Renal fibrosis (RF) is a crucial pathological factor in the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) to end-stage renal failure, and accurate and noninvasive assays to monitor the progression of renal fibrosis are needed. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are noncoding RNAs that can be used as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for human diseases. In this study, we analysed the expression of hsa_circ_0008925 in human urinary renal tubular cells and investigated its role in renal fibrosis.

Synergistic effect of proanthocyanidins and cefquinoxime sulfate on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

Pak J Pharm Sci

January 2025

Innovation Center Laboratory for Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), College of Veterinary Medicine, China Agricultural University, Beijing, China.

To address the severe problem of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) resistance, this study identified a single component from traditional Chinese medicine that, when used in combination with existing antibiotics, enhances the therapeutic efficacy of the antimicrobial drugs. Using the micro broth dilution method and the checkerboard dilution method, susceptibility tests were conducted on ten commonly used β-lactam antibiotics against eleven strains of MRSA. It was found that cefquinome sulfate exhibits synergistic activity with PROs.

In order to make the drugs can cure the tumor precisely, this paper establishes the tumor immune dynamic model through the differential equation of tumor growth and analyzes the persistence of the tumor immune model. Research on dual anticancer drugs and commonly used coupling methods is carried out to complete the synthesis of polyethylene glycol dual anticancer drug couplers and the antitumor activity is analyzed to derive the degree of inhibition of polyethylene glycol dual anticancer drugs on tumor activity. From the four judging criteria, it was concluded that the polyethylene glycol bis-anti-cancer drug has a better curative effect on tumor cells.

In recent years, the incidence of gastric cancer (GC) has been on the rise, surgical procedures usually require the removal of part of gastric tissue connected with the tumor lesion, which leads to poor postoperative health and adverse prognosis in patients. Probiotics, as an active microorganism, play an important role in improving gastrointestinal function and enhancing immunity. In this study, we randomized 135 GC patients into a control group, a probiotic group and a combination group.

The innate immune response is the first line of defense for the host against viral infections. Targeted degradation of pathogenic microorganisms through autophagy, in conjunction with pattern recognition receptors synergistically inducing the production of interferon (IFN), constitutes an important pathway for the body to resist viral infections. Rubicon, a Run domain Beclin 1-interacting and cysteine-rich domain protein, has an inhibitory effect on autophagy and IFN production.

It has been popular and challenging to undertake researches on the delay of acquired resistance of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKI). As key cells for tumor initiation, cancer stem cells (CSC) play an important role in the process of resistance to EGFR-TKI. Although preliminary studies found that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) could inhibit CSC properties and delay EGFR-TKI resistance, the specific molecular mechanism remains unclear.

[Expression of BTLA/HVEM axis in hematological and prospects for immune target therapy].

Xi Bao Yu Fen Zi Mian Yi Xue Za Zhi

January 2025

Department of Hematology, Lanzhou University Second Hospital, Lanzhou 730000, China. *Corresponding authors, E-mail:

Article Synopsis
  • BTLA is an inhibitory immune checkpoint that interacts with HVEM to regulate immune balance and maintain immune tolerance on the same cell, while also affecting different immune cells to suppress immune responses.
  • Dysregulation of the BTLA/HVEM interaction can lead to impaired immune cell function, allowing tumor cells to evade immune detection and progress.
  • Research indicates that BTLA and HVEM are often abnormally expressed in various tumors, making them potential targets for future immunotherapy approaches in treating hematologic malignancies.
