Microplastics (MPs) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are ubiquitous contaminants in environments, yet their co-occurrence and interactions remain insufficiently understood. In this study, we confirmed the concurrent presence of MPs and PFASs and their distinct distribution patterns in a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) through a comprehensive sampling and analysis effort. Significant correlations ( < 0.

Reconstruction after the excision of a lower eyelid tumor should be focused on the restoration of both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Accurate identification and appropriate intervention are crucial for the favorable resolution of the condition. This technique used a nasolabial mucosal-myocutaneous propeller flap to reconstruct a huge full-thickness defection of right lower eyelid because of basal cell carcinoma.

Aiming at the effects caused by stress and deformation on Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) sensors, the stress distribution in the radiation area of the MEMS infrared light source is investigated, and by simulating and optimizing the thickness of the composite support film of the chip structure in COMSOL, a film layer thickness matching with lower stress and deformation for the MEMS infrared light source is derived. The utilization of the particle swarm algorithm and backpropagation neural network model allowed for the optimization of simulation data, enabling regression prediction over a broader range of thicknesses and providing a more precise depiction of the stress distribution trend. In addition, the specifications of the MEMS device help us to analyze the design of the support film thickness in the processing of the residual stress within the controllable range.

Radiation from wireless communication devices inside intelligent connected vehicles has been an expeditious growth of concern regarding possible adverse effects on human health. Due to the significant differences in the working scenarios compared to traditional mobile products, the traditional measuring systems of specific absorption rate (SAR) are not applicable to in-vehicle scenarios. This paper has developed a SAR measurement system and a SAR measurement method, which are suitable for in-vehicle scenarios.

An automated method was developed to simultaneously measure primary amines and short-chain aldehydes emission from foam and rubber samples in one experiment. The technique involved dynamic solid-phase microextraction (SPME) on-fiber derivatization coupled with a flow-cell unit. The parameters of the dynamic SPME on-fiber derivatization method were optimized, including SPME coating, derivatization agents loading temperature, loading time, and dynamic SPME extraction time.

Human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) play a critical role in the regeneration of periodontal tissue. Forkhead box protein A1 (FOXA1) has been implicated in the inflammatory mechanisms of various diseases. However, the role of FOXA1 in periodontal inflammation and its effect on the osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs remains unclear.

The okaramine family of compounds, a class of alkaloids with broad-spectrum insecticidal activity, has been discovered from species of and . These okaramines, characterized by their complex structures and diverse biological activities, have attracted widespread attention from biologists and chemists. To date, only a few okaramines have been synthesized, notably the highly active okaramines A and B, which feature a polycyclic skeleton, including an azocine ring and an unprecedented 2-dimethyl-3-methyl-azetidine ring.

Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have become the forefront and hotspot in energy storage and conversion research, inheriting the advantages of both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. In particular, carbon-supported SACs (CS-SACs) are excellent candidates for many energy storage and conversion applications, due to their maximum atomic efficiency, unique electronic and coordination structures, and beneficial synergistic effects between active catalytic sites and carbon substrates. In this review, we briefly review the atomic-level regulation strategies for optimizing CS-SACs for energy storage and conversion, including coordination structure control, nonmetallic elemental doping, axial coordination design, and polymetallic active site construction.

Intracellular delivery of proteins has attracted significant interest in biological research and cancer treatment, yet it continues to face challenges due to the lack of effective delivery approaches. Herein, we developed an efficient strategy cationic α-helical polypeptide-mediated anionic proprotein delivery. The protein was reversibly modified with adenosine triphosphate dynamic covalent chemistry to prepare an anionic proprotein (A-protein) with abundant phosphate groups.

Thermodynamics has long been applied in predicting undiscovered microorganisms or analyzing energy flows in microbial metabolism, as well as evaluating microbial impacts on global element distributions. However, further development and refinement in this interdisciplinary field are still needed. This work endeavors to develop a whole-cycle framework integrating thermodynamics with microbiological studies, focusing on representative nitrogen-transforming microorganisms.

The ability to accurately quantify biological age could help monitor and control healthy aging. Epigenetic clocks have emerged as promising tools for estimating biological age, yet they have been developed from heterogeneous bulk tissues, and are thus composites of two aging processes, one reflecting the change of cell-type composition with age and another reflecting the aging of individual cell-types. There is thus a need to dissect and quantify these two components of epigenetic clocks, and to develop epigenetic clocks that can yield biological age estimates at cell-type resolution.

Background And Objectives: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a well-established intervention for alleviating both motor and nonmotor symptoms of Parkinson disease. However, a common complication of stereotaxic DBS surgery is pneumocephalus, which can compromise electrode accuracy, complicate postoperative assessments, and negatively affect the long-term outcomes of DBS surgery. This report proposes a comprehensive and robust set of recommendations aimed at optimizing DBS surgical protocols to achieve zero pneumocephalus outcomes.
