Background: Bone is a common site for metastasis in lung adenocarcinoma, but the mechanism behind lung adenocarcinoma bone metastasis is still unclear. And currently, there is a lack of easily traceable and stable lung adenocarcinoma bone metastasis cell models, which limits the research on the mechanism of lung adenocarcinoma bone metastasis. The establishment of human lung adenocarcinoma cell line that are highly metastatic to bone, labeled with green fluorescent proteins (GFP) and fireflies luciferase (LUC), along with transcriptomic characterization, would be beneficial for research on lung adenocarcinoma bone metastasis and provide new experimental methods.

Among the most common genetic alterations in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are mutations in the spliceosome gene SF3B1. Such mutations induce specific RNA missplicing events, directly promote ring sideroblast (RS) formation, and generally associate with a more favorable prognosis. However, not all SF3B1 mutations are the same, and little is known about how distinct hotspots influence disease.

This article reviews the previous studies on the distinction between food cravings and appetite, and how they are regulated by hormones and reflected in brain activity. Based on existing research, food cravings are defined as individual preferences influenced by hormones and psychological factors, which differ from appetite, as they are not necessarily related to hunger or nutritional needs. The article also evaluates the neuroimaging findings about food cravings, and interventions to reduce food cravings, such as mindfulness training, alternative sweeteners, non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and imaginal retraining, and points out their advantages, disadvantages, and limitations.

Artificial bone graft with osteoconductivity, angiogenesis, and immunomodulation is promising clinical therapeutics for the reluctant healing process of bone defects. Among various osteogenic substitutes, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) bone cement is a quit competitive platform due to its easy deployment to the bone defects with irregular shape and biomimetic mechanical properties. However, the biologically inert essence of PMMA is reliant on the passive osseointegration and cannot provide sufficient biologic cues to induce fast bone repair.

Large segmental bone defects are commonly operated with autologous bone grafting, which has limited bone sources and poses additional surgical risks. In this study, we fabricated poly(lactide--glycolic acid) (PLGA)/β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) composite membranes by electrostatic spinning and further promoted osteogenesis by regulating the release of β-TCP in the hope of replacing autologous bone grafts in the clinical practice. The addition of β-TCP improved the mechanical strength of PLGA by 2.

Background: Megakaryocytes (MKs) are polyploid cells responsible for producing ∼10 platelets daily in humans. Unraveling the mechanisms regulating megakaryopoiesis holds the promise for the production of clinical-grade platelets from stem cells, overcoming significant current limitations in platelet transfusion medicine. Previous work identified that loss of the epigenetic regulator SET domain containing 2 (SETD2) was associated with an increased platelet count in mice.
