Nonylphenol (NP) is a common environmental contaminant and endocrine disruptor. Our previous research demonstrated that NP could promote the proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of colorectal cancer (CRC) cells; however, the specific mechanism remains unclear. miRNA sequencing revealed that NP upregulated the expression levels of microRNA(miR)-151a-3p in CRC.

Melanoma is an aggressive type of skin cancer that arises from melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing skin pigment. In contrast to non-melanoma skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma is more invasive. Melanoma was distinguished by its rapid progression, high metastatic potential, and significant resistance to conventional therapies.

Building anion-derived solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) with enriched LiF is considered the most promising strategy to address inferior safety features and poor cyclability of lithium-metal batteries (LMBs). Herein, we discover that, instead of direct electron transfer from surface polar groups to bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (TFSI) for inducing a LiF-rich SEI, the dipole-induced fluorinated-anion decomposition reaction begins with the adsorption of Li ions and is highly dependent on their mobility on the polar surface. To demonstrate this, a single-layer graphdiyne on MXene (sGDY@MXene) heterostructure has been successfully fabricated and integrated into polypropylene separators.

Adenosine, a critical molecule regulating cellular function both inside and outside cells, is controlled by two human adenosine deaminases: ADA1 and ADA2. While ADA1 primarily resides in the cytoplasm, ADA2 can be transported to lysosomes within cells or secreted outside the cell. Patients with ADA2 deficiency (DADA2) often suffer from systemic vasculitis due to elevated levels of TNF-α in their blood.

A novel fluorescence sensing nanoplatform (CDs/AuNCs@ZIF-8) encapsulating carbon dots (CDs) and gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) within a zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) was developed for ratiometric detection of formaldehyde (FA) in the medium of hydroxylamine hydrochloride (NHOH·HCl). The nanoplatform exhibited pink fluorescence due to the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect of AuNCs and the internal filtration effect (IFE) between AuNCs and CDs. Upon reaction between NHOH·HCl and FA, a Schiff base formed via aldehyde-diamine condensation, releasing hydrochloric acid.

Mechanistic Insights into the Effects of Aged Polystyrene Nanoplastics on the Toxicity of Cadmium to Triticum Aestivum.

Bull Environ Contam Toxicol

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Environmental Remediation and Ecological Health, Ministry of Industry and Information·Technology, Jiangsu Environmental Engineering Technology Co., Ltd, Nanjing, Jiangsu, 210019, China.

The widespread concern over nanoplastics (NPs) has prompted extensive research into their environmental impact. Concurrently, the study examined the combined toxicity of PS NPs and cadmium (Cd) on wheat. As indicated by the results of in situ Micro-ATR/FTIR, the aging process of PS NPs (50 nm) led to an increase in carbonyl and hydroxyl groups on their surface, enhancing hydrophilicity and consequently, the adsorption capacity for Cd.

Effects of Different Ionic Liquids on Microbial Growth and Microbial Communities' Structure of Soil.

Bull Environ Contam Toxicol

January 2025

College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Donghua University, Shanghai, 201620, China.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are widely used "green solvent" as they have a low vapor pressure and can replace volatile solvents in industry. However, ILs are difficult to biodegrade and are potentially harmful to the environment. This study, herein, investigated the toxicity of three imidazole ILs ([CMIM]Cl, [CMIM]Br, and [CDMIM]Br) towards soil microorganisms.

January 2025

Department of Neurosurgery, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, School of Clinical Medicine, Tsinghua University, Litang Road 168, Beijing, 102218, China.

Objective: Since the emergence of the Pipeline Embolization Device (PED), its off-label use has significantly improved the treatment effectiveness of complex intracranial aneurysms, including the treatment of recurrent aneurysms. Although PED is effective in this situation, there is still a lack of evidence-based medicine for its role in recurrent aneurysms after stent-assisted coiling. The aim of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of PED treatment for recurrent aneurysms after stent-assisted coiling.

Source-free domain adaptation (SFDA) has become crucial in medical image analysis, enabling the adaptation of source models across diverse datasets without labeled target domain images. Self-training, a popular SFDA approach, iteratively refines self-generated pseudo-labels using unlabeled target domain data to adapt a pre-trained model from the source domain. However, it often faces model instability due to incorrect pseudo-label accumulation and foreground-background class imbalance.
