Commonly high lipid in food waste confronts anaerobic digestion with improved energy production and also inhibition risk from the intermediate long chain fatty acids (LCFAs). Combined with operation challenges from anaerobic digestion of food waste itself, coping strategies are necessitated to ensure stable operation for oily food waste (OFW). A parallel thermophilic (TD) and mesophilic digestion (MD) of high-solid OFW was conducted and operated continuously for a long term.

Six new polycyclic polyprenylated acylphloroglucinols (PPAPs), hyperidiones A-F (1-6), were obtained from Hypericum perforatum L. Their structures were characterized via extensive spectroscopic analyses, the circular dichroism data of the in situ formed [Mo(OCOCH)] complexes, the nuclear magnetic resonance calculation with DP4 probability analysis, and the calculated electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra. Compounds 1-6 are bicyclic polyprenylated acylphloroglucinols with a major bicyclo[3.

Background: Approximately half of all patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) develop cachexia during the course of the disease. It is important to be able to predict which patients will develop cachexia at an early stage.
Purpose: To develop and validate a nomogram based on the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of HCC and body composition for potentially predicting cachexia in patients with HCC.

Here, a case of bilayer heterojunction Pd-containing polyoxotungstate (POW), connecting a TePd ring and an Anderson-like TeW cluster, has been synthesized. The Anderson-like cluster is the first example in POW. The coordination of Pd in the ring with the S atom on the sulfo group breaks the traditional coordination configuration of Pd and O in polyoxometalates (POMs), enriching the structural types of Pd-containing POMs.

Background: Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) are utilized for the management of hypertension and diabetes. Previous meta-analyses suggested that azilsartan medoxomil (AZL-M) improved blood pressure (BP) reduction, but there were no safety findings or suggestions for patients with hypertension or diabetes.
Methods: We performed an efficacy and safety meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating AZL-M therapy for reducing BP in patients with hypertension.

Among refractive errors, astigmatism is the most common optical aberration, where refraction changes in different meridians of the eye. It causes blurred vision at any distance and includes corneal, lenticular, and retinal astigmatism. Cataract surgery used to cause a progressive increase in the pre-exisiting corneal astigmatism because of creating a surgically induced astigmatism, for example, a large size surgery incision.

Objectives: To observe the differences in the effects of different dosages of grain-sized moxibustion on uterine artery blood flow in patients with cold and dampness primary dysmenorrhea (PD).
Methods: A total of 60 patients with PD were randomly divided into 3 groups with 20 cases in each group. Acupoints Sanyinjiao (SP6), Diji (SP8) and Xuehai (SP10) were selected in all the 3 groups, and different dosages of grain-sized moxibustion were used (3 moxa cones, 6 moxa cones, 9 moxa cones) respectively.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a lethal disease, notably resistant to existing therapies. Current research indicates that PDAC patients deficient in homologous recombination (HR) benefit from platinum-based treatments and poly-ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitors (PARPi). However, the effectiveness of PARPi in HR-deficient (HRD) PDAC is suboptimal, and significant challenges remain in fully understanding the distinct characteristics and implications of HRD-associated PDAC.

Diabetes mellitus is a long-term metabolic condition characterized by high blood glucose levels. This disorder is closely associated with a range of complications affecting small and large blood vessels, including conditions like retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy, as well as ischaemic heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and cerebrovascular disease. These complications cause organ and tissue damage in an estimated 33% to 50% of individuals with diabetes.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that chronic stress during pregnancy (CSDP) can induce depression and hippocampal damage in offspring. It has also been observed that high levels of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) can damage hippocampal neurons, and intraperitoneal injection of a corticotropin releasing hormone receptor 1 (CRHR1) antagonist decreases depression-like behavior and hippocampal neuronal damage in a mouse depression model. However, whether CSDP causes hippocampal damage and depression in offspring through the interaction of CRH and hippocampal CRHR1 remains unknown and warrants further investigation.

An unusual crystalline porous framework constructed from four types of cages, including all-inorganic Keggin-type polyoxometalate (POM) cages [HWO], organic hexamethylenetetramine (Hmt) cages, nanosized silver-Hmt coordination cages, and giant POM-silver-Hmt cages, was hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. The framework features a highly symmetrical structure with one-dimensional nanoscale channels and holds good thermal/solvent stability, which endow it with proton conduction properties and heterogeneous catalytic activity for pyrazole. This paper not only contributes to broadening the structural diversity of cage-based crystalline porous framework materials but also sheds new light on the design of new functional framework materials.

The multiple mortise-and-tenon joint parts are the core factors to provide the structural stability and diversity of Chinese Luban locks; however, constructing such structures is very challenging. Herein, single crystals of a covalent organic nanoribbon (named CityU-27) are prepared through the assembly of hexahydroxytriphenylene (HHTP), 4,4'-vinylenedipyridine (BYE), and phenylboronic acid (BA) together through dative boron←nitrogen (B←N) bonds. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that CityU-27 has a covalent organic nanoribbon structure, where each nanoribbon forms multiple and tight π-π interactions with four neighboring others to generate a Luban lock-like configuration.

Background: Cytokines act a vital role in autoimmune neuroinflammatory diseases (ANDs) with undetermined causal relationships. Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed to estimate the causal effects of circulating levels of cytokines on the risk of ANDs.
Methods: The causal relationship between 34 circulating cytokines and 4 kinds of ANDs, including multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica (NOM), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and myasthenia gravis (MG) were explored using four methods of MR analysis.

Axially chiral biaryls featuring a C-N axis are important functional molecules in diverse fields. The asymmetric Buchwald-Hartwig reaction represents a powerful strategy for these targets. Previous studies, however, have been predominantly restricted to intramolecular atroposelective coupling, likely due to the steric and entropic effects in the reductive elimination of Pd(II) species with sterically congested aryl and nitrogen groups.

Primary failure of eruption (PFE) is a rare disorder that is characterized by the inability of a molar tooth/teeth to erupt to the occlusal plane or to normally react to orthodontic force. This condition is related to hereditary factors and has been extensively researched over many years. However, the etiological mechanisms of pathogenesis are still not fully understood.

Studies have reported that the hemostatic effect of Sanguisorbae Radix(SR) is significantly enhanced after processing with charcoal. However, the standard components(tannins and gallic acid) specified in the Chinese Pharmacopeia decrease in charcoal-fried Sanguisorbae Radix(CSR), which is contrast to the enhancement of the hemostatic effect. Therefore, this study aimed to optimize the charcoal-frying process of SR based on its hemostatic efficacy and comprehensively analyze the components of SR and its processed products, thus exploring the material basis for the hemostatic effect.
