Objective: We explored the mechanism of action of microRNA-146a in the lung cancer cell line A549 through the Noth1/Hes-1 signal pathway.
Methods: A549 cells were divided into a control NT group without transfection, NC group with transfection of miR-146a-NC, and MM group with transfection of miR-146a mimics. We employed qRT-PCR, MTT, Hoechst33258 fluorescence staining, Transwell assay, cell wound scratch assay, and Western blot for detection of the expression of miR-146a and Notch1/Hes-1, cell activity, apoptotic capacity, and invasion and migration abilities.

Objective: The consistency of plasma catecholamines and metanephrines measurements is crucial for the screening and diagnosis in pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGLs). There are many commercially available kits for plasma catecholamines and metanephrines testing, but their performance and consistency information are unknown. This study evaluated the performance of three mainstream commercially available LC-MS/MS kit methods and evaluated their consistency.

Objective: During acute myocardial infarction (AMI), ferroptosis occurs in cardiomyocytes, leading to ventricular remodeling. To investigate the influence of exosomes (Exo) derived from adipose mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) on cardiomyocytes, a therapeutic approach to resolve AMI may be discovered.
Methods: The Exo of AD-MSCs was isolated and identified, and internalized into cardiomyocytes.

This study aims to evaluate the effects of α-Bisabolol in the treatment of psoriasis both in vivo and in vitro, and to elucidate its mechanism of action. We used network pharmacology to explore the potential active components and targets of α-Bisabolol in the treatment of psoriasis. Psoriasis-like models were induced in mice or keratinocytes using imiquimod (IMQ) or tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α).

This study aimed to explore the molecular characteristics of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Differentially expressed gene analysis, weighted gene co-expression network analysis, and machine learning algorithms identified three core NETs-associated genes: CXCR4, CYBB, and PTAFR, which were significantly upregulated in CRSwNP patients. The diagnostic performance of these genes was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, and their clinical relevance was validated using multicenter data.

Keratin-based hydrogels have shown promise as materials for wastewater remediation, yet their low surface area and poor mechanical performance hindered the practical application. To address these challenges, we developed a bowl-shaped polydopamine-loaded sponge bio-hydrogel (BPSH) with a hierarchical porous structure and high stability. The extruded keratin chains facilitated the formation of three distinct macroporous frameworks, while embedding bowl-shaped polydopamine into the bio-hydrogel significantly enhanced the hierarchical porous structure.

Lignin is the most prevalent by-product of the pulp and paper industry and the world's second most abundant naturally occurring renewable biopolymer, after cellulose. Among various lignin-based materials, lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) are inexpensive and easily biodegradable by fungi and bacteria in nature, considered as a valuable class of renewable resources. Additionally, LNPs are not biotoxic and do not cause tissue rejection.

With the rapid development of science and technology, the discharge of industrial wastewater, especially dye wastewater, has caused great harm to the ecological environment. In response to the pollution caused by cationic organic dyes in industrial wastewater, this study employed free radical polymerization to prepare a new hydrogel adsorbent, PAA-PA-CMC, which exhibits both reusability and a large adsorption capacity. Phytic acid (PA) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) were introduced into the acrylic acid-based polymer network using N, N '-methylene-bisacrylamide (MBA) and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) as cross-linking agents.

Diabetic wound healing is hindered by oxidative stress, impaired angiogenesis, and inflammation. To address these issues, we developed a novel silver-gallic acid nanoparticle and incorporated it into a methacryloyl silk fibroin hydrogel (Ag@GA/Gel) based on the concept of polyphenol-metal nanoparticle networks for diabetic wound healing. In vitro experiments demonstrated that this hydrogel could promote macrophage polarization toward the M2 phenotype, scavenge reactive oxygen species, and exhibit pro-angiogenic and antibacterial properties.

This study aimed to investigate the potential reduction on the sensitization of sesame protein Ses i 3 through ultrasound-assisted glycation. Ses i 3 was extracted and purified using an immunoaffinity column, and the allergenicity changes of Ses i 3 were assessed by a comprehensive strategy, and T cell polarization was also assessed in vivo. Results showed ultrasound-assisted glycation treated Ses i 3 was more easily digestible; and the cell degranulation model showed the histamine, tryptase, and β-hexosaminidase induced by ultrasound-assisted glycation treatment were significantly decreased; besides, the serological results demonstrated that a notable decrease in the binding ability of immunoglobulin E (IgE) and IgG; finally, a BALB/c mice model demonstrated an alleviation of allergic responses induced by ultrasonic-assisted glycation treatment.

Interfacial modification has been extensively studied in the realm of plant fiber-reinforced bio-composites, with biomimetic polydopamine (PDA) modification garnering significant attention in recent years. This paper presents a novel strategy involving the one-pot co-deposition of PDA cross-linked with polyethyleneimine (PEI) to modify bamboo fibers (BF) for reinforcing polylactic acid (PLA). This approach enhances the interfacial compatibility between BF and PLA through robust linkages in a convenient, green, and non-destructive way.

Although transparent paper derived from cellulose has been successfully demonstrated as an inexpensive, renewable and biodegradable substrate used for flexible electronics, the inherently stiff characteristic and intrinsic poor conductivity of the cellulose paper inevitably hinders its application in stretchable electronic devices. Herein, we report a new avenue for construction of highly stretchable, transparent, and ionic conductive cellulose gel paper via glycerol inducing plasticizing and CaCl initiating chelating, a facile casting and drying strategy. The renewable carboxymethyl cellulose is employed for its intrinsically abundant carboxyl groups for crosslinking with Ca via ionic coordination bonds, benefiting the improvement of various performances.

This study aimed to understand the effect of molecular-weight distribution on the properties of acid-hydrolyzed waxy maize starches (AH-WMSs) prepared at different acid concentrations and hydrolysis times at 50 °C. A reduction in molecular weight of AH-WMS resulted in increased paste fluidity and light transmittance, as well as decreased sedimentation, amylose‑iodine complex, and pasting viscosity. Freshly prepared AH-WMS viscoelastic gels at 20 % solids showed thixotropy at 25 °C and 50 °C, and both the shear stress and the area of hysteresis loop decreased with decreasing molecular weights.
