Using small molecules to integrate multifunctional surfaces within a nanopore is an effective way to endow smart responsibilities of nanofluidic diodes. However, the complex synthesis of the small molecules hinders their further application in achieving multifunctional surfaces. Here, a simple and versatile design concept is reported for fabricating bioinspired integrated nanofluidic diodes with adjustable surface chemistry by confining a spirocyclic fluorescein derivative, 6-aminofluorescein (6-AF), within an asymmetric track-etched nanopore.

Transition metal selenides (TMSe) are promising oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts but act as precursors rather than the actual active phase, transforming into amorphous oxyhydroxides during OER. This transformation, along with the formation of selenium oxyanions and unstable heterointerfaces, complicates the structure-activity relationship and reduces stability. This work introduces novel "layered-hierarchical dual lattice strain engineering" to inhibit the surface reconstruction of NiSe by modulating both the nickel foam (NF) substrate with MoN nanosheets (NM) and the NiSe nanorods-nanosheets catalytic layer (NiSe-NiSe-NiO, NSN) with ultrafast interfacial bimetallic amorphous NiFeOOH coating, achieving the optimized NM/NSN/NiFeOOH configuration.

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have garnered significant attention from both academic and industrial communities due to their high safety feature and high energy density in combination with lithium(Li) metal anode. Nevertheless, their practical applications remain constrained by the relatively low room-temperature ionic conductivity and interface issues. Anion-derived cation-anion aggregates (AGGs), derived from high-concentration liquid electrolytes, promote a stable solid-electrolyte interphase layer, which have gradually propelled their application in SPEs.

Electrosynthesis of hydrogen peroxide (HO) via two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e ORR) is a promising alternative to the anthraquinone oxidation process. To improve the overall energy efficiency and economic viability of this catalytic process, one pathway is to develop advanced catalysts to decrease the overpotential at the cathode, and the other is to couple 2e ORR with certain anodic reactions to decrease the full cell voltage while producing valuable chemicals on both electrodes. The catalytic performance of a 2e ORR catalyst depends not only on the material itself but also on the environmental factors.

Overcoming the challenges of integrating disparate components in nanoarchitectures, this study introduces a straightforward strategy based on a mixed-valence coordination approach, creating an ordered ternary heterostructure integrated with ultrasmall homojunction. This singular ordered homojunction-heterostructure unites ultrathin 1D rutile TiO nanowires (NWs) and ultrathin anatase TiO NWs with 0D Prussian Blue Analogs (PBAs) nanoparticles (NPs), all exhibiting crystallographic oriented alignment with each other, forming a ternary mesocrystals. Experimental and theoretical insights disclose that the complex interplay between these dissimilar components is governed by a spontaneous lattice match effect, which not only optimizes but also directs the charge transfer, thereby enhancing both efficiency and stability.

Metal carbides are considered attractive lithium-ion battery (LIB) anode materials. Their potential practical application, however, still needs nanostructure optimization to further enhance the Li-storage capacity, especially under large current densities. Herein, a nanoporous structured multi-metal carbide is designed, which is encapsulated in a 3D free-standing nanotubular graphene film (MnNiCoFe-MoC@NG).

Activated by the Li-O-Li configuration with nonbonding O2p state (lO2p), anionic redox reaction (ARR) in Li-rich layered oxides (LLOs) contributes to additional capacity but exhibits significant irreversibility, leading to severe surface oxygen loss. Herein, surface nonbonding oxygen state (SNBOS) is regulated by the integrated surface structure engineering to suppress surface oxygen loss and enhance the reversibility of ARR. On the outermost layer, the conversion of layered structure into a LiLaO2 layer and spinel phase structure eliminates lO2p, thereby preventing the activation of ARR and suppressing side reaction between electrolyte and oxidized oxygen ions.

Additionally, ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of cell death, is identified as a critical mechanism in IVDD pathogenesis. Herein, the therapeutic potential of gallic acid (GA)-derived PGA-Cu nanoparticles, enhanced with functional octapeptide (Cys-Lys-His-Gly-d-Arg-d-Tyr-Lys-Phe, SS08) to build the mitochondria-targeted nanoparticles (PGA-Cu@SS08), and embedded within a hydrogel matrix to form a nanocomposite hydrogel, is explored.

Integrating mixed electron donor (D) and electron acceptor (A) ligands into metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is an effective yet relatively unexplored approach for improving the anode performance of hybrid lithium-ion capacitors (HLICs). In this study, using an electron donor 2,6-bis(4'-pyridyl)tetrathiafulvalene and an electron acceptor ,'-bis(5-isophthalic acid) naphthalene diimide as ligands, a new Zn-TTF/NDI MOF () is constructed as a pseudocapacitive anode of HLICs. Crystallographic characterization revealed that MOF adopts a two-dimensional (2D) coordination network.
