Hierarchical transition metal dichalcogenide (h-TMDC) nanostructures with abundant active edge sites and good electrical conductivity hold great promise for numerous applications. Here, we report a general method for the chemical synthesis of a series of large-area, free-standing h-TMDC films and their devices by using carbon nanotube (CNT) spiderwebs as both growth promoters and electrical/mechanical reinforcement networks. Our approach allows the seamless integration of h-TMDC nanostructures with abundant active edge sites and CNT networks with good electrical conductivity and mechanical flexibility.

Light absorption generates strongly bound excitons in organic solar cells (OSCs). To obtain efficient charge generation, a large driving force is required, which causes a large energy loss (E ) and severely hinders the improvement in the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of OSCs. Recently, the development of non-fullerene OSCs has seen great success, and the resulting OSCs can yield highly efficient charge generation with a negligible driving force, which raises a fundamental question about how the excitons split into free charges.

One-dimensional nanomaterials have widely applied in the fields of energy conversion and storage due to their exceptional performance because of the nano-size effect. Herein, we synthesized bamboo-like polymer nanotubes based on cationic polymerization using immiscible initiator nanodroplets that results in a hollow structure. The suspended microelectrode is fabricated to measure the axial thermal conductivity of a single polymer nanotube, which demonstrates that this hollow structure can reduce its effective thermal conductivity.

A calcified individual of Costa, 1851 collected from an unnamed seamount of the Caroline Plate, NW Pacific, is recognized as new to science herein. This increases the number of known species of the North Pacific to nine. differs from its similar congeners by having a rostrum hardly reaching to the end margin of first peduncular article of antenna 1, the presence of large pyriform eyes, the size-increasing mid-dorsal teeth starting from pereonite 6 to pleonite 2, the projection on coxa 5 not extending to epimeral plate 1, and by having a nearly quadrate telson notched medially.

Fungal communities play a crucial role in maintaining the health of managed and natural soil environments, which directly or indirectly affect the properties of plants and other soil inhabitants. As part of a Citizen Science Project initiated by the Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute and the Utrecht University Museum, which aimed to describe novel fungal species from Dutch garden soil, the diversity of Didymellaceae, which is one of the largest families in the Dothideomycetes was investigated. A preliminary analysis of the ITS and LSU sequences from the obtained isolates allowed the identification of 148 strains belonging to the family.

Graphene oxide (GO) and gold ions (Au) can be simultaneously reduced and self-assembled into a three-dimensional (3D) graphene/Au composite (GA/Au) porous structure at room temperature via one-step γ-ray irradiation. The microstructure of GA/Au composites were observed under different magnifications and the pores were observed to be uniform 3D porous structure. In addition, Au nanoparticles were homogeneously attached to graphene sheets and had a typical diameter of 6 nm.

It is closely related to but differs by its pseudospikelets having terminal rachilla segments with ciliate margin and 6 bracts; culm sheath with the base of the outer margin having a slight projection below its point of attachment at the node, as well as sheath blades usually less than half as long as the culm sheath proper; and leaf blades pale-puberulent and sparsely pilosulous on the abaxial surface. Objective: This paper aims to present how physiological signals can be processed based on wavelet decomposition to calculate multiple physiological parameters in real-time on an embedded platform.

Approach: An ECG and PPG are decomposed to the appropriate scale based on a quadratic spline wavelet base in order to obtain high and narrow pulse peaks at the location of the mutation points. Based on the decomposed waveforms, feature points are positioned to calculate physiological parameters in real-time, including heart rate, pulse rate, blood oxygen, and blood pressure.

In this study, a magnetothermodynamic (MTD) therapy is introduced as an efficient systemic cancer treatment, by combining the magnetothermal effect and the reactive oxygen species (ROS)-related immunologic effect, in order to overcome the obstacle of limited therapeutic efficacy in current magnetothermal therapy (MTT). This approach was achieved by the development of an elaborate ferrimagnetic vortex-domain iron oxide nanoring and graphene oxide (FVIOs-GO) hybrid nanoparticle as the efficient MTD agent. Such a FVIOs-GO nanoplatform was shown to have high thermal conversion efficiency, and it was further proved to generate a significantly amplified ROS level under an alternating magnetic field (AMF).
