Dynamics of wheat rhizosphere microbiome and its impact on grain production across growth stages.

Crop plant microbiomes are increasingly seen as important in plant nutrition and health, and a key to maintaining food productivity. Currently, little is known of the temporal changes that occur in the wheat rhizosphere microbiome as the plant develops, and how this varies among different sites. We used a pot-based mesocosm experiment with the same modern wheat cultivar grown in eight soils from across the North China Plain, a major wheat producing area.

Prussian blue analogs (PBAs), as a classical kind of microporous materials, have attracted substantial interests considering their well-defined framework structures, unique physicochemical properties and low cost. However, PBAs typically adopt cubic structure that features small pore size and low specific surface area, which greatly limits their practical applications in various fields ranging from gas adsorption/separation to energy conversion/storage and biomedical treatments. Here we report the facile and general synthesis of unconventional hexagonal open PBA structures.

First record of (Hemiptera, Scytinopteroidea, Scytinopteridae) from the Middle Triassic Tongchuan Entomofauna of China.

A new scytinopterid species, , is established based on a tegmen collected from the Middle Triassic Tongchuan Formation in Shaanxi Province, NW China. The new species can be easily separated from its congeners by the narrow tegminal apex, less curved terminal branches of stems RP, M and CuA and crossvein - connected to long vein M. This discovery represents the first record of from the Tongchuan Formation in China and suggests that the genus spread much more widely from Gondwana to northern Pangea in the Middle Triassic.

Discovery of sp. nov. (Ophioglossaceae) from Southwest China demonstrates a unique intercontinental disjunct pattern in plants between the Himalaya and the Americas.

A new fern species, (Ophioglossaceae), from Sichuan, Xizang, and Yunnan, Southwest China (eastern Himalaya), is described and illustrated. This species is similar to in the Americas in having a cylindrical rhizome and complex-reticulate venation. In addition, both species grow in open habitat on basic soil.

Releasing a sugar brake generates sweeter tomato without yield penalty.

In tomato, sugar content is highly correlated with consumer preferences, with most consumers preferring sweeter fruit. However, the sugar content of commercial varieties is generally low, as it is inversely correlated with fruit size, and growers prioritize yield over flavour quality. Here we identified two genes, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) calcium-dependent protein kinase 27 (SlCDPK27; also known as SlCPK27) and its paralogue SlCDPK26, that control fruit sugar content.

The results of molecular phylogenetic analyses based on nuclear ribosome internal transcribed spacer (nrITS) and four chloroplast DNA markers (K, A-H, M-D and L-F) from 50 species indicate that is closely related to and , also endemic to the Hengduan Mountains.

In present study, a previously unidentified but frequently encountered species of deep-sea protobranch, , is described new to science from the Haima Cold Seep on the northwestern slope of the South China Sea. A morphological analysis confirmed that this species belongs to a previously undescribed species of the genus A.E.

Based on both morphological and molecular evidence, it is confirmed that is conspecific with . Hence, is treated as a synonym of here. The conservation status of is also re-evaluated according to the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria in this study.

A new chemosymbiotic bivalve species of the genus Dall, 1908 (Bivalvia, Solemyida, Solemyidae) from the Haima cold seep of the South China Sea.

Solemyidae is an ancient group of protobranch bivalves that typically inhabit unusual environments, such as deep-sea chemosynthetic environments, and are symbiotic with chemoautotrophic and gill-hosted bacteria. In May 2018, a living solemyid bivalve was collected using a remotely operated vehicle at a depth of 1,390 m from the Haima cold seep in the northwestern slope of the South China Sea. Through a comprehensive taxonomic approach combining morphological observations and molecular phylogeny reconstruction of concatenated mitochondrial COI,16S rRNA and 18S rRNA gene sequences, a new species, is identified and described.
