N4-acetylcytidine (ac4C) is a crucial post-transcriptional modification in human mRNA, involving the acetylation of the nitrogen atom at the fourth position of cytidine. This modification, catalyzed by N-acetyltransferases such as NAT10, is primarily found in mRNA's coding regions and enhances translation efficiency and mRNA stability. ac4C is closely associated with various diseases, including cancer.

Objectives: Investigating the effect of melatonin (MLT) on the pharmacokinetics and related neurotransmitter and amino acid metabolism of vigabatrin (VGB) in epileptic rats in vivo.
Methods: High performance liquid chromatography was used to examine the pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of VGB after intragastric administration dosing (50,100,200) mg/kg singly or in combination with melatonin (20 mg/kg) in rats. The single-compartment model of first-order elimination was fitted with the nonlinear mixed-effect model of first-order estimation.

Although the phosphorylation of serine (S), threonine (T), and tyrosine (Y) is well-established, arginine phosphorylation (pR) has recently garnered significant attention due to its crucial role in bacteria pathogenicity and stress response. Mycolicibacterium smegmatis, a nonpathogenic surrogate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, serves as a model for studying mycobacterial pathogenesis. A recent proteomics study identified six pR proteins in M.

Many studies have displayed that freeze-thaw (F/T) conditioning is an environmentally friendly approach of improving sludge dewaterability. However, Initial water content (IWC) has a strong influence on the efficiency of the F/T method in conditioning sludge dewatering performance. Finding the most suitable F/T parameters for sludge with different IWCs is a critical issue that needs to be solved.

Microplastic (MP) pollution has become one of global concern. While MP pollution in lakes has been well studied, research on MP sources, distribution, and ecological risks in the Tibetan Plateau is limited. We systematically investigated the MP abundance and distribution in alpine travertine lakes in Jiuzhai nature reserve located in east edge of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and assessed the distributions of microbiomes, antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), and virulence factor genes (VFGs) in water, sediments, and MPs, using macrogenomics.

The toxicity of organophosphorus flame retardants (OPFRs) remains poorly understood, despite their widespread environmental presence and potential risks to human and ecological health. This study aimed to characterize the cardiovascular developmental toxicity of OPFRs using a high-throughput zebrafish screening model. Over thirty representative OPFRs, classified into three major groups-alkyl, aryl, and halogenated-were evaluated.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a primary central nervous system neoplasm, characterized by a grim prognosis and low survival rates. This unfavorable therapeutic outcome is partially attributed to the inadequate immune infiltration and an immunosuppressive microenvironment, which compromises the effectiveness of conventional radiotherapy and chemotherapy. To this end, precise modulation of cellular dynamics in the immune system has emerged as a promising approach for therapeutic intervention.

Ageing is a major risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease (AD). Microglia, as the principal innate immune cells within the brain, exert homeostatic and active immunological defense functions throughout human lifespan. The age-related dysfunction of microglia is currently recognized as a pivotal trigger for brain diseases associated with aging.

Dry eye disease (DED) is a complex and multifactorial ocular surface disease. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are of pivotal importance in the inflammatory processes and biological dysfunction associated with DED. In this study, an injectable hydrogel, designated as OHACDgel, was created by combining oxidized HA-containing aldehyde groups (OHA) and gelation (gel) via dynamic covalent linkages of the hydrazine bonds, is employed as the carrier, while polyethylene imine-functionalized carbon dots (PEI-CD) can form dynamic chemical bonds with the hydrogel, thus prolonging the retention time of the ocular.

Abnormal functional and structural connectivity of brain networks is commonly observed in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and accompanied bycognitive impairment. In this study, we revealed differences in brain structure in T2DM using a Morphometric Similarity Network (MSN) method, which quantifies structural similarities between brain regions. The associations between T2DM-associated changes in morphometric similarity (MS) and gene expression were analyzed to explore the molecular and cellular mechanism underlying MS changes in T2DM.
