Aim: This study aimed to assess the predictive value of the Bladder Deformity Index (BDI) in determining upper urinary tract (UUT) damage among patients with neurogenic bladder (NB).
Methods: Clinical data of 132 NB patients admitted to the China Rehabilitation Research Center between January 2018 and December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were categorized into UUT damage and normal UUT function groups based on the MRU and ultrasound grading systems for hydronephrosis, patients with the grade greater than or equal to I degree were considered to have UUTD.

Objective: To avoid deviation caused by the traditional scale method, the present study explored the accuracy, advantages, and disadvantages of different objective detection methods in evaluating lower extremity motor function in elderly individuals.
Methods: Studies on lower extremity motor function assessment in elderly individuals published in the PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and EMBASE databases in the past five years were searched. The methodological quality of the included trials was assessed using RevMan 5.

Background: Machine learning algorithms as a research tool, including traditional machine learning and deep learning, are increasingly applied to the field of urodynamics. However, no studies have evaluated how to select appropriate algorithm models for different urodynamic research tasks.
Methods: We undertook a narrative review evaluating how the published literature reports the applications of machine learning in urodynamics.

Objectives: Children with cochlear implants (CIs) face challenges in perceiving fundamental frequency (F0) information because CIs do not transmit F0 effectively. In Mandarin, F0 can contrast meanings at the word level, that is, via lexical tones with distinct F0 contours, and signal contrastive relations between words at the utterance-level, that is, via contrastive focus with expanded F0 range and longer duration. Mandarin-speaking children with CIs have been reported to face challenges in producing distinct F0 contours across tones, but early implantation facilitates tonal acquisition.

Introduction: Accurately and objectively quantifying the clinical features of Parkinson's disease (PD) is crucial for assisting in diagnosis and guiding the formulation of treatment plans. Therefore, based on the data on multi-site motor features, this study aimed to develop an interpretable machine learning (ML) model for classifying the "OFF" and "ON" status of patients with PD, as well as to explore the motor features that are most associated with changes in clinical symptoms.
Methods: We employed a support vector machine with a recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE) algorithm to select promising motion features.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore the mechanisms of central brain action in patients with neurogenic underactive bladder (UAB) treated with intravesical electrical stimulation (IVES).
Methods: We prospectively recruited patients with neurogenic UAB who chose to receive IVES treatment and healthy subjects (HS). At baseline, the following data were obtained: a 72-hour voiding diary; measurements of postvoid residual urine (PVR), voiding efficiency (VE) and first sensation of bladder filling (FS); American Urological Association Symptom Index Quality of Life (AUA-SI-QOL) scores, and functional near-infrared spectroscopy scans of the prefrontal cortex in the voiding stage.

Objectives: The vesicoprostatic muscle (VPM) is a longitudinal smooth muscle that originates from the trigone of the bladder or the opening of the ureter and is involved in urination as part of the detrusor apron. We explored the effect of VPM reconstruction on immediate and early recovery of urinary continence in patients undergoing robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALP).

This study aimed to evaluate differences in the clinical outcomes of different sacral neuromodulation systems (InterStim and BetterStim) used in the treatment of overactive bladder. Data from a previously established database of sacral neuromodulation in China (the InterStim system) and a 2020 clinical trial of the BetterStim system were screened. Patients with overactive bladder undergoing stage II implanted pulse generator implantation were selected for analysis and divided into InterStim and BetterStim system groups.

Purpose: To establish typical value ranges (TVRs) of the air-charged catheter (ACC) system, and analyze the typical signal patterns (TSPs) of cough under different bladder volumes for quality control of a urodynamic study using the ACC system.
Materials And Methods: The urodynamic traces of 1977 patients with neurogenic bladder (NB) were analyzed for intravesical pressure (p ), abdominal pressure (p ), and detrusor pressure (p ) in the cough test at our center from July 2017 to December 2021. The p cough signals were described and classified.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV), SARS-CoV-2, and human coronavirus (hCoV)-NL63 utilize ACE2 as the functional receptor for cell entry, which leads to zoonotic infection. Horses (Equus caballus) attracted our attention because the spike protein receptor-binding domains (RBDs) of SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses bind equine ACE2 (eACE2) with high affinity. Here we show that eACE2 binds the RBDs of these three coronaviruses and also SARS-CoV-2 variants but with lower affinities compared with human ACE2 (hACE2).

Shift work is associated with a decrease in melatonin level and perturbation of the circadian rhythm; however, it is unknown if these lead to functional brain changes. In this study, we investigated whether circadian rhythm disorders caused by shift work are related to changes in brain functional connectivity (FC) and regional homogeneity (ReHo) using whole-brain resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). This prospective case-control study included nine female night shift nurses and nine age-matched female day work nurses with normal sleep rhythms.
