In recent years, the incidence of gastric cancer (GC) has been on the rise, surgical procedures usually require the removal of part of gastric tissue connected with the tumor lesion, which leads to poor postoperative health and adverse prognosis in patients. Probiotics, as an active microorganism, play an important role in improving gastrointestinal function and enhancing immunity. In this study, we randomized 135 GC patients into a control group, a probiotic group and a combination group.

Department of Pathogen Biology and Immunology, Kunming Medical University, Kunming 650500, China. *Corresponding authors, E-mail:

The innate immune response is the first line of defense for the host against viral infections. Targeted degradation of pathogenic microorganisms through autophagy, in conjunction with pattern recognition receptors synergistically inducing the production of interferon (IFN), constitutes an important pathway for the body to resist viral infections. Rubicon, a Run domain Beclin 1-interacting and cysteine-rich domain protein, has an inhibitory effect on autophagy and IFN production.

It has been popular and challenging to undertake researches on the delay of acquired resistance of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKI). As key cells for tumor initiation, cancer stem cells (CSC) play an important role in the process of resistance to EGFR-TKI. Although preliminary studies found that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) could inhibit CSC properties and delay EGFR-TKI resistance, the specific molecular mechanism remains unclear.

Efferocytosis refers to the process of phagocytes engulfing and clearing the cells after programmed cell death. In recent years, an increasing number of studies have shown that the mechanisms of efferocytosis are closely related to drug-induced liver injury, hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury, viral hepatitis, cholestatic liver diseases, metabolic-associated fatty liver disease, alcoholic liver disease, and other liver disorders. This review summarized the research progress on the role of efferocytosis in liver diseases, with the hope of providing new targets for the prevention and treatment of liver diseases.

Department of Hematology, Lanzhou University Second Hospital, Lanzhou 730000, China. *Corresponding authors, E-mail:

B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA) is an inhibitory immune checkpoint, which typically interacts with herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM) and plays a crucial role in regulating immune balance. BTLA interacts with its ligand HVEM in a cis manner on the surface of the same immune cell to maintain immune tolerance, while trans interactions on the surface of different immune cells mediate immunosuppressive effects. Dysregulation of the BTLA/HVEM axis can impair the functions of immune cells, particularly T lymphocytes, promoting immune escape of tumor cells and ultimately leading to tumor progression.

The basal level of salicylic acid represses the PRT6 N-degron pathway to modulate root growth and stress response in rice.

Plant Commun

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Efficient Utilization of Arid and Semi-arid Arable Land in Northern China, Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing, China.

Maintaining a stable basal level of salicylic acid (SA) is crucial for plant growth, development, and stress response, though basal levels of SA vary significantly among plant species. However, the molecular mechanisms by which basal SA regulates plant growth and stress response remain to be elucidated. In this study, we performed a genetic screen to identify suppressors of the root growth defect in Osaim1, a rice mutant deficient in basal SA biosynthesis.

School of Basic Medical Sciences, Capital Medical University, Beijing 100069, China; Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing 102206, China. Electronic address:

The development of efficient and targeted methods for delivering DNA in vivo has long been a major focus of research. In this study, we introduce a gene Delivery approach Admitted by small Metabolites, named gDAM, for the efficient and targeted delivery of naked DNA into astrocytes in the adult brains of mice. gDAM utilizes a straightforward combination of DNA and small metabolites, including glycine, L-proline, L-serine, L-histidine, D-alanine, Gly-Gly, and Gly-Gly-Gly, to achieve astrocyte-specific delivery of naked DNA, resulting in transient and robust gene expression in these cells.
