Randall's plaque (RP) is recognized as a precursor lesion for kidney stones, with its formation and progression potentially linked to oxidative stress. Previous studies have provided limited insights into the underlying mechanisms of RP, failing to fully elucidate its molecular pathways. To investigate the relationship between oxidative stress and RP, we employed bioinformatics approaches to identify key genes, predict associated pathways and drug molecules, analyze variations in immune cell populations, and construct diagnostic models.

Over the past decades, bacterial infections resulting from the misuse of antibiotics have garnered significant attention. Among the alternative antibacterial strategies, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as a promising non-antibiotic approach. However, persistent bacterial biofilms, particularly those composed of gram-negative bacteria with their protective outer membranes, have exhibited remarkable resilience to PDT.

Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is a widely used surgery for portal hypertensive patients, whose potential postoperative complications are closely related to the hemodynamic condition of the portal venous system. The selection of shunt position in the surgery may affect the postoperative hemodynamics; however, it is difficult for clinical studies to investigate the influence. Therefore, this study aims to employ the computational model simulating TIPS to compare the hemodynamic differences resulting from different shunt positions, and also to investigate the influences of different geometrical model simplification strategies used in the TIPS simulation.

Underground coal excavation has caused a series of geological disasters and environmental problems, especially coal mining subsidence. Backfill-strip mining, which combines the advantages of strip mining and backfill mining, can reduce subsidence and improve the recovery rate of coal. Therefore, predicting the impact of backfill-strip mining on the surface environment and strata structure is essential for the better development of backfill-strip mining technology.

Intrapartum fever is a common complication in parturients undergoing epidural analgesia (EA), significantly increasing the incidence of maternal and infant complications. This study aims to develop and validate a prediction model for intrapartum fever related to chorioamnionitis (IFTC) in parturients undergoing epidural analgesia. A total of 596 parturients with fever (axillary temperature ≥ 38℃) who received EA from January 2020 to December 2023 were included and randomly assigned to the training set (N = 417) and the validation set (N = 179) according to the ratio of 7:3.

Traditional sprayers are limited to applying spray mixture solely to the upper surfaces of crops. To overcome this limitation, a variable angle spraying machine (VASM) was designed using a linkage system. This machine enables the adjustment of both the spray position and angle through a single input signal, facilitating multi-directional spraying from the top to the bottom of crops.

In the context of an aging population, older adults increasingly face the challenge of managing multiple chronic conditions simultaneously. This study utilized analytical methods such as propensity score matching (PSM) and multivariate logistic regression, to explore the relationship between physical activity and the number of chronic diseases as well as the risk of developing co-morbidities among middle-aged and elderly Chinese individuals using data from the 2020 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey. The PSM results showed that physical activity decreased the number of chronic diseases in middle-aged and elderly people by 0.

Chronic ischemia in moyamoya disease (MMD) impaired white matter microstructure and neural functional network. However, the coupling between cerebral blood flow (CBF) and functional connectivity and the association between structural and functional network are largely unknown. 38 MMD patients and 20 sex/age-matched healthy controls (HC) were included for T1-weighted imaging, arterial spin labeling imaging, resting-state functional MRI and diffusion tensor imaging.

Underwater image enhancement (UIE) is challenging since image degradation in aquatic environments is complicated and changing over time. Existing mainstream methods rely on either physical-model or data-driven, suffering from performance bottlenecks due to changes in imaging conditions or training instability. In this article, we attempt to adapt the diffusion model to the UIE task and propose a Content-Preserving Diffusion Model (CPDM) to address the above challenges.

PrPc is expressed in various tumors and is associated with cancer progression, but previous studies have shown conflicting results regarding its relationship with patient prognosis-potentially due to differences in the antibodies used. This study aimed to clarify the relationship between PrPc expression and primary esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using a novel anti-PrPc antibody, 4AA-m, noted for its high specificity and sensitivity. We used flow cytometry to detect PrPc expression in ESCC and HCC cell lines.

A total of 905 participants underwent chest LDCT and paired QCT BMD examination were retrospectively included from August 2018 and June 2019. The patients with low BMD (n = 388) and the normal (n = 517) were randomly divided into a training set (n = 622) and a validation set (n = 283).

This study aimed to discuss the effects of extreme temperatures and ozone on the incidence of varicella in Shijiazhuang City from 2014 to 2022, which provides new ideas for preventing public health events. METHODS We collected varicella cases in Shijiazhuang, China, from 2014 to 2022 and evaluated the relationship between temperature extremes and ozone on varicella incidence by building distributional lag nonlinear models. The analysis was stratified by age and sex, with 19,188 varicella cases reported.

The senescence of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is closely related to aging and degenerative diseases. Curcumin exhibits antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and has been extensively used in anti-cancer and anti-aging applications. Studies have shown that curcumin can promote osteogenic differentiation, autophagy and proliferation of MSCs.

Toluene sulfonic acid remimazolam is a novel benzodiazepine that differs from traditional benzodiazepines (BZDs) due to its rapid onset, swift metabolism, and lack of hepatic or renal metabolism, as well as its reduced effects on cardiac and cerebral functions. Despite its potential advantages, clinical experience with this agent remains limited. This study investigated the effect of remizolam on postoperative delirium in elderly patients undergoing painless bronchoscopy.

Lung cancer ranks as the most prevalent malignant neoplasm worldwide, contributing significantly to cancer-related mortality. Stemness is a well-recognized factor underlying radiotherapy resistance, recurrence and metastasis in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Our prior investigations have established the role of IQ motif containing GTPase-activating protein 3 (IQGAP3) in mediating radiotherapy resistance in lung cancer, but its impact on lung cancer stemness remains unexplored.

Addressing the need to harmonize environment conservation and sustainable economic development within the Yellow River Basin (YRB) requires a profound comprehension of the spatiotemporal dynamics of urban ecosystem resilience. This study developed an index system utilizing the resistance-adaptability-recovery framework to measure these dynamics. By applying the advanced multi-attribute boundary area comparison method and a spatial autocorrelation model, we investigated the spatiotemporal variations and spatial correlation patterns of urban ecological resilience across the YRB.

Amblyopia affects more than visual acuity. To compare the performances of visual selective attention and numerical processing in children with anisometropic amblyopia and children with normal vision, and investigate whether performance would be improved after visual acuity recovery, we performed 3 visual attention tasks (identifying number location task, numerical comparison task, and specific number comparison task) in children with anisometropic amblyopia, children who had recovered from anisometropic amblyopia, and children with normal vision in 6-8 and 9-11 years groups. The numerical processing ability, visual selective attention, and numerical distance effect were assessed by their reaction time of different tasks.
