Colorectal cancer (CRC) is among the most common cancer types for both sexes. Tripartite motif 36 (TRIM36) has been reported to be aberrantly expressed in several cancer types, suggesting its involvement in cancer progression. However, the role of TRIM36 in the colorectal carcinogenesis remain unknown.

Winter barley (Hordeum vulgare) production areas in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are severely threatened by barley yellow mosaic disease, which is caused by Barley yellow mosaic virus and Barley mild mosaic virus. Improving barley disease resistance in breeding programs requires knowledge of genetic loci in germplasm resources. In this study, bulked segregant analysis (BSA) identified a novel major quantitative trait loci (QTL) QRym.

Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, with its advantages of non-destructive analysis, simple operation, and fast detection speed, has been widely applied in various fields. However, the effectiveness of current spectral analysis techniques still relies on complex preprocessing and feature selection of spectral data. While data-driven deep learning can automatically extract features from raw spectral data, it typically requires large amounts of labeled data for training, limiting its application in spectral analysis.

Bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) emerges as a potent catalyst for converting CO2 to formic acid (HCOOH), leveraging its abundant lattice oxygen and the high activity of its Bi-O bonds. Yet, its durability is usually impeded by the loss of lattice oxygen causing structure alteration and destabilized active bonds. Herein, we report an innovative approach via the interstitial incorporation of indium (In) into the Bi2O3, significantly enhancing bond stability and preserving lattice oxygen.

Background: Amiodarone, a common antiarrhythmic drug, is known for its severe side effects, including pulmonary toxicity, which involves oxidative stress and apoptosis. Artemisinin, an antimalarial drug, has shown cytoprotective properties by inhibiting oxidative stress and apoptosis. This study investigated the protective effects of artemisinin against amiodarone-induced toxicity in human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B) and mouse models.

The advancement of lanthanide fingerprint sensors characterized by targeted emission responses and low self-fluorescence interference for the detection of biothiols is of considerable importance for the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Herein, the lanthanide "personality function tailoring" HOF composite sensor array is designed for the specific discrimination of biothiols (GSH, Cys, and Hcy) based on the activation of various luminescent molecules, such as r-AuNCs/luminol via HOF surface proximity. Lumi-HOF@Ce serves as a versatile platform for catalyzing the oxidation of -phenylenediamine (OPD) to generate yellow fluorescent oligomers, accompanied by the fluorescence attenuation of luminol.

Dihydronaphthalenes play a crucial role in bioactive natural products and new drug discovery, and efficient and economic strategies to build them are needed. Herein, we disclose a highly efficient method to prepare dihydronaphthalenes a cerium-catalyzed cycloaddition of 1-isochromenes with cinnamic acids. This newly developed method not only features a broad and low-cost substrate scope and mild conditions but also exhibits very high functional group tolerance, including hydroxyl, borate ester and ester group substituents.

In such an era of information explosion, improving the level of information security is still a challenging task. Self-erasing luminescent hydrogels are becoming ideal candidates for improving the level of information security with simple encryption and decryption methods. Herein, a lanthanide-polyoxometalate-based self-erasing luminescent hydrogel with time-dependent and resilient properties was constructed through a covalent crosslinked network constructed with polyacrylamide and a non-covalent crosslinked network constructed with [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethyl ammonium chloride/NaDyWO, along with doping urease.

To investigate the role of ALKBH3 in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), we constructed an animal model of xenotransplantation of AML. Our study demonstrated that ALKBH3-mediated m1A demethylation inhibits ferroptosis in KG-1 cells by increasing ATF4 expression, thus promoting the development of AML. These findings suggest that reducing ALKBH3 expression may be a potential strategy to mitigate AML progression.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia worldwide, and the development of early screening methods can address its significant health and social consequences. In this paper, we present a rotary-valve assisted paper-based immunoassay device (RAPID) for early screening of AD, featuring a highly integrated on-chip rotary micro-valve that enables fully automated and efficient detection of the AD biomarker (amyloid beta 42, Aβ42) in artificial plasma. The microfluidic paper-based analytical device (μPAD) of the RAPID pre-stores the required assay reagents on a μPAD and automatically controls the liquid flow through a single valve.
