Background: Single-lung ventilation (SLV) is a widely used procedure in thoracic surgery; however, it can lead to hypoxemia, which is attributed to intrapulmonary shunt and hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction. Stellate ganglion blockade (SGB) has shown protective effects during SLV in various pulmonary conditions. The objective of the study was to assess the clinical utility of ultrasound-guided SGB in patients undergoing thoracoscopic pulmonary lobectomy through a prospective clinical trial.

Background: The aim of the present study was to establish a predictive model to predict the peritoneal cancer index (PCI) preoperatively in patients with pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP).
Methods: A total of 372 PMP patients were consecutively included from a prospective follow-up database between 1 June 2013 and 1 June 2023. Nine potential variables, namely, gender, age, Barthel Index (BAI), hemoglobin (Hb), albumin (Alb), D-dimer, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA 125), and CA 19-9, were estimated using multiple linear regression (MLR) analysis with a stepwise selection procedure.

Existing image fusion methods primarily focus on complex network structure designs while neglecting the limitations of simple fusion strategies in complex scenarios. To address this issue, this study proposes a new method for infrared and visible image fusion based on a multimodal large language model. The method proposed in this paper fully considers the high demand for semantic information in enhancing image quality as well as the fusion strategies in complex scenes.

Objective: This study explores the associations between four macro-level factors-Economic Development (ED), Economic Inequality (EI), Governmental Willingness and capacities to invest in Public Health (GWPH) and Public Health-Related Infrastructures (PHRI)-and three mental health indicators: depressive symptoms, cognitive function and life satisfaction, among middle-aged and older adults in China.
Materials And Methods: We obtained individual-level data from the Harmonised China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey (H-CHARLS) 2018 and acquired our provincial-level data from the Chinese Statistical Yearbook. Two-level linear mixed models are used to examine the associations.

The recovery process following ischemic stroke is a complex undertaking involving intricate cellular and molecular interactions. Cellular dysfunction or aberrant pathways can lead to complications such as brain edema, hemorrhagic transformation, and glial scar hyperplasia, hindering angiogenesis and nerve regeneration. These abnormalities may contribute to long-term disability post-stroke, imposing significant burdens on both families and society.

Background: Developing carrier-free nanomedicines via self-assembly of two antitumor drug molecules is a potential strategy for enhancing the combination treatment of tumors. Similarly, conventional chemotherapy combined with photodynamic therapy may synergistically improve the antitumor effect while minimizing the adverse reactions associated with antitumor treatment. Hyaluronic acid (HA) can bind to overexpressed HA receptors on the tumor cell surface, increasing cell internalization and resulting in good tumor-targeting properties.

Background: Persistently high rates of inhaler errors and poor adherence among Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients contribute to ineffective symptomatic control, high care burdens, and increased healthcare resource utilization.
Objective: This study aimed to report (i) nurses-identified common problems and errors of inhaler use in COPD patients, (ii) nurses' attitudes, practices, training needs and required support in inhaler education.
Methods: An online questionnaire survey was conducted with nurses working in Hong Kong from May to June 2023 using an exponential, non-discriminative snowball sampling strategy.

The escalating global threat of climate change is becoming more evident. The climate crisis intersects with another major challenge: lung cancer. With Asia already bearing half the global cancer burden, the impact of climate-related events on health and on lung cancer care specifically are profound.

Background: Pulmonary embolism causes a substantial burden of morbidity and mortality. Although there are several well-established risk factors for pulmonary embolism, a substantial proportion of cases cannot be attributed to provoked or known risk factors. Accumulating evidence has suggested an association of clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) with the risk of arterial thromboembolism.

Abortusequi ( Abortusequi) is the primary cause of abortions in equine animals, and can cause serious foodborne illness. Thus, effective biocontrol strategies are needed to decontaminate and control the emergence of foodborne diseases. In recent years, phages have been used as a new strategy for modulating foodborne pathogens and food safety.

Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by muscle stiffness, bradykinesia, and balance disorders, significantly impairing the quality of life for affected patients. While motion pose estimation and gait analysis can aid in early diagnosis and timely intervention, clinical practice currently lacks objective and accurate tools for gait analysis.
Methods: This study proposes a multi-level 3D pose estimation framework for PD patients, integrating monocular video with Transformer and Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) techniques.

This study aims to explore various key factors influencing the academic performance of college students, including metacognitive awareness, learning motivation, participation in learning, environmental factors, time management, and mental health. By employing the chi-square test to identify features closely related to academic performance, this paper discussed the main influencing factors and utilized machine learning models (such as LOG, SVC, RFC, XGBoost) for prediction. Experimental results indicate that the XGBoost model performs the best in terms of recall and accuracy, providing a robust prediction for academic performance.

This study explores the influence of religious beliefs on environmental attitudes and behaviors in China. Using data from the 2021 Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS), two structural equation models were constructed to examine the mediating roles of natural empathy and anthropocentrism in the relationship between environmental awareness and willingness to make sacrifices for environmental protection. The results indicated that while environmental awareness positively influenced willingness to sacrifice, natural empathy did not significantly mediate this relationship.
