Wei Sheng Yan Jiu

November 2024

West China School of Public Health, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, China.

Objective: To explore the possible mechanism of absorption of iron oxide nanoparticles into the human body through the gastrointestinal tract.

Methods: This article used Caco-2 monolayer cells as a cell model, prepared characterized iron oxide nanoparticles(Fe_2O_3 NPs) as suspensions, and intervened in Caco-2 cells. CCK-8 method, transwell method, and atomic spectrophotometer method were used to explore the effect of Fe_2O_3 NPs on the activity of Caco-2 cells and the absorption and transport of them through the Caco-2 monolayer cell model.

One-pot MCDA-CRISPR-Cas-based detection platform for point-of-care testing of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.

Front Microbiol

December 2024

West China School of Public Health and West China Fourth Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Compared to quantitative real-time PCR (q-PCR), CRISPR-Cas-mediated technology is more suitable for point-of-care testing (POCT) and has potential for wider application in the future. Generally, the operational procedure of CRISPR-Cas-mediated diagnostic method consists of two independent steps, the reaction of signal amplification and the CRISPR-Cas-mediated signal detection. Complex multi-step procedures can easily lead to cross-contamination.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are among the most common and clinically significant comorbidities of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and high-intensity inspiratory muscle training (H-IMT) has emerged as a promising intervention for improving arterial stiffness in individuals with COPD. Yet, there is limited evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding the impact of H-IMT alone or in combination with exercise on reducing arterial stiffness in COPD.

Clinical, aetiological, and epidemiological studies of outpatient cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease in Chengdu, China, from 2019 to 2022: a retrospective study.

BMC Public Health

December 2024

Department of Epidemiology and Health Statistics, West China School of Public Health and West China Fourth Hospital, Sichuan University, No.16, Section 3, Renmin South Road, Wuhou District, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Background: The introduction of the Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71) vaccine in China in 2016 has led to a considerable decline in severe hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) cases, with mild outpatient instances now representing the majority of HFMD cases in the country. Nevertheless, epidemiological investigations concerning mild outpatient cases remain scarce, resulting in inadequate descriptions of their clinical, etiological, and epidemiological characteristics. Our study aimed to analyze the clinical, etiological, and epidemiological characteristics of HFMD outpatients in Chengdu from 2019 to 2022 while identifying potential risk factors associated with the progression of outpatients requiring hospitalization.

Hydroalkylation of unactivated olefins with C(sp)─H compounds enabled by NiH-catalyzed radical relay.

Sci Adv

December 2024

West China School of Public Health and West China Fourth Hospital, West China-PUMC C.C. Chen Institute of Health, and State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, China.

The hydroalkylation reaction of olefins with alkanes is a highly desirable synthetic transformation toward the construction of C(sp)─C(sp) bonds. However, such transformation has proven to be challenging for unactivated olefins, particularly when the substrates lack directing groups or acidic C(sp)─H bonds. Here, we address this challenge by merging NiH-catalyzed radical relay strategy with a HAT (hydrogen atom transfer) process.

Department of Urology and Pelvic surgery, West China School of Public Health and West China Fourth Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Tubulocystic Renal Cell Carcinoma (TC-RCC) and Polycythemia Vera (PV) are both infrequent medical conditions. TC-RCC was recognized as a distinct subtype of kidney cancer by the World Health Organization in 2016, while PV is a rare myeloproliferative neoplasm distinguished by the excessive production of red blood cells. The coexistence of these two conditions is exceptionally uncommon and lacks comprehensive documentation.

Arsenic is a widespread environmental carcinogen, and its carcinogenic mechanism has been the focus of toxicology. N-methyladenosine (mA) binding protein YTH domain family protein 2 (YTHDF2) performs various biological functions by degrading mA-modified mRNAs. However, the mA-modified target mRNA of YTHDF2 in regulating arsenic carcinogenesis remains largely unknown.
