The Dynamics of Symbiodiniaceae and Photosynthetic Bacteria Under High-Temperature Conditions.

Microb Ecol

January 2025

Guangxi Laboratory on the Study of Coral Reefs in the South China Sea, Coral Reef Research Center of China, School of Marine Sciences, Guangxi University, Nanning, 530004, China.

Coral thermal tolerance is intimately linked to their symbiotic relationships with photosynthetic microorganisms. However, the potential compensatory role of symbiotic photosynthetic bacteria in supporting Symbiodiniaceae photosynthesis under extreme summer temperatures remains largely unexplored. Here, we examined the seasonal variations in Symbiodiniaceae and photosynthetic bacterial community structures in Pavona decussata corals from Weizhou Island, Beibu Gulf, China, with particular emphasis on the role of photosynthetic bacteria under elevated temperature conditions.

State Key Laboratory of Developmental Biology of Freshwater Fish, Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory for Microbial Molecular Biology, College of Life Science, Hunan Normal University, Changsha, China.

Remodelling regulatory pathways to directionally increase the efficiency of specific promoters in chassis cells is an effective strategy for the rational construction of expression systems. However, the repeated utilization of one regulator to modify the host cell to improve expression motif efficiency has a limited effect. Therefore, it is preferable to identify new regulatory factors to activate specific pathways and thus further improve the efficiency of target elements.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative joint disorder characterized by an imbalance in chondrocyte metabolism. Ferroptosis has been implicated in the pathogenesis of OA. The role of Sirt1, a deacetylase, in mediating deacetylation during ferroptosis in OA chondrocytes remains underexplored.

The transcription factor TCF4 regulates the miR-494-3p/THBS1 axis in the fibrosis of pathologic scars.

Arch Dermatol Res

January 2025

Medical Intensive Care Unit, Zhangzhou Hospital Affiliated of Fujian Medical University, Zhangzhou Municipal Hospital of Fujian Province, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, China.

Background: The fibrosis of pathologic scar (PS) is formed by the excessive deposition of extracellular matrix, resulting in an abnormal scar. Recent clinical tests have indicated that the regulation of PS fibroblast cells (PSF cells) proliferation can serve as an intervention measure for PS. Our work aimed to elucidate the specific mechanism of action of TCF4 on the progression of PS fibrosis.
