Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) used for magnetic hyperthermia can not only damage tumor cells after elevating to a specific temperature but also provide the temperature required for thermosensitive liposomes (TSL) to release doxorubicin (DOX). MNPs injected into tumor will generate heat under an alternating magnetic field, so the MNPs distribution can determine temperature distribution and further affect the DOX concentration used for tumor therapy. This study proposes an asynchronous injection strategy for this combination therapy in order to improve the DOX concentration value for drug therapy, in which the MNPs are injected into tumor after a certain lagging of TSL injection in order to increase the TSL concentration inside tumor.

Background: Postoperative complications are potential factors influencing the prognosis of patients with HCC combined with CSPH. This study aims to explore the risk factors affecting the occurrence of postoperative complications, investigate potential factors influencing long-term prognosis in these patients, and establish predictive models.
Methods: From April 2018 to December 2021, a total of 190 patients with HCC combined with CSPH who underwent curative liver resection in our hospital were included, comprising 69 cases in the complication group and 121 cases in the non-complication group.

Fatal familial insomnia (FFI) is a rare autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder characterized by rapidly progressive dementia, severe sleep disturbances, and autonomic dysfunction. The clinical manifestations of FFI can exhibit substantial variations, making it crucial to rule out other conditions, such as autoimmune encephalitis and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, during early diagnosis. In this study, we describe the case of a 58-year-old man who experienced persistent insomnia, autonomic symptoms, gait instability, and rapidly progressive dementia.

This study investigated the protective effect of arachidonic acid (ARA) against the allograft-induced stress response in Pinctada fucata martensii by characterizing pearl production traits and changes in genes and lipids during postoperative care. Survival and pearl production traits were higher in the ARA treatment group (ARAG) than in the control group (CG). There were 1536 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in CG-1d vs ARAG-1d and 833 DEGs in CG-3d vs ARAG-3d.

This study aimed to investigate the potential of Pichia kudriavzevii (PK), a newly discovered yeast strain, in alleviating the deleterious effects induced by aflatoxins on broilers. Eighty one-day-old broiler chicks were divided into four groups and subjected to various combinations of aflatoxin dosages at 300 μg/kg of feed alongside PK supplementation at 1 g/kg of feed. The rapid, sensitive and reliable detection of oral cancer overexpressed 1 (ORAOV 1) is crucial for the early, non-invasive diagnosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Herein, we are the first to construct an ultrasensitive electrochemical (EC) biosensor based on an entropy-driven "two-way signal output" (TWSO) cyclic circuit for salivary ORAOV 1 detection. This innovative TWSO cyclic circuit can skillfully convert by-products into desired signal-generating units, not only reducing the excessive accumulation of by-products but also improving the utilization efficiency of output chains, thereby achieving rapid reaction kinetics and high signal outputs.

Ciprofloxacin (CIP) is a commonly used antibiotic, but its abuse may cause bacterial resistance, posing a high risk to the environment and human health. As a serine hydrolase synthesized by the liver, butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) is an important biomarker in the clinical diagnosis of liver diseases. To track BChE activity in drug-induced liver injury, we designed a deep-red BChE-activatable fluorescent probe (CYL-BChE) with hemi-cyanine structure by using a cyclopropyl carbonyl group as a specific recognition moiety. Its near-infrared absorption wavelength (665 nm) and emission wavelength (762 nm) provide excellent tissue penetration capabilities, making it suitable for biological imaging.
