January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Resources, School of Food Science and Technology, Collaborative Innovation Center of Food Safety and Quality Control of Jiangsu Province, Jiangnan University, Wuxi 214122, China.

Metal-organic framework-based hybrids (MOFzyme) have promising applications in colorimetric aptasensors due to their highly efficient and stable catalytic activity. However, their efficient application in biosensors remains a challenging issue due to the limited reaction site and amorphous structure. Herein, we encapsulated catalase inside MOF cavities to prepare an MOFzyme with many functional groups on its surface, and the functional groups were utilized for the subsequent integration of MOFzyme into the hyaluronic acid-DNA hydrogel.

Lancet Reg Health West Pac

January 2025

Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Peking University, Beijing 100191, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Non-smoking patients with restrictive spirometric patterns (RSP) or airflow obstruction (AFO) are at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), particularly acute myocardial infarction and heart failure.
  • During a 12-year follow-up study, risks were notably elevated in women, especially underweight individuals, with the severity of AFO and reduced lung function contributing to increased risks.
  • The study highlights the need for further research to understand the impact of body shape on CVD risk among non-smokers with these respiratory conditions.

Department of Toxicology, School of Public Health, Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University, 44 Wenhuaxi Road, Jinan, Shandong 250012, China. Electronic address:

In recent years, increasing evidence has supported that high-fat diet (HFD) can induce the chronic, low-grade neuroinflammation in the brain, which is closely associated with the impairment of cognitive function. As the key organelles responsible for energy metabolism in the cell, mitochondria are believed to involved in the pathogenesis of a variety of neurological disorders. This review summarizes the current progress in the field of the relationship between HFD exposure and neurodegenerative diseases, and outline the major routines of HFD induced neuroinflammation and its pathological significance in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases.

February 2025

State Key Laboratory of Meat Quality Control and Cultured Meat Development, Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center of Meat Production and Processing, Quality and Safety Control, College of Food Science and Technology, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing, Jiangsu, PR China. Electronic address:

This study investigated the difference in survival among Listeria monocytogenes (LM) 10403S (highly pathogenic strain) and M7 (low pathogenic strain) in sausage under a simulated digestive environment, and established intestinal organoids and macrophages co-culture model to further explore the virulence expression difference to intestinal cells between LM 10403S and M7 after in vitro gastrointestinal digestion. Results showed that, compared with LM M7, LM 10403S exhibited a high survival rate during in vitro digestion, which may be due to the increased expression of stress response-related genes. In addition, the expression of virulence genes in LM 10403S was significantly higher than in LM M7 under the gastrointestinal environment.
