School of Public Health, Anhui Medical University, Hefei, Anhui 230032, China; Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory of Population Health & Aristogenics, Hefei, Anhui 230032, China. Electronic address:

Numerous studies have demonstrated that chronic stress during pregnancy (CSDP) can induce depression and hippocampal damage in offspring. It has also been observed that high levels of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) can damage hippocampal neurons, and intraperitoneal injection of a corticotropin releasing hormone receptor 1 (CRHR1) antagonist decreases depression-like behavior and hippocampal neuronal damage in a mouse depression model. However, whether CSDP causes hippocampal damage and depression in offspring through the interaction of CRH and hippocampal CRHR1 remains unknown and warrants further investigation.

An unusual crystalline porous framework constructed from four types of cages, including all-inorganic Keggin-type polyoxometalate (POM) cages [HWO], organic hexamethylenetetramine (Hmt) cages, nanosized silver-Hmt coordination cages, and giant POM-silver-Hmt cages, was hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. The framework features a highly symmetrical structure with one-dimensional nanoscale channels and holds good thermal/solvent stability, which endow it with proton conduction properties and heterogeneous catalytic activity for pyrazole. This paper not only contributes to broadening the structural diversity of cage-based crystalline porous framework materials but also sheds new light on the design of new functional framework materials.

A Covalent Organic Nanoribbon: Preparation, Single-Crystal Structure with Chinese Luban Lock Configuration, and Photocatalytic Behavior.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

October 2024

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, City University of Hong Kong, Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong SAR, P. R. China.

The multiple mortise-and-tenon joint parts are the core factors to provide the structural stability and diversity of Chinese Luban locks; however, constructing such structures is very challenging. Herein, single crystals of a covalent organic nanoribbon (named CityU-27) are prepared through the assembly of hexahydroxytriphenylene (HHTP), 4,4'-vinylenedipyridine (BYE), and phenylboronic acid (BA) together through dative boron←nitrogen (B←N) bonds. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that CityU-27 has a covalent organic nanoribbon structure, where each nanoribbon forms multiple and tight π-π interactions with four neighboring others to generate a Luban lock-like configuration.

Axially chiral biaryls featuring a C-N axis are important functional molecules in diverse fields. The asymmetric Buchwald-Hartwig reaction represents a powerful strategy for these targets. Previous studies, however, have been predominantly restricted to intramolecular atroposelective coupling, likely due to the steric and entropic effects in the reductive elimination of Pd(II) species with sterically congested aryl and nitrogen groups.
