Maternal di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate exposure increases the risk of congenital heart disease in mice offspring.

Pediatr Res

March 2025

Pediatric Heart Center, NHC Key Laboratory of Neonatal Diseases, Children's Hospital of Fudan University, National Children's Medical Center, Shanghai, 201102, China.

Abstrct: BACKGROUD: Epidemiological data suggest that maternal occupational exposure to mixed phthalates comprising di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) increases the risk of congenital heart disease (CHD). In this study, we used mice as an animal model to validate impact of first-trimester DEHP exposure on the risk of CHD in offspring, to elucidate the possible mechanisms and to provide a potential feasible intervention.

Methods And Results: Eight-week-old C57BL/6J pregnant mice were randomly divided into standard and DEHP diet groups.

Adaptive damage analysis method for ultimate bearing capacity of steel truss structures with box section.

Sci Rep

March 2025

Key Laboratory of Disaster Prevention and Structural Safety of China Ministry of Education, School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Guangxi University, Nanning, 530004, China.

Traditional damage analysis of steel truss structures requires detailed finite element meshing, and there is a coupling between stress-strain and damage solving, resulting in complex damage analysis and massive computations. In this paper, the element bearing ratio (EBR) reflecting the bearing state of components was defined, and the concept of the element damage factor was introduced based on the principle of deformation energy conservation. A homogeneous generalized yield function (HGYF) for box-section components was constructed to establish adaptive damage factors and the criterion under multi-force combinations.

During human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) entry, the metastable pretriggered envelope glycoprotein (Env) trimer ((gp120/gp41)) opens asymmetrically. We present cryo-EM structures of cleaved asymmetric Env trimers in amphipol-lipid nanodiscs. The gp41 membrane-proximal external region (MPER) could be traced in Env protomers that remained close to the nanodisc despite Env tilting.

Sci Rep

March 2025

State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology, Optometry and Vision Science, Eye Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, Zhejiang, People's Republic of China, 325000.

The modulation of inflammatory mediators has emerged as a critical therapeutic strategy in uveitis management. Current nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory therapies face limitations due to systemic side effects. Caffeic acid (CA), a natural polyphenol with anti-inflammatory properties, holds therapeutic potential but suffers from poor solubility and ocular irritation.

A TaSnRK1α-TaCAT2 model mediates resistance to Fusarium crown rot by scavenging ROS in common wheat.

Nat Commun

March 2025

Key Laboratory of High-Efficiency Production of Wheat-Maize Double Cropping /Agronomy College, Henan Agricultural University, Zhengzhou, China.

Fusarium crown rot (FCR) is a serious underlying disease to threaten wheat yield and quality recently. Here, we identify a catalase antioxidant enzyme (TaCAT2) through genome wide association study (GWAS) and whole-exome sequencing (WES) in two nested bi-parental populations. We verify the function of TaCAT2 regulating wheat FCR resistance by genetic transformation.

Fire disasters pose significant risks to human life, economic development, and social stability. The early stages of a fire, often characterized by small flames, diffuse smoke, and obstructed objects, can lead to challenges such as missed detections and poor real-time performance. To address these issues, we propose a DSS-YOLO model based on an improved YOLOv8n architecture, designed to enhance the recognition accuracy of obscured objects and small targets while reducing computational overhead.

Machine learning can be applied to identify key genes associated with osteoarthritis (OA). This study aimed to explore the differential expression of necroptosis-related genes (NRGs) during the progression of OA, identify key gene modules strongly linked to the onset of OA, and assess the role of CASP1 and its correlation with immune cell infiltration in OA. Gene expression profile data were obtained for OA and normal tissues: GSE55235 (10 OA and 10 normal synovial tissues) and GSE46750 (12 OA and 12 normal synovial tissues).

In response to the issues of low precision, a large number of parameters and high model complexity in steel surface defect detection, a lightweight algorithm using improved YOLOv8 is proposed. Firstly, GhostNet is utilized as the backbone network in order to reduce the number of model parameters and computational complexity. Secondly, the MPCA (MultiPath Coordinate Attention) attention mechanism is integrated to enhance feature extraction capabilities.

Previous studies have demonstrated that silica can activate the NLRP3 inflammasome, and that macrophage phagocytosis is an essential step in this process. Although carbon is the primary component of coal dust particles, it also contains other impurities such as free silica, clay, sulfides, and carbonate minerals. Additional research is still necessary to discover if NLRP3 can be triggered due to the low silica content of coal dust particles.

This study delved into the role of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and cuproptosis in steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SIONFH), assessing the therapeutic potential of the PI3K agonist 740Y-P. We analyzed femoral head specimens from SIONFH patients using DIA proteomics, identifying differentially expressed proteins linked to cuproptosis. In vitro, MC3T3-E1 cells treated with dexamethasone (DEX) exhibited hallmarks of cuproptosis, including downregulation of DLAT, PDHB, SLC25A3, and FDX1, increased copper ions, and reduced osteogenic potential, as shown by decreased ALP activity and RUNX2/BMP2 expression.

TRPML1 ion channel promotes HepaRG cell differentiation under simulated microgravity conditions.

NPJ Microgravity

March 2025

State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, P.R. China.

Stem cell differentiation must be regulated by intricate and complex interactions between cells and their surrounding environment, ensuring normal organ and tissue morphology such as the liver. Though it is well acknowledged that microgravity provides necessary mechanical force signals for cell fate, how microgravity affects growth, differentiation, and communication is still largely unknown due to the lack of real experimental scenarios and reproducibility tools. Here, Rotating Flat Chamber (RFC) was used to simulate ground-based microgravity effects to study how microgravity effects affect the differentiation of HepaRG (hepatic progenitor cells) cells.

Graph convolution networks based on adaptive spatiotemporal attention for traffic flow forecasting.

Sci Rep

March 2025

School of Computer and Artificial Intelligence (School of Software), Huaihua University, Huaihua, 418000, China.

Traffic flow is the most direct indicator of traffic conditions, and accurate prediction of traffic flow is a key challenge for scholars in the field of intelligent transportation. However, traffic flow displays significant nonlinearity, dynamic changes, spatiotemporal dependencies, and most existing methods overlook the influence of road topology on the spatiotemporal properties of traffic flow, creating substantial challenges for traffic flow prediction. This paper proposes a graph convolutional traffic flow prediction model based on adaptive spatiotemporal attention.
