Aqueous zinc-ion batteries are an appealing electrochemical energy storage solution due to their affordability and safety. Significant attention has been focused on vanadium oxide cathode materials for ZIBs, owing to their high specific capacity, unique layered or tunnel structures, and low cost. Compared to traditional methods for preparing and assembling electrode materials, direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering allows direct synthesis and uniform deposition on current collectors, offering advantages such as simplicity, mild reaction conditions, and strong film adhesion.

Food systems are essential for the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in China. Here, using an integrated assessment modelling framework that considers country-specific pathways and covers 18 indicators, we find that most social and environmental targets for the Chinese food system under current trends are not aligned with the United Nations Agenda 2030. We further quantify the impacts of multiple measures, revealing potential trade-offs in pursuing strategies aimed at public health, environmental sustainability and livelihood improvement in isolation.

Unlabelled: The SpoVAF/FigP complex, a newly identified dormant spore ion channel, has been shown to amplify the response of germinant receptors (GRs) to nutrient germinants. However, its contribution to high-pressure-induced germination remains unexplored. In this study, we discovered that the 5AF/FigP complex played an important role in the GR-dependent germination of spores under moderate high pressure (MHP) by facilitating the release of ions, such as potassium (K), a mechanism in parallel with its role in nutrient-induced germination.

Sediment cores were collected from the nearshore to bay mouth region in Daya Bay, aiming to describe the historical patterns of heavy metals deposition in the sediment. During the last 40 years, the heavy metals exhibited significant different deposition behaviors in the sediment, in which As, Zn, Cr were more enriched and contributed to metals pollution in this area. Moreover, heavy metals deposition exhibited completely opposite behaviors from the nearshore to bay mouth region.

This study investigated the effect of oleogel consumption on lipid metabolism, gut microbiota and low-grade inflammation in rats fed with a high-fat diet. Male SD rats received either a control diet or high-fat diets for six weeks. The high-fat diets included a regular high-fat diet and high-fat diets in which lard was replaced with pure sunflower oil, un-gelled sunflower oil containing a dispersed gelator, or gelled sunflower oil with the gelator (oleogel).

Since the widespread usage of plastic materials and inadequate handling of plastic debris, nanoplastics (NPs) and microplastics (MPs) have become global hazards. Recent studies prove that NPs/MPs can induce various toxicities in organisms, with these adverse effects closely related to gut microbiota changes. This review thoroughly summarized the interactions between NPs/MPs and gut microbiota in various hosts, speculated on the potential factors affecting these interactions, and outlined the impacts on hosts' health caused by NPs/MPs exposure and gut microbiota dysbiosis.

Background: Chickens and ducks are vital sources of animal protein for humans. Recent pangenome studies suggest that a single genome is insufficient to represent the genetic information of a species, highlighting the need for more comprehensive genomes. The bird genome has more than tens of microchromosomes, but comparative genomics, annotations, and the discovery of variations are hindered by inadequate telomere-to-telomere level assemblies.

Pigs are important agricultural animals whose growth rate and meat production performance are related to muscle development. Musculoskeletal embryonic nuclear protein 1 (MUSTN1) participates in various biological processes, including myogenesis and growth in animals, but the physiological functions and mechanisms of porcine MUSTN1 on muscle development are unclear; thus, we aimed to elucidate them. We found that MUSTN1 was highly expressed in the muscles of fast-growing pigs.
