The relationship among protein structure, function, and dynamics is fundamental to biological activity, particularly in more complex biomolecular systems. Solid-state and solution-state NMR techniques offer powerful means to probe these dynamics across various time scales. However, standard assumptions about molecular motion are often challenged in phase-separated systems like phosphorylated heterochromatin protein 1 alpha (pHP1α), which exhibit both solid- and solution-like characteristics.

Synthesis of 2D quasi-hexagonal phase C (qHP C) has opened avenues for its application as a novel catalytic support. This study investigates the structure, stability, and anisotropic properties of Cu clusters anchored on the qHP C surface through density functional theory calculations. Our findings reveal that the Cu cluster preferentially occupies the intrinsic holes of the qHP C via one of its tetrahedral faces, resulting in enhanced stability and conductivity, with a significantly reduced band gap of 0.

Concentrated solar-driven CO2 reduction is a breakthrough approach to combat climate crisis. Harnessing the in-situ coupling of high photon flux density and high thermal energy flow initiates multiple energy conversion pathways, such as photothermal, photoelectric, and thermoelectric processes, thereby enhancing the efficient activation of CO2. This review systematically presents the fundamental principles of concentrated solar systems, the design and classification of solar-concentrating devices, and industrial application case studies.

The design of well-engineered bifunctional electrocatalysts is crucial for achieving durable and efficient performance in overall water splitting. In this study, Ru-doped FeMn-MOF-74 itself has Ru sites and generates FeMnOOH under catalytic conditions, forming dual active sites for overall water splitting. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations demonstrate that the Ru dopants exhibit optimized binding strength for H* and enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance.

Nowadays, it is challenging to achieve SO-tolerant environmental catalysis for NO reduction because of the thermodynamically favorable transformation of reactive sites to inactive sulfate species in the presence of SO. Herein, we achieve enhanced low-temperature SO-tolerant NO reduction by manipulating the dynamic coordination environment of active sites. Engineered by coordination chemistry, SiO-CeO composite oxides with a short-range ordered Ce-O-Si structure were elaborately constructed on a TiO support.

We report an experimental study on how topological defects induced by cylindrical air inclusions in the ferroelectric nematic liquid crystal RM734 are influenced by ionic doping, including an ionic surfactant and ionic polymer. Our results show that subtle differences in molecular structure can lead to distinct surface alignments and topological defects. The ionic surfactant induces a planar alignment, with two -1/2 line defects adhering to the cylindrical bubble surface.

A chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed efficient, operationally simple, general method for straightforward syntheses of axially chiral arylpyrazole employing -alkyl of 3-aryl-5-aminopyrazoles reacting with azonaphthalenes was achieved. A wide variety of axially chiral heterobiaryl diamines in generally good yields with excellent enantioselectivities were obtained under mild conditions. In addition, a scaled-up experiment and postmodification of the chiral product further highlighted the synthetic utility.

Recent advancements in green and sustainable platforms, particularly visible light-driven photocatalysis, have spurred significant progress in radical chemistry, enabling the efficient synthesis of important molecules from simple and readily available feedstocks under mild conditions. However, the rapid orbital flipping and high reactivity of radicals pose substantial challenges for achieving precise enantiocontrol in stereocenter formation via radical coupling. In this study, we present a generic and efficient strategy that modulates this elusive approach, facilitating enantiocontrollable protonation through 1,3-boron migration.

Solar energy-driven steam generation is a renewable, energy-efficient technology that can alleviate the global clean water shortage through seawater desalination. However, the contradiction between resistance to salinity accretion and maintaining high water evaporation properties remains a challenging bottleneck. Herein, we have developed a biomimetic multiscale-ordered hydrogel-based solar water evaporator for efficient seawater desalination.

Background: Quantifying the rich home-cage activities of tree shrews provides a reliable basis for understanding their daily routines and building disease models. However, due to the lack of effective behavioral methods, most efforts on tree shrew behavior are limited to simple measures, resulting in the loss of much behavioral information.
Methods: To address this issue, we present a deep learning (DL) approach to achieve markerless pose estimation and recognize multiple spontaneous behaviors of tree shrews, including drinking, eating, resting, and staying in the dark house, etc.

Symbiotic bioabsorbable devices are ideal for temporary treatment. This eliminates the boundaries between the device and organism and develops a symbiotic relationship by degrading nutrients that directly enter the cells, tissues, and body to avoid the hazards of device retention. Symbiotic bioresorbable electronics show great promise for sensing, diagnostics, therapy, and rehabilitation, as underpinned by innovations in materials, devices, and systems.

Spatially resolved transcriptomics technologies potentially provide the extra spatial position information and tissue image to better infer spatial cell-cell interactions (CCIs) in processes such as tissue homeostasis, development, and disease progression. However, methods for effectively integrating spatial multimodal data to infer CCIs are still lacking. Here, the authors propose a deep learning method for integrating features through co-convolution, called SpaGraphCCI, to effectively integrate data from different modalities of SRT by projecting gene expression and image feature into a low-dimensional space.

Radiopharmaceutical theranostics holds significant promise in tumor diagnosis and treatment, but suboptimal tumor uptake and retention remain a persistent limitation. We have conjugated a unique albumin binder to our previously developed heterodimeric precursor HX01 and achieved a novel precursor L6, aiming to prolong circulation time and enhance tumor accumulation and retention. However, we observed that the NGR sequence of L6 was gradually rearranged to iso-DGR under alkaline conditions, resulting in decreased stability.

The structural and chemical properties of metal nanoparticles are often dictated by their interactions with molecular ligand shells. These interactions are highly material-specific and can vary significantly even among elements within the same group or materials with similar crystal structure. In this study, we surveyed the heterogeneous interactions between an -terphenyl isocyanide ligand and Au and Ag nanoparticles (NPs) at the single-molecule limit.
