is an effective strategy for utilising CG resources synthetically.

Under confining pressure, rocks transition from brittle failure to plastic failure, and residual strength exists after complete failure. However, in the process of establishing rock damage constitutive models, the strength criteria used usually do not consider residual stress. In cold region engineering, the freeze-thaw effect caused by temperature changes should be considered in the constitutive model, and strength criteria should also be introduced.

With the growing emphasis on environmental protection, many coal mines in northern China were closed. However, the cessation of pumping operations in those closed mines has caused a rise in groundwater levels, giving rise to various safety and environmental concerns. Understanding the patterns of water level recovery is vital for effectively managing abandoned mine sites and ensuring the uninterrupted production of adjacent coal mines.

Coarse particles in filling slurry are the primary factor causing wear in filling elbow pipes, and the wear mechanism of these particles on the pipes is influenced by various factors. To study the erosion and wear mechanism of elbow pipes caused by coarse particles, the motion state of coarse particles under different curvature radii, coarse particle gradations, and pipe diameters was investigated using a simulation method based on the coupling of Fluent and EDEM software, grounded in theories of fluid mechanics, rheology, and solid-liquid two-phase flow. The study explored the impact patterns and locations of wear induced by coarse particles on filling elbow pipes.

The Layered Composite Roof Structure (LCRS) is a common bearing structure consisting of multiple layers of rock above a coal seam, and the energy stored in this structure plays an important role in the occurrence of rockburst. Few studies have been conducted on the theoretical modeling of energy storage in LCRS. This study theoretically developed a bending energy storage model for LCRS under three conditions, and the theoretical model was verified by simulation and experimental data.

Blasting excavation is widely used in mining, tunneling and construction industries, but it leads to produce ground vibration which can seriously damage the urban communities. The peak particle velocity (PPV) is one of main indicators for determining the extent of ground vibration. Owing to the complexity of blasting process, there is controversy over which parameters will be considered as the inputs for empirical equations and machine learning (ML) algorithms.

This paper first conducted a shale injection CO seepage experiment based on an improved single-vessel pressure pulse attenuation method. The experimental results reveal that the evolution pattern of shale permeability with respect to pore pressure can be divided into before and after phase change. The overall trend is that it first decreases and then increases, which is not a simple exponential form.

Mercury (Hg) is a global pollutant of widespread concern, and modern Hg levels have been much elevated compared to pre-industrial levels. The majority of environmental Hg assessment has occurred in the developed world within the temperate region, but recent years we have witnessed increases in research activities in polar, subtropical, and tropical biomes. East Asia is currently the biggest emitter of anthropogenic Hg, while intense research is ongoing in China, Korea, and Japan, relatively little has been done in the neighboring regions.
